Such a sweet storyline and still sexy, I could not put it down!!! Relateable and kept me smiling the whole time!

I love Emma Chase and have pretty much adored every book of hers I have read.  But I will be honest I judged a book by its cover.  I saw the cover and the title and thought this book was a Hot for teacher book.  You know a book where the teacher gets involved with a student, (I was thinking college)  but still gah no.  I guess I should have read the blurb sooner LOL.  Yep, I can be a dork.   No this isn’t hot for teacher book this is a second chance romance and one that I absolutely loved.  It revolves around a high school history teacher/football coach.  Chase was able to capture all those feeling of high school and first love and wrap it up in a big ball of nostalgia.  I was reminiscing big time reading this one.  Ah first love.   Callie comes back home from across the country to take care of her parents when they are in a rather compromising accident.  I won't spoil it for you, but it is hilarious.  She needs to stay and help take care of them for almost a year.  (I don’t know what kind of family leave her job has but dang luck!) She gets a job subbing at the school, and that’s where she and Garrett reconnect.   I love, love, love second chance romances especially when there are high school sweethearts.  The nostalgia that it brings back is bittersweet without the awkward pain of being a teen again.  Because really who would do that?

This love story is like comfort food in a book - two high school sweethearts brought back together after many years apart, a small town inhabited by great characters, hysterical high school teens as seen though the eyes of their teachers, families that have little angst and actually love each other, and a sexy, happy, interesting story line. In this duel POV book, Callie is the girl who left her small, east coast town for a west coast college and stayed to build her career in the theater. And Garrett is the football coach/history teacher who loves his town, his students, his family, and the girl he let go to find her dream. Through his voice, you find the humor in all the everyday encounters that make up his life, and you experience the love and lust he rediscovers when his high school sweetheart returns home for an extended stay. It's steamy hot without being completely raunchy, and you can't help but love all the characters including Garrett's dog, Snoopy. This is one you can read over and over.

Getting Schooled by Emma Chase (Audiobook) Narrated by: Zachary Webber and Andi Arndt Series: Getting Schooled #1 4.5 Stars. Right from the start this book had me chucking. Garrett had a great sense of humour, and he was a super sweet guy. Callie was a wonderful match for him. The high school kids added some nice fullness to the story. I really enjoyed this sweet second chance story. Zachary Webber and Andi Arndt created a wonderful performance as usual. ~ Paragraphs and Petticoats ~

I really loved listening to this on Audiobook! Andi Arnt and Zachary Webber did an amazing job bringing Garrett and Callie to life. This was a true second chance romance if I've ever read one. Garrett and Callie were high school sweethearts and thought they would always stay together. Then life happened and things started to pull them apart. Callie moved to California to pursue her theater dreams and Garrett ended back in their hometown after his football career ended. When Callie's parents are injured in a minor, hilarious, accident, Callie has to come back home. This puts her back in Garrett's sight and they rekindle their romance. Garrett is now the high school football coach and a teacher at their old high school... and boy does coaching do a body good! He is all for having a second chance at having a relationship with Callie for as long as she will allow or until she goes back to California. Callie comes back as the theater teacher for the year and falls in love with her students and teaching. This leaves her with a dilemma on what to do once her parents are healed up. This story really made walking through the halls of high school fun and enjoyable.

Getting Schooled is Emma Chase's new epic second chance love story. I have read all of Emma's books and I have to say this is my favorite! I realize that is a bold statement, but it's true. It's hard to articulate how I feel about this book without just saying "I love it so much."Emma is just one of those writers who makes you feel so much with her words. She brings up memories, thoughts, feelings, desires. I can smell the trees. Hear the crowds. See the faces. Getting Schooled gave me all the feels. ALL! I laughed out loud, cried big fat tears, had to fan myself, cringed, smiled, and laughed more. These characters were everything! Garrett and Callie were high school sweethearts who were truly in love. It was real, all-encompassing love. They didn't fall out of love, they just wanted to follow their dreams. That took Callie to California and Garrett stayed close to home. When Callie needs to come home to help her parents, the minute she sees Garrett the sparks are flying. Callie takes a teaching job at the high school…with Garrett. She's not prepared for the students to be, well…total jerks. She needs help and Garrett is just the man for the job. Along the way, Callie starts to care about her students and what's she's doing with her classes. And she starts to care about Garrett. More and more every day. They realize they never stopped loving each other. It was always them. But Callie is only there temporarily. What happens if they fall in love again only to have her leave? Would it be worth it? Garrett wants to go all in. He didn't realize he was waiting for Callie to come home. He needs her in his life. Callie won't let go of Garrett again. Will her life take her back across the country or will she realize she was always meant to come home. To this town. To this man. I loved every damn second of this book. It wasn't only the rekindling of love between Garrett and Callie. It was the other teachers. The kids. Their families. It's the start of a new series and I already love this town and the people in it so much. As a New York, Italian, I loved it even more. Give me my Bill Joel, the Jersey Shore and these crazy people! Coach D and Callie stole my heart. Bring on Dean!

