Chapter One

(FRIDAY-MARCH 13, 2002) (INT.—MATT'S ROOM—MATT'S HOME—COAL-LANDS) —(2:10PM)

(Matt is sleeping all so peacefully in his bed, well he is until the telephone that is on the floor and next to the bed will start to ring, and the loudness of the ringing will wake him up. Matt tosses and turns in his bed as he is doing his best to ignore the phone so he can go back to sleep. He puts a pillow over his head in hopes of blocking out the irritating rings from the persistent caller, which Matt already knows that it is his girlfriend Alisa calling since she likes to let the phone ring, and ring until he finally answers it, or until the Answering machine does. The annoying ringing will be halted thanks to the Answering machine, and while it is answering the persistent caller Matt will continue to struggle in his full sized bed to try and fall back to sleep since he is still exhausted from his late night festivities.)

MATT'S PRE-RECORDED MESSAGE: "Hi!" (He coughs a little from the Marijuana that he was smoking when he recorded this imbecilic message.) MATT: "This is, well it is me. It's Matt." (A lighter can be heard on the recording since Matt will be using it again.) MATT: "I'm not able to get to the phone at this time because I am either gone, passed the fuck out somewhere. Hell, maybe even both." (Matt becomes quiet for a number of seconds, and then he will cough some more, except this time it will sound as if he is about to cough up his lungs. Matt will clear his throat so that he can speak better.) MATT: "Or I might not want to talk to anyone since I could be busy getting me some mad puss ..." (The recording will end since it does not have any more space to record anything else on it. After it's over Matt's girlfriend Alisa will leave a message for him.)

ALISA: "Matt, are you there?" (She waits in silence to see if Matt will answer her call if he is awake, which he won't even try to do since he is still trying to go back to sleep.) ALISA: "Come on Matt please answer the phone!" (She waits again and still nothing will happen.) ALISA: "Well, whenever you get home, or manage to wake up please make sure you call me. I have something that is important to tell you. Something I know you will like, okay cutie? Well, I have some work to do around the house, but I guess I will talk to you later. I hope that I do." (Alisa starts to make kissing sounds for Matt.) ALISA:"I love you, honey!" (Once Alisa has left the message she will hang up the phone on her end, and the answering machine will turn off. Normally Matt would have answered her call, but he will be extremely tired from partying all night long with his friends. So with the phone now quiet again Matt removes the pillow away from his head, and he'll get comfortable again so that he can go back to sleep before he really does have to wake up, which Matt had the alarm clock of his already set for.)

"That's me Matt Phillips, just your average 20 year old Pothead. By now, I am sure you all are saying that I am just another loser. A worthless good for nothing dope head. If so then I would have to say you are right, I am all of those things. Well, I used to be. This is how my life was day in, and day out, I mean I would usually just stay up all night and party with my friends, or sometimes I would just get high all by myself. Never in my life did I ever expect anything different, or anything good to happen to me. All my life really was back then was something like a rerun, a wasted existence that was filled with weed and fornication, which was not that bad back then, but like all things, it had to change. My whole 20 years worth of living has been nothing, but a boring life where it seemed like I was destined for nothing, but man was I wrong. Shit, I never would have expected what was to come next for me, and it happened on a day that seemed to be like all the rest, but it was nothing like I had expected. It was on that same day when my life changed forever. It changed in ways that a person has never seen before, or ever thought to be possible and I even found out the truth behind who I really am, and the truth about my own Destiny." (With everything now quiet and peaceful again Matt will finally manage to go back to sleep.)

(INT.—MATT'S ROOM—MATT'S HOME—COAL-LANDS) —(3:32PM)

(The Alarm Clock in his room will begin to go off, and it will wake him up. The super annoying beeping is driving him crazy so he will try to turn it off. Since he is still half-asleep, Matt can barely see the alarm clock. Instead of struggling to turn, it off Matt takes it in hand, and tosses it across the room. When it hits the wall it will not only put an end to the annoying beeping, but it will also render the clock useless since it is now in several pieces on the floor. Once he has pulled himself out of bed he will grab a pre-rolled weed filled cigar off the small bedside table. Matt uses his trusty Green Zippo lighter to fire the blunt up. After Matt has it lit, he smokes on it and wakes up.)

(INT.—BATHROOM—MATT'S HOME) —(SECONDS LATER!)

