Dressed in dark trousers and an open-collared cream shirt, he was leaning back in a leather chair, his feet propped on the corner of his desk. Finished in burgundy leather, it was strewn with files and papers. She watched him as he talked on the telephone, his free arm hooked behind his head. His dark hair was ruffled and untamed, his jaw shadowed with a day’s growth of beard. He looked rakish, dangerous, and even more attractive than she remembered.
