Friday and the Magic Wand is Book I of The Essence, an exciting serial ghost story about the adventures of three children alone at home for the weekend.

Seventeen year old Alyssa Dempsey has been asked by her parents to take care of her two younger brothers. On their first morning alone, Alyssa discovers that her four year old brother Sean received a magical glass wand from a pair of ghosts he calls the Buddies. Along with their thirteen year old brother Bradley, the three Dempsey children begin interacting with a dark and dangerous spirit world in which the owner of the wand lives, and from whom it was stolen.

The Essence will continue with Book II, Saturday and the Nothing (July 2013), and conclude with Book III, Sunday and the Brothers (October 2013).

About the Author

Raised by wolves after being abandoned by his parents in the northern Minnesota wilderness, Vel Grande taught himself to read using the journals of lost hikers eaten by his pack. When he is not writing, Vel enjoys board gaming and howling at the stars while travelling the open road at night. Friday and the Magic Wand, Book One of The Essence, is his first novel.

Vel currently resides in International Falls, Minnesota, where keeping warm is actually a profession.
