“Success is in the jaws of defeat” That is the quote Dashawn Taylor lives by. Since a young child, Dashawn has always been considered to be a driven person. Even while growing up in his hometown of Trenton, New Jersey, Dashawn used his street smarts, book smarts and drive to make the right decisions on the road to success. At the age of 11, Dashawn started his first business. He sold his bus tickets to his classmates every day for 2 years. He used the money to buy records and studio equipment to start his first rap group. Hip-Hip music influenced Dashawn throughout his life. And soon after graduating college at Rutgers University, Dashawn founded Real-hiphop.com with his partner Kyle Newsome. In 2003, Real-Hiphop.com broke online records by reaching over 5 million unique users per month. Because of the success of the online magazine a print version of the website was launched. In November of 2004, Real-Hiphop.com::The Magazine was founded. Real-Hiphop.com has opened many doors for Dashawn. In fact, in his new book “From Poverty To Power Moves”, Dashawn tells of his road to success and gives the new generation of entrepreneurs tips on how to be successful.
