ESCAPE FROM THE CRYSTAL CAVERNS and THE GIANT DAGGER DRAGONFLIES
Many apparitions, appearances of poltergeists are haunting a Redwood Forest along the Pacific Coast. It happened two hundred years ago explains Grandfather Patrick Moore, the only man who believes the event may be connected with mythical creatures living underground in the forest. For his grandson, Skyler Moore, that idea is hard to swallow.

Oh sure, when Skyler was younger he would sit in the forest for hours with his Grandfather hoping to see these creatures. Some may call them gnomes. Some might think they're gremlins, goblins, or trolls. Some may swear they're leprechauns. Regardless of what they are, Skyler is much older now, fifteen and not so naive. He's not going to be ridiculed at school on account of the stories his Grandfather spreads around town any more.

Patrick is determined to get to the forest to find out what has happened and help these creatures. Being old and stuck in a wheelchair won't stop him either. He goes off into the forest alone, but that proves to be fatal.

Skyler holds his Grandfather fondly as he takes his last breath and places into Skyler's hand a beautiful key adorned with fine rubies and made from pure gold. It belongs to one of these creatures and is very important.

Patrick begs Skyler to find them and solve the mystery of the key, and help them but he just can't get himself to believe in such foolish notions any more - that is until the right girl with enough spunk comes along, Shannon Beckman, sassy and self-driven. She helps him sort through all of his doubt and compels him to search for answers.

Skyler and Shannon take off into the forest on a magical adventure and venture through an enchanting, underground world, journeying through mysterious valleys, over treacherous cliffs, through crystal caverns, rivers and lakes.

They encounter hordes of Giant Water Spiders, Dagger Dragon Flies and more all in hopes of finding these, mystical, charming creatures who have remained hidden, undiscovered for over two hundred years.

About the Author

Howard Kazanjian, producer of “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” “Return of the Jedi” and many other films, has optioned my screenplay “ESCAPE FROM THE CRYSTAL CAVERNS & THE GIANT DAGGER DRAGONFLIES” which is based on this novel and another script of mine. I've had a good relationship with him and have been associated with him for many years. At the end of last year I hand delivered the screenplay based on this book to Sean Bailey who is president of Walt Disney Pictures. I met with him in his office and we chatted about the new Star Wars film “The Force Awakens.” He read my script and liked it and said, “It was full of creativity.” Sean had Tonia Davis, executive director at the time at Disney, read the script also and she liked it a lot as well as another screenplay that she read of mine. The problem was they have another film in development called “Goblins” which they thought would conflict. Also I hand delivered the screenplay, which is based on this novel, and another screenplay of mine titled “SLEEPWALKING WITH THE DEAD” to Paramount Pictures. Josh Phillips an executive there read them both and liked them. The problem with them taking on “SLEEPWALKING WITH THE DEAD” was that “World War Z” was about to come out in a few months. And although my script is not a zombie movie, they just didn't want to do something again of that nature. Josh liked the screenpaly and wanted Howard Kazanjian and I to attach a director to it. Howard contacted Joe Johnston and a couple of other directors but we're still waiting to hear from them. A while back I sent “SLEEPWALKING WITH THE DEAD” to Bryan Singer at his company, Bat Hat Harry Productions. Marc Berliner, his main development executive, read the script and thought it was good and very creepy. He said that if their company was in its younger stage that they would have made the film, but now all they do is “Big Tent Pole” movies. So currently I will be sending a couple more screenplays into Disney. They like my writing and I have an open door there. Though it's a long shot since they only develop mostly in-house. I have an open door with Paramount Pictures and will be sending a couple more screenplays to them also. If anyone reads this and my novel thank you and I hope you enjoy it! Hopefully the movie will get made.
