“From IP to IPO” by Dr. Abraham Gill is a valuable book for both small and large business owners, teaching you ways to bring your creative ideas alive and into reality. From how to determine if your idea is already available, to tips to safeguard your creative ideas with copyright and trademark, to ways to negotiate contracts, decide on royalties, and sell your idea to larger companies, it’s very insightful. It has easy to follow guides for writing an EP (Elevator Pitch) or an ES (Executive Summary) of your product, as well as constructive ideas on how to build a business plan and a business model. The book also offers extensive details on well-researched surveys to help further your understanding, with suggestions on how to out maneuver your competition. With this book, the mystery of creating your own business using your own ideas is unlocked. It offers valuable information on pricing, advertising models, and advertising methods, as well as marketing strategy and competitive analysis procedures. It covers the value of social networking – how and why you might need to design a website with SEO and how to manage your LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, EBay or Etsy profiles – with insights as to which social media formats may be most effective for your business. The author is also a successful business owner and details much of his own family and business history, which is an encouraging insight on how the process worked well for him. While the end of the book got off-target and was confusing, with a good deal of proofreading needed, the key points it hit were valuable. This book is a great tool for anyone ready to be the entrepreneur and step out on their own, as it is packed full with graphs, quizzes, charts, tables, and case studies on successful businesses.
