CHAPTER 1

TITLE UNKNOWN

******* Patricia, my Dear*******

The very sound of a pen dropping after the story was finished,
Ever reminding me that words on paper are not as
important as the health of a friend or loved one.

As man, (this includes woman) was created in
the image of the Great Spirit, himself.
Being reminded of this—that it takes a hell of a lot
of courage to live life on a daily basis----You
know, the twenty-four hour deal?

So life needs to be lived by what makes you happy, meaning
Happy, joyous and free!

Cindy Gillard
Feb 28, 1988

Patricia, was a lifesaving experience. My son Joseph was born
3 weeks, before Patricia took her own life.

CHANGES

Where does change begin?
It begins from within
How does it begin
It begins with you
It begins from within
Change of motives
Change of heart
Change of the within

Like it says, "It starts within you"
Changes in morals and values, as you believe
Change of negative to positive thoughts of self

One of these days, we will begin to see the change with in,
But to see the change within, we need to begin the change now.

THE JOURNEY

There is a journey everyone takes in life.
The journey takes place after birth,
FACE IT! You are born into the world of the unknown,

You go day by day learning what life is all about
Learning how to crawl, walk and talk

AHHA---
The first few steps to a broader range of education
How to add, subtract and multiply,
After school is out for good, you try to sum up what life is
All about.
Asking yourself questions such as:
Where do I go from here?
What about a career?

Some do not ask,
They do till their heart is discontent.
These are the ones who turn to booze and others
To drugs, and yet others to the life of crime
subtracting from this journey.

And then those who cannot even grasp onto life, we subtract our selves.

So we ask ourselves, "Where did I go wrong?"
We will never know for life is but a journey
The journey of what life is really about
LIFE------What a journey.

THE LEGEND OF GRAY CLOUD

*****In honor of Grandpa Sam Gillard Sr*****

The wind blows nonstop
The clouds move onward needless to say
The wind does not stop,
It blows on and on and on
The clouds turn the color gray
And instead of isolation,
They gather together for a bonding of their own.

They begin to clap
They begin to bring streaks of light
And they roar a roar that has
Never been heard in all the land

The storm pours its tears upon all the land
The storm stops,
The clouds stop their clapping
And the sudden streaks of light stops

A great rainbow appears
Of the last left behind
And so it is
The Legend of Gray Cloud

Cindy Gillard
20 JULY 1992

My Grandpa was so many things to me: a father, a teacher, a friend. He was bigger than life to me.

MORE PRECIOUS THAN GOLD

More precious than gold is
That of a newborn baby
Waiting for you to hold

Anything more precious
Than silver,
Is the silver lining of a cloud after
God has stopped crying

More precious than the twinkle of
The north star
Is that of a sparkle in the eyes
Of a child
Whom he has given new life to become one

More precious than gold
More precious than silver
More precious than the twinkle of
The north star
Is that of a child waiting
For you to hold

FOUR LOVES

Whisper in my ear and tell me what you
Feel

Is it good?
Or is it bad?

I don't know for there is no one whispering in my ear
No one is there to tell me how they feel

For now I feel torn between four loves
Granny, Grampa
Patricia, Joseph

Only time will tell
When it is time to tell

What I was feeling and thinking were two different things
Thinking that there is someone out there that can fill the shoes
At my side.
And feeling that I will never find or see that love ever again.
For as long as I remain closed in about myself,
I feel as though I am being torn between four loves
Is this a stale mate I see?

SPIRITUAL INTERLUDE

Look at me and tell me what you see---
Honesty?
Just what do you see.
A loner, maybe---
Just maybe someone who craves the love
From a significant other that no longer exists

Her love exists, I imagine, but her physical being does not

Ahhh—but she does exist in spirit

Tell me, have you ever tried letting the Great Spirit
Be your significant other?

That partner, that one who does not hurt you—
The one who does not leave you for all time sake?