(Matt will come walking into the bathroom with the weed blunt still in his mouth. Before he does his business, he will sit the smoking weed blunt into a nearby ashtray. Once he has finished using the restroom he will wash his hands in the sink. Once he dries his hands on a towel, he will get the weed blunt back out of the ashtray so he can continue to get even higher off it. After he exhales a big cloud of brain damaging smoke Matt will take a quick whiff of his underarm, and he will become disgusted by the smell, which is telling him it is time for a bath. But before Matt even decides to start the bathwater he'll decide to go back to his room and get his CD player so that he can listen to some music while he smokes on some pot and relaxes in the bathtub.)

(INT.—BATHROOM—MATT'S HOME) —(MINUTES LATER!)

(Matt will now be lying in the warm and bubbly water relaxing, and still smoking on the weed blunt. Some music will be blasting from his CD player that he'll have sitting on a small wooden shelf that is basically right above him, and the bathwater, which is not the smartest thing to do, but then again neither is smoking massive amounts of Marijuana, or using any other Drugs. While Matt is relaxing in the bathtub, he'll have his eyes closed. The bathroom door will slowly ease open, and his pet cat "Mary Jane" comes creeping in. Some how Matt's mischievous cat will find a way to get up on the same shelf that the CD player is sitting on, and the cat will peer down at him. Matt starts to choke on a huge toke of pot smoke so badly that his eyes will open up while he will be coughing. As soon as Matt opens his eyes that is when he'll catch a glimpse of his cat while it is up on the same shelf that his electrically charged CD player is on, and he knows that his cat likes to mess around, which is not a good thing at this time.)

MATT: "M.J., what in the hell do you think you are doing? Get the fuck out of here bitch! This isn't a free show, and you better watch what you are doing because I damn sure don't want you to knock that shit down a ..." (But before Matt will finish talking his cat accidentally, or purposely bumps into the CD player, and causes it to fall right on down into the bathwater with him, and as soon as it hits the soapy warm water Matt is electrocuted. Luckily, for Matt the power cord will become unplugged before the electrical current could kill him. When he regains his senses Matt will then glare straight up towards Mary Jane, and that is when he will see it staring down at him with what appears to be a big grin on its small furry face, which angers him a lot.)

MATT: "Oh, did you think that shit was funny?" (He'll be angry and a shaken up due to his near death experience from being electrocuted, and if the CD player wouldn't have came unplugged when it did then he would've been shocked to death. So with Matt being so irritated and basically half cooked he will decide to grab the now ruined and water logged CD player from the bathwater, and he will toss it straight up at his cat. He'll miss the cat, but it will still hit the corner of the shelf with a hard enough impact that causes Mary Jane to be shaken off the shelf, and it will fall right on down into the nasty urine filled toilet. Shortly after witnessing what has happened to his cat Matt laughs a little, and he will go back to smoking the Pot like nothing happened with his near death experience. Mary Jane climbs out of the toilet and it is soaked with urine.)

(INT.—MATT'S BEDROOM—MATT'S HOME) —(MINUTES LATER!)

(Matt comes into the doorway of his bedroom with nothing, but a towel wrapped around his waist. Before he takes another step, he will take a real good look at the gigantic mess that his room is in, which is because of excessive partying and laziness.) MATT: "Goddamn, my room is trashed!" (He proceeds over to his bed and sits down. He grabs one of his pillowcases. He will then reach inside of it. He pulls out a big bag of weed and lays it on a small bedside table of his right next to some cigars, which he plans to use soon enough to roll up some weed blunts.) MATT: "I've got to quit being so fuckin' lazy and finally clean this place up." (Matt dumps a good-sized amount of the Marijuana down onto the bedside table. Next Matt grabs one of the cigars that are on the table so that he can remove the tobacco out of it, and then replace it with the weed to make another weed blunt for him to smoke on.)

(INT.—LIVING ROOM AREA—MATT'S HOME) —(MINUTES LATER!)

(Matt is fully dressed again, but in a different attire than the one he had on when he first woke up. When he comes into the Living Room Matt goes and takes a seat on the recliner, which is in front of the entertainment stand, and the Television set. In his mouth is another weed blunt, and before he will even try to light it, he turns the television on with the remote. As soon as he will find something good to watch on it that is when he will fire the blunt up. While Matt is trying to enjoy the evening by getting high and watching the television the telephone that is on the small end table next to the recliner will start ringing again, and before he answers it he will take a quick glance at the Caller I.D. screen to see who it is calling him. When he looks at it, he will see that it is his girlfriend Alisa calling him again. Since he knows that, she is not going to give up until he answers the phone Matt will decide to answer the call.) MATT: "Yeah, what are you doing your royal sexiness?"