Those who regularly read my reviews will be all too aware that I very, very rarely give 5 out of 5, so you know that if I do rate a book 5 it is going to be exceptional, entirely consuming all the way through to the last page. Shh don’t tell anyone but I have a terrible habit of having to flip to the back to make sure the story pans out the way I hope it will (I know, I know don’t judge) BUT I wasn’t tempted in the slightest with Getting Schooled – it absolutely kept my attention, the characters were mesmerizing and I wanted to feel all the emotions alongside them. Garrett and Callie were high school sweethearts, the power couple, the quarterback and the theatre queen, first love and bright futures until a minor mishap derailed their plans. Needing to place distance between herself and the memories Callie heads off to university in San Diego while Garrett remains in their New Jersey hometown. The long distance relationship was a lot harder to maintain than either of them anticipated, so although they loved each other they ultimately went their separate ways. Brought back together thanks to a hilarious car accident Callie’s parents are involved in, requiring Callie to return to New Jersey in order to help her sister while their parents recuperate. With the required time being just under a year, Garrett and Callie’s lives once more become intertwined when Callie becomes a drama teacher at the school Garrett already works and coaches. All of their previous feelings come surging back as they spend time together. The only black cloud on the horizon is the finite timespan on their relationship with Callie’s life in San Diego she had planned on returning to. What really made the difference for me in giving Getting Schooled a 5* rating was how relatable the characters and situations were especially for someone working within education. Parts of the narrative were unbelievably insightful, I think this is the most I have ever highlighted sentences and paragraphs through a book in order to refer back to the tidbits of wisdom imparted within the narrative. I can honestly say there was not a single part of Getting Schooled I didn’t completely love, even when it reduced me to tears

Emma Chase goes to the top of the class with her first instalment from the Getting Some series. GETTING SCHOOLED is a top scoring second chance romance between high school sweethearts Garrett Daniels and Callaway Carpenter. Although the teenage dream team spilt when it came time to go to college there was nothing childish about the level of devotion they had to one another. Many years have passed and Garrett has gone from popular quaterback to beloved high school coach. He loves his town and his pupils but it’s the return of Callie that truly brings him a sense of home and peace. The shock of getting a call to say her parents had been in an accident pales to the force of emotion when she experiences when comes face to Garrett after all this time. She knows she’ll have to settle in town for the forcible future to aid her parents recovery, but what she doesn’t expect is how easy it would be to revert to the life she had before she left. I adored the ease of this romance. Garrett and Callie were transparent with the resurgence of their feelings and and it made for a highly enjoyable sweet and flirty read. The additional elements of comedy combined with some emotional scenes gave it an edge to it’s otherwise wholesomeness. If you're looking for an education in the perfect romance read, you really ought to be Getting Schooled.

I received a free copy of this book from the author. Garrett and Callie are high school sweethearts - it's been ten years since they were together though.  Thanks to Callie's crazy parents they are reunited when Callie returns back home to teach for a year while helping her parents recuperate from broken legs.  Callie was just promoted to her dream job - Executive Director of a theater in San Diego, California.  Who would have thought, low and behold, a leave of absence would change her life.  Teaching was definitely not something she thought she'd ever do - to high school students in a classroom anyway.   Garrett is the sweetest guy.  I loved his character.  He's the perfect fictional guy.  Of course he has a few flaws but for the most part Garrett is *the guy.* It's easy to see why he has women falling at his feet though Callie is the only woman he's ever loved and wanted. The lessons these two learn in this book are pretty true to life lessons.  Stuff happens it's how you react and get over the issues that can set yourself apart.  Garrett and Callie definitely show their strengths in this book.  I think you will enjoy this great book from Emma Chase!

I haven't pulled an all nighter to read a book in awhile, but this book was impossible to put down! Page-turner til the very end. Seriously cute, summer read. It had me cracking up at the bits of humor in there. The teachers bickering back and forth, that scene cracked me up... and had me thinking, does all that really happen? Sounds... entertaining! Haha! Garrett and Callie have this easy going relationship. I love that even after so many years, they still come together and it's like nothing's changed...well aside from the fact that they've gotten better at certain activities as they've aged! *wink wink* There were some pretty scorching scenes, and you could feel the passion between the two lovebirds, flying off the pages. For me, this book had it all. The passion, the sarcasm, the heart, the tiny bit of heartbreak that had me tearing up, the growth, it was an all out whirlwind of emotions for me... in a good way. You get to experience all these feelings alongside Callie and Garrett and I think one of my favorite parts was when Callie finally realizes what she wants. It takes her a few minutes with Ollie to come to the realization, but I was so happy with the ending. It was sappy, adorable and totally perfect. The way this author writes, it's so easy to get swept into the story and feel it. She even had me liking those a-hole teenagers after awhile and it's "cool" that we get to see their growth. Loving this author and can't wait to read more of her work! #B2BKristina

