�From The Shepherd�s Staff� is a book that captures the written reflections of a pastor to his congregation. These reflections are devotional material designed to bring the Bible, the newspaper, and life�s challenges together in a comprehensive fit, showing spiritual and alternative ways of viewing what continuously happens around us every day. These words made it to paper because there is some subject matter that requires more time for proper and extensive discussion than Sunday morning worship allows. Because of their broad impact, these personal reflections extend from the congregation to the community at large. This book also allows a significant peek into the life of a shepherd and his flock, and also serves as a primer on how to integrate one�s Christian witness into the larger society.

About the Author

Dr. Noel G. L. Hutchinson, Jr. since 1995 has been the pastor of First Baptist Church Lauderdale in Memphis, Tennessee. A native of the Bronx, New York, he obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Brandeis University, his Master of Divinity from Drew Theological School located in Madison, New Jersey, and the Doctor of Ministry degree from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio.

Dr. Hutchinson previously served as the College Chaplain at LeMoyne-Owen College. Under his leadership, LeMoyne-Owen began a Faith in Action Community Conference in partnership with the Congress of National Black Churches, Memphis Affiliate. ??Through the Pastoral Excellence Program with the Lott Carey Mission Convention, Dr. Hutchinson has preached throughout the world in various countries that include Guyana, South America; Jamaica, West Indies; Turin, Italy and Cape Town, South Africa. ???Dr. Hutchinson has also been active in various local civic and community efforts, serving on various boards, and is a 1997 graduate of Leadership Memphis. At First Baptist, Dr. Hutchinson is the founder of Mustard Seed, Inc., a separate 501c3 nonprofit created in 2002 centered on community empowerment. ??
Since November 2012, he is the host of 'Black Thought', a show seen weekdays on MUTV1, Memphis' first Black owned TV station. ?