ALISA: "About time you answered. Where have you been all day? And why didn't you call me back last night like you promised?" MATT:"I was going to, (He coughs a little from the pot smoke.) but my bud Jordan and I got into some of my Dad's blueberries, and he brought over a pint of good liquor. Then we drank all of it, smoked two, or three blunts, and well the rest is blank. I hope you know that I did not do that shit on purpose. You see Jordan and I made a dumb ass bet to see who could out party who, and well you know how I can get when it comes to bets, hence is why I almost slept all day." ALISA: "Yeah, I know how you are. And I also know how you two can get whenever you party together." MATT: "Listen, I know that you're mad at me, but I can ..." ALISA: "That's okay, i'm not mad at you. It's just that I've been sitting here all night, and day worrying myself sick thinking that you might have become tired of me, and found someone else to get with last night."

(Alisa's speech is slurred due to her excess inebriation.) MATT: "How can I get tired of my one, and only true love? Come on you know I only have eyes for you. You do know that right?" ALISA: "I guess I do. So, what have you been doing since you got up?" MATT: "Well, i'm doing what I normally do, just getting H.I, and how about you my wild and sexy nymphomaniac, what have you been doing?" ALISA: "Not much of anything besides cleaning all damn morning, well, that and I have been thinking about you too. So, when are you going to come and see me? You know you haven't come down to see me in almost two weeks now."

(Since Matt will be too busy watching something on the Television, and still in the middle of smoking on the pot blunt, he didn't hear a word that she has said to him or respond to any of her questions.) ALISA: "Have you heard anything that I said to you?" (Matt manages to hear Alisa's comments this time while he is putting the weed-filled cigar out into the nearby ashtray, which is sitting on a small table right beside of the recliner.) MATT: "No, I didn't. I was too busy getting high, and watching one of these fucked up cartoons. It's some funny shit. You should turn it to channel thirteen."

ALISA: "I'm not worried about those stupid ass cartoons. I just wanted to know if you were going to finally come down, and hang out with me tonight. I really do miss you a whole lot sweetie." (Matt finishes his soda off within a matter of seconds, he will light a cigarette up, and while he's smoking, Alisa is pouring herself another shot of liquor.) MATT: "Come on now you don't miss me, you just miss my dick!"

(Alisa will finish the shot of liquor.) ALISA: "Yeah, well I miss it too. That's one of the reasons I wanted you to come down tonight." MATT: "We both know that we can't do any thing naughty with your mom always there." ALISA: "She isn't gonna be here this weekend since she had to go visit my sick grandma who lives in Georgia. She said she might not come back home until late Tuesday, or early Wednesday. And I really don't want to be left here alone, this place is creepy at night, especially with those crack heads running around starting shit and breaking into every damn thing that they can."

MATT: "Uh and you want me to come down? I'm not that sure if I should because if something happened, and she did catch us there together she would definitely flip out, grab her gun, and shoot my wang off. You know I love you and I want to be with you, but I don't want to lose my manhood over it, and if she is bad off maybe you should have went too. Your mom probably would have liked it if you went with her." ALISA:"I asked her if she wanted me to go, and she was so stressed out by the heating company talking about coming by and fixing our heaters. She told me to stay here so that I could clean this place before they came by, if they decide to show up this time."

MATT: "Damn, so, what is wrong with her?" (Matt flips the cigarette ashes down into the ashtray.) ALISA:"I think they said it could be Lung Cancer." (As soon as Matt has heard the comment about her grandma's unfortunate illness, he will stare at his own cigarette with disgust. It isn't even half smoked and he will put it out into the nearby ashtray. Before Matt answers Alisa's question about coming down to visit with her he will take a bit of time to think things over, like what he should do since he isn't that sure if Alisa is lying or actually being honest for once. Considering the countless times that her mother has warned, and or threatened him about being with her daughter in her home Matt doesn't want to risk his manhood over something stupid; The very first time Matt met Alisa's mother she told him to never try anything sexual with Alisa in her home and if they did and she had discovered it, or ever caught them engaged in the sinful acts of the flesh herself she would get her gun and blow Matt's genitals off.)

(The whole thought of her mom's numerous threats will scare Matt from the entire notion of going over to Alisa's even if she is telling him the truth about her mom being out of town, which Matt still does not believe.) MATT: "You know that I'd love to honey, but I have a ton of business related shit to deal with today. I have to get back up with Jordan's dumb ass and pay him the cash that I owe him, and then I have to go and score some more bud because i'm almost out. Then my father also wants me and Jordan to go out, and see if we can find him a few blue ..." ALISA: "And doing all of that is much more important than coming to spend some time with your lonely girlfriend?"