I love how Emma wrote so many awesome secondary characters, especially Callie and Garrett’s family. The reason why Callie had to move back and stay for a year in Lakeside, NJ, is her parents LOL They were in a car accident— not the reason why I’m laughing —because they were very affectionate with each other *chuckles* and well, they both needed to be taken care of and only Callie could do it, because her sister— another awesome secondary character —couldn’t do it all by herself. Garrett’s family was great too, but his brother, Connor, and his family drama was so funny to read LOL OMG I feel like Connor needs his own book. I bet that would be a great and entertaining story to read. I laugh out loud, hysterically so, every time I’ve read this book. I’ve swoon of love for Garrett. I’ve dreamed of being Callie so many times— she’s so lucky. I’ve cried like a baby at one point in the story. Getting Schooled is the kind of books that make me feel all the emotions, without causing me a heart attack— zero angst, thank god —and I love it more and more every time I repeat it. Callie was funny, smart, caring, smart and has the best taste in music and men ;) She’s one of those characters that I just had to love from the very first line I read about her and that I loved more with every chapter that I read. One of the things I loved the most about her is that she knew Garrett by heart and she knew what he needed. No matter how many years they were apart, she knew him and that made more easy for her to fall back in love with him. Oh, Garrett… Hot, sexy, cocky and absolute perfect Garrett. What else can I say about him that I haven’t said in this top 10? He’s one helluva guy. I love how he much he loves his family, his kids at school, his friends, his cute Snoopy and of course, Callie. What an awesome second chance for Garrett and Callie!! I loved how they fall back in love with each other. Slowly, steadily, creating a new relationship more solid, more mature. I love how Emma wrote the story without giving away quickly what happened in the past that set them apart but revealing it in the right moment, giving the story the perfect amount of feels. Because this book has all the feels!!

Frankly, I’m amazed ha’ve enjoyed every single Emma Chase book I’ve read—and by now I believe I’ve gone through her entire body of work. The winning streak continues with Getting Schooled. I brought this book with me on vacation, and I couldn’t have chosen a more perfect beach read. It’s pure hilarity and romance, without an ounce of silly conflicts to spoil the good times. Callie and Garrett finally get a second chance at love decades after being high school sweethearts. This time around, they’re teachers at their alma matter. It’s a tender, funny, and sweet reunion. I love their familiarity and chemistry. The story is told from dual points of view. While I enjoyed Callie’s perspective immensely, it is Garrett’s take on his everyday life that steals the show. I especially loved his observations about high school students and their frequently ridiculous behavior. I found the story to be laugh-out-loud, tears-rolling-down-my-face funny. The teachers’ staff meeting scene is epic. I must have re-read it four times and laughed just as hard each time. From Callie’s randy hippie parents to the school principal who loves to hate everyone, the book is overflowing with characters that will tickle your funny bone. This story is guaranteed to bring joy to your heart. Getting Schooled is book one in a new series, and I’m so glad because I need more! I’d love to see Garrett’s divorced brother, Connor, get his own story. Single father stories are my Kryptonite! It would also be fun to see Jake’s best friend and assistant coach, Dean, find love. Whoever is next, I’ll be ready and waiting with open arms.

I loved every minute of reading this book. Even the minutes that had tears rolling down my face. Garret and Callie were expertly crafted characters and it was lovely watching them reunite. As a New Jersey native, it was especially nice to see Emma Chase create a New Jersey town and have it play a role in the book. Garret and Callie were high school sweethearts but life and college separated them. When Callie returns to her hometown to take care of her parents (who, btw, had the most amusing and cringe-worthy accident), she quickly runs into Garret again. Garret is the local history teacher and football coach and Callie ends up becoming the drama teacher. Full of a cast of interesting and well-developed minor characters, Getting Schooled is a lovely story. Callie and Garret quickly realize that neither has gotten over the other. The return to home for Callie means a chance to examine her life and realize that Garret is what she wants. This story has humor, love, and at times, provokes tears. Plus adorable dogs which is always a plus. Garret and Callie just fit as a couple and their love story is believable. Not angst but rather sweet, Getting Schooled is the perfect summer read, especially when you need a break from the tragedies in the real world. I totally recommend!