The Great Spirit knows just what you want
And knows just what to say

She knows just how you feel
And knows the best time to carry you through all
Pain and tribulation

I look at me and see that the Great Spirit loves me,
My lover, my parent and my GOD
Who is my creator

ANOTHER DAWN

Dawn just isn't dawn,
It's the sunrise
The colors
The presence of an immortal spirit

Red is for passion
The passion that rises high within me
When I look at the sun coming up
From the bed that it sits on
To sleep

Dawn—look and feel; the spiritual being
Becomes overwhelming within your
Soul
To make love with the Dawn—
Is making love to yourself and nature

AFTER THE THOUGHT

She cried, after the thought
She shuddered in fear after the thought

There is no other after the thought

No other thought except—the thought of
Love, hope, trust and respect

No thought of hate, anger, fear or emotions of death

The thought is we are all unique
And gifted in ourselves—

We know this because it was after the thought

SLOW TO RISE

We are slow to rise
We are slow to patience
Slow to know the difference

Slow to understand
We need each others hand
We are slow, yes

Slow to join hands to become one
With each others minds—hearts
Body and soul

Slow to rise and
YES, slow to know the difference

OFTEN I DO*****

Often I do---- just that ----
NOTHING

The mind is such a secret place
Often I do wonder
What makes it do what it does

What makes it tick the way it does

All I know----its one great big hiding
Place for all secrets that it holds

That's all
That's it
That's all I know
Because often I do-------

LETTING GO

Letting go is accepting the truth of what
Has come to pass

Letting go – it's remembering the most precious
Moments and creating the life of joy
And happiness

Letting go ---
It's not blaming yourself,
It's realizing that it was
All on GOD's time and not ours

Letting Go!!

IT'S OFTEN TOO LATE

It's often too late
To tell you how I feel

It's not often necessary to spill
The facts
Being at face value
I do wonder how you
Would react to a gentle nudge or a
Pat on your back.

Nevertheless, I often wonder about
True love or infatuation

I look at you and think------
Why- - -
Has this happened?
For when I see the gentle spirit
Set free
Nevertheless, I often wonder what my
Life would be like with you at my
Side
Being my guide

It's often too late to take
A look at what has been created in the image
Of GOD

Its often too late to
Share my thoughts and emotions
So overwhelming,
That you walk away and never come back
Its often too late.

ALL IN REALITY

Reality has it that there is
Love –hate
Peace –war
Life –death

Reality has it that we all must
Experience the good and the bad,
If we don't, then what is life?
What is reality?

Reality has it that
There is so much to do
So little time to do
It all in.

Reality has it that
Peace is better than
War,
So forgive and forget
Life and death
That's on God's time

EVERY SO OFTEN

Every so often my mind wanders-
It flips through what people call a
Memory

And every so often,
Some saying the past seems to
Leak through, and
Reminds me of that one
Person that I once loved
So much.

And even though,
Every so often doesn't
Come enough—
I will remember this
The thought came from
My heart and not my head.

RANDOMLY

Randomly, I sit here watching the
innocence in the face of a youngster
anxiously awaiting-
Maybe of what is going to be next.
For her, next to the impossible.

The impossible job of just being a
Young child.
Just as I watch mother and child
They speak with a gentle voice of love
That will never go wasted

Precious in mothers eyes and
Both precious to the creator

Just randomly do I sit and envy the moment
Being shared between these two beings.v

WONDERING

Sitting here wondering
About where my life
Is about to lead me.

Where it is about to take me

Where on earth is this life
Taking me?

Why is this life so full
of surprises.

Wondering------
What is going to happen in this
Lifetime,
What am I going to
Learn, accomplish and
Manage to experience.

NOT ONCE—BUT TWICE

Not once, but twice
I think about life.
I stand back in awe
At the work of the majesty

Not once, but twice
I look at the moon
And see if I can still see the man
Who can still see me

Not once, but twice,
I look at the same sunset
And I swear----
I always see something different

Cindy Gillard

EVERYDAY

Everyday is a day that I wake up
Take that first sigh
My feet hit the floor
Running here and there

Everyday isn't the same thing
I do this and
I do that
Sometimes, I don't
Do a thing

Except breathe in and out
Knowing that I am
Alive.
Yes, this I do
EVERYDAY

Cindy Gillard
3 Sept 1996

MANY

Many is more than one
I know
Many times, it happens
I look at something and
I see it.

The Poem---the story
That gave that something
That shape
That ideal meaning

Many times it happens
I think of you and the ones
I love
And suddenly I realized that you
Mold me, shape me and wrote my
Morals and values upon my heart

You do love me, don't you?

