About the Author

Gwyn Headley’s comfortably blurred memories of the 1960s include failing to become a rock star (despite playing with Hendrix, Clapton, Pink Floyd, John Lee Hooker, the Small Faces and others) and instead discovering a passion for architecture and typography at St. Martin’s School of Art in London’s Charing Cross Road. His life in book publishing has been distracted by his delight in architecture, in particular for small buildings of dubious utility, by writing books on architecture, fonts, Mah-Jong and follies, including “Architectural Follies in America”; by selling listed heritage buildings; and by founding fotoLibra.com, the world’s first entirely digital picture library. A London Welshman, he has spent eight months of his life at the Frankfurt Book Fair and to his eternal regret has never scored a try for Llanelli or Wales.

Wim Meulenkamp is a celebrated Dutch art historian. With Gwyn Headley he has co-authored “Follies: A National Trust Guide”, “Follies: A Guide to Rogue Architecture” and “Follies Grottoes and Garden Buildings”, as well as the forty ebooks in the “Follies of England’ series. By himself he has written over a dozen books on art and architectural history, including “Follies — Bizarre Bouwwerken in Nederland en België.” He has a predilection for Scotch whisky and large black cigars.
