About the Author

George Seldes was an American Journalist for the Chicago Tribune. He covered World War I as a war correspondent under General Pershing. He spent years in Europe and witnessed the rise of Bolshevism in Russia, Fascism in Italy and later Nazism in Germany. After leaving the Tribune, he began work as an independent journalist and covered the Spanish Civil War. The mass destruction of Spain by Italian and German forces convinced Seldes to devote the rest of his life to fighting Fascism around the world.
