Is it his wife, Faith, or his spiritual faith, that leads Stephen to his fate?
Stephen Trevelyan, former successful Ivy Leaguer Madison Avenue advertising type, bounces from a mid-life crisis—fired and divorced—into the arms of a drop-dead gorgeous, angelic televangelist named Faith, who makes no bones about God having created sex for the enjpyment of His faithful followers.
Married to her, Stephen joins her bible-thumping trail to Tulsa where he is hired to try to save a failing TV station, and on the side, invests and get involved in wildcat oil wells, confident they will provide the Divine-promised hundred-fold prosperity.
Disillusion slowly tests Stephen's faith due to his inside exposure to less than holy shenanigans behind the scenes in both ministries and Christian TV, as well as the oil fields.
Worse, his angelic nympho turns demonic, her devastating behavior resulting in an irreparable clash, Stephen's disappointment, departure, a new liaison, more remorse, and an unexpected fate in store for him that the reader will never forget.

H. Avery Chenoweth, Sr., majored in Art & Architecture History at Princeton University and upon graduation was commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve.
After immediate infantry service in the Korean War, he entered local television before earning an M.F.A. at the University of Florida, joining the faculty to teach in its School of Journalism & Communications. He later studied theology at a seminary.
His six-decade civilian career was in local and network television, national advertising on Madison Avenue in New York, and local and national publishing. He was director/cinematographer/editor of a one-hour NBC TV Special in 1972 that won the Gabriel and Christopher national awards; he directed and produced dozens of national TV spots and a number of industrial films in his own film/TV company.
During this time, he was active in the Marine Corps Reserve, volunteering for Marine Corps historical projects twice in Vietnam, and, as a colonel in 1990, called back to active duty to head the Marine Corps History Division’s Combat Art program in Saudi Arabia for Desert Shield and Desert Storm (for which he received the Legion of Merit)—in the latter he drove a camouflaged jeep Cherokee in the middle of the 1st Marine Division’s assault through Kuwait and was one of the first to enter Kuwait City. His combat art has been exhibited in the Smithsonian, the Air & Space Museum (presently), the Pentagon, National Museum of the Marine Corps, Congress, the Overseas Press Club, and the British Royal Marine Museum, plus others.
It was during the Gulf War that, as a student of Biblical eschatology and with the experiences of war in the desert, the idea for The Final Battle evolved.
In 2002, Barnes & Noble in New York published his seminal and classic, oversized/illustrated history of American combat art, entitled ART OF WAR: Eyewitness U.S. Combat Art from the Revolution through the Twentieth Century (under its Friedman Fairfax imprint), which sold over 35,000 copies. In 2005, Barnes & Noble (under its Main Street imprint) published his SEMPER FI:The Definitive Illustrated History of the U.S. Marines, an oversized 480-page, 1,100 illustrationed volume, which was revised and updated in 2010 (Fall River imprint) and has sold over 100,000 copies.
