About the Author

Otto Lynch was born and raised in Texas. As a boy he had many interests and was an avid reader. He read about gold mining and the California gold rush, which is how his interest in prospecting began. With time that interest became greater and greater. When Otto was 21 his family moved to California and he had his first opportunity to do some gold prospecting. He bought a gold pan and went to a gravel bar on the Kern River near Bakersfield, California, where, on his first prospecting trip he found some of the gold he had only read about previously. Talk about gold fever; he really had it! In his younger days, his friends nicknamed him "Rocky"; He was a rockhound bar none and made some beautiful jewelry out of agate, tiger's eye, and fire opal.
