Overview

Storyteller A. Karl Boehmke retells 40 stories from Bible times – old-time favorites plus some very likely new to you – about people trying to get along with each other and with God; sometimes succeeding brilliantly, sometimes failing miserably. When they do get along, it's because they have learned to accept forgiveness and learned to forgive in turn. They discover that forgiveness never comes cheap, always there is a price to be paid; but when forgiveness does come -- deep forgiveness, that is -- the reward outweighs the cost a hundred times over.

Here are some of the characters you’ll meet as the stories unfold (remember any?): Cain and Abel, Abraham and Sarah, Joseph, Ruth, Jonah , John the Baptizer, Jesus, Simon Peter, Thomas, Judas Iscariot, Paul of Tarsus. Lots more.

For starters, you’ll meet a present-day honeymooning couple, each wondering whether their new marriage can survive. They stumble across "The Inn of Friendships Renewed.” Guests at the inn include families torn apart by insult or misunderstanding, plus one-time friends who don’t speak to each other any more -- why? Everyone listens to the 40 stories recounted in front of a great hearth. The couple start listening to their own hearts and to each other. Finally, . . . well, why not read the book for yourself? When you finish recognizing certain of your own acquaintances or family members in the Bible characters, you may just find yourself wondering, could that story possibly be about me?”
