روبرت بار هو كاتب وصحفي اسكتلندي كندي وُلد في جلاسجو، اسكتلندا عام 1849. عُرف بإسهاماته في أدب الجريمة خلال العصر الذهبي لهذا النوع الأدبي. اشتُهر بتقديمه أول محاكاة ساخرة لشخصية شيرلوك هولمز تحت عنوان "مغامرات شيرلو كومبس"، مما عزز مكانته ككاتب ساخر ومبدع في الأدب البوليسي. كتب العديد من المجموعات القصصية البارزة مثل "انتقام!" و"نجاحات يوجين فالمونت". يُقال إن شخصية "يوجين فالمونت" التي ابتكرها ألهمت أجاثا كريستي في إنشاء شخصية المحقق الشهير "هيركيول بوارو". توفي بار في عام 1912 متأثرًا بمرض القلب في إنجلترا.
