About the Author

Nadine M. Aktan, PhD, RN, FNP-BC, received her bachelor’s degree in nursing, master’s degree in nursing, and doctoral degree in nursing from Rutgers University College of Nursing and Graduate School in New Brunswick and Newark, NJ. She is currently employed as an Assistant Professor at William Paterson University in Wayne, NJ, teaching future nurses and nurse practitioners. She also practices as a Family Nurse Practitioner at The Immedicenter, an urgent care/family practice in Clifton, Bloomfield, and Totowa, NJ, as well as at Eva’s Village Medical Clinic in Paterson, NJ, one of five in the state to provide free medical care to the indigent.