Cindy Gillard
3 Sept 1996

HONESTLY SPEAKING

Honestly speaking
I just don't know
Honestly speaking
I just don't care

It's all just a matter of
Time that we will rock the
Boat and go flying each
In our own separate
Little direction.

Honestly speaking,
The boat isn't getting rocked
Hard enough,
For we are still floating
On water.

Cindy Gillard

KNOWING THE DIFFERENCE

Knowing the difference between
right and wrong is only
learned by making mistakes and
correcting the wrong when you
can.

Knowing the difference between Love
and lust is different, especially
when it involves different people
at different times or at the same time,
but not the right time,

Knowing the difference between life and
death
Life is only temporary
Death is permeant
But the after life is beautiful

Cindy Gillard

WHERE THE ROAD TAKES ME

Where the road takes me
I will stand tall

What stands in front of me
I will knock it down
flatter than a door

Whatever is done
I will try and accept it,
even though it's not what
I wanted in the first place

Stand tall, firm on your
feet—
Never quit and
never go down without a
damn good fight.

GRANNY

(IN HONOR OF MY GRANNY GILLARD)

She was great!
She was my granny
When I fell,
She picked me up, wiped my off my knees
and said, "It was okay"

Granny,
you were a radiant, neat
and nifty you.

I think of you often
and at times I feel you are near
My guardian angel
keeping me safe-
getting me fat and
making sure I am happy

You are not here anymore to
wipe away tears —
like you did when I was young and lived
with you.

Sometimes, I wondered if you were
my mommy
for you took me in as your
child

Your shoulder was for me to lean on
Your ears were to listen
Your love was there to give

You gave of yourself, more than you
will ever know.

You fed me, and loved me when
no one else did.
You held me when I was lonely
and sad.

I still believe, that yes,
you were my mom
even if it was in my head and
in your heart.

WHICH WAY IS OUT

I know which way is in
and I know or think I know
which way is out, I'm not sure
Excuse me, which way is out of this hell?

I came in through the door
but, the door is no longer there.
And I can not get out,
I can not escape

I'm stuck and can not move on
Because I do not know which way
is out.

Someone said, "I have to fight to find
the door to the outside"—I know I'm ready,
I'm scared, but I've been scared all my life

Lets get on with it—
Tell me again which way is out.

JUDGE NOT

Judge not, lest you be judged
By the way who died and made you GOD?

And ye of no sin— cast that first
stone—
What's wrong?
Why can't you throw that stone?

I thought you had no sin—

Then what's wrong
OH? you're not GOD
thats good, admit it—

Respect is a two way street
You want respect, then you give respect
You want the truth—you give the truth

Okay, what would you do differently?
Just don't judge others unless
you are GOD
and you know what my friend?
That will NEVER happen!

NOT ALWAYS

Not always is life a bed of roses
Not always is life so perfect

Life is REAL!
all kinds of people
all kinds of problems
all kinds of trouble
all kinds of learning
that needs to be done.

Not always is there life on this
planet, that lives for all eternity
Not always is there understanding
in this world—
that people are not willing
to help and be there for someone else
Not always is life a bed of Roses.

MY HEART

My heart is lonely for the peace of mind
that only one can give me

My heart is empty,
No mom to pick me up
and wipe off my sore knees

No dad to say you're okay
just the way you are - I'm proud of you

No sister to tell your troubles to
No brother to call and ask if I need anything
and if everything is okay

But I do have someone
my Creator, my friends and
my four legged babies

My heart belongs to them

Cindy Gillard

9 October 1996

OUR HEARTS

Our hearts are meant to be one
together-
mind-body- soul

Our spirits conversing together
alone under the moon and stars

Our minds working together on
the future of our lives together

Our bodies sewn together
to create the bond that only
two people can create—
another being

A child of innocence
our hearts were
meant for each other

Cindy Gillard
9 October 1996

WINNERS

Winners are for the ones
who grow up learning
each day ——
Mistakes and how to correct
them.
Winners are people that others
believe are losers
Everybody is a winner
at heart

Believing that you are a
winner is that you believe
in yourself.

For when you believe in yourself
you're taking that first step