When Callie gets the phone call saying her parents were in a car accident she doesn’t hesitate to rush home to help out. They will need assistance for a year so she puts her life in San Diego on hold and her dream job and moves back into her parents house and takes a job teaching drama in the high school. Garrett is a teacher and the high school football coach. He has built himself a life and is surrounded by friends but once Callie, his high school sweetheart and the only woman he ever loved, returns home it is like a missing part of him is back. Garret and Callie were young and in love until Callie needed to leave town to attend university and their relationship was unable to survive. From the moment they see each again it was like they had never been apart and they had never gotten over each other but will they both be left with broken hearts when the year is over? This story is a second chance at love for two soulmates that is full of laughs, tears, romance and everything in between. The narration was superb and it made you feel like you were right there experiencing it along with the characters.

This review is for an ARC and is my unbiased, honest opinion. Words cannot express how much I loved this book. GAHHHH!! I’m seriously just so in love right now that I want to pick this right back up and start it from the beginning. It was perfection. I loved the story, the characters, the town, etc. I just have ALL the feels after finishing this amazing story. Step aside book boyfriends because there’s a new guy at the top of my list. Garrett Daniels is the complete package. His confidence was the sexiest thing ever!! And the way Garrett cared for his students and players……I can’t even. I wouldn’t mind having 80 more books with this couple. I never wanted the story to end. Callie was another top favorite for me in this one. I loved her sooo much!!! Garrett and Callie used to date back in High School but when they graduated their paths led them in different directions. Fate and life have a way of putting people together that are just meant to be. I’m a firm believer in that. These cuties were the perfect couple. I loved their ups and downs, their highs and lows. I can’t remember the last time I rooted so strongly for a couple. The High School scenes in this story were the best. I loved how Callie and Garrett were both teachers. I could just envision the school, the students, the classrooms, etc. I loved how they truly cared for their students and their jobs. Their connections with the students was very inspiring. It was so special to see it all unfold. I’ll admit, this book BRINGS the feels. So keep your Kleenex boxes close by!! This is a beautiful story and I cannot recommend it enough.

Getting Schooled has a different tone than previous Emma Chase stories. It’s much funnier in a sarcastic, zany, everyone’s hyped up on Monster energy drink, small town middle America, crazy Uncle Larry way. If I had to guess, I’d say the author let loose and just had fun with this one. So. Did. I. Now, I’m gonna admit it took me a while to warm up to Garret Daniels. He’s a bit...cocky. Kinda reminded me a little of another well-known and beloved Chase hero who also thinks very highly of himself. When I realized Garret’s over abundance of self-confidence was equaled by his big, mushy heart, he had me. Callie and Garrett are surprisingly alike. Her ego is no match for Garrett’s, but she’s as direct, self-confident, with a big heart and goals she isn’t afraid to go after. She’s just as quick to throw out a snarky insult or curse as he. It was refreshing, and I loved that about her. Together they are fun, and have an explosive chemistry. There is a large, multifaceted supporting cast that makes this the outstanding story it is. They are so unique they practically jump off the page. They are you; me; our annoying, adored siblings; our exasperating, embarrassing, lovable parents; our crazy, irritating, awesome friends; and all our fellow awkward classmates, and bat-shite crazy teachers from our school days. They will make you laugh, and they will burrow into your heart. Getting Schooled is steamy, hilarious, nostalgic, emotional, and heartwarming. 4.5 stars

High School Sweethearts having a second chance at love is totally my thing. Garrett & Callie's story of finding love again after so many years apart was just spectacular. Author Emma Chase delivers another knock out story from dual Points of View. Garrett, he is a new book boyfriend you will love to pieces. He is smart, funny, cocky and just straight up the All Around High School guy who has turned into a super hunky wonderful man. Callie, she is a young woman who turned out after going after her dreams a successful, beautiful woman in the Theater industry. I enjoyed these characters who are older, wiser and finding that friendship and love does not die even after 20 years apart. Great story line, memorable characters and soo many moments that had me swooning and laughing. Go One Click this Fun Loving Story to start off your Summer Reading List right.

You'd think that the fact that I'd pre-ordered and promptly listened to the audiobook when it was released in January would have stemmed my enthusiasm for Getting Schooled, but nope! I fell in love all over again with this second chance romance from one of my all-time favorite romantic comedy authors, Emma Chase. Reading this book also clued me in on the fact that this was just the first in a new series titled Getting Some. With a whole lot of humor and equal parts heart and heat--and a dose of drama that brought a tear to my eye--re-acquainting myself with Garrett Daniels and Callaway Carpenter's love story further secures its spot on my top reads list for this year. From the banter to the bickering, Garrett and Callie were the kind of couple that I love getting to know, becoming invested in their story, and wishing they were real people so that I could watch their second chance at love play out. Emma Chase came up with a fantastically fun-filled story of true love getting an opportunity to finally get things right. This also had one heck of a great supporting cast of characters, but there is one character in particular who claimed my heart from the moment he made his presence known--Snoopy, Garrett's seventeen-year-old albino beagle. What can I say? The dog always wins out for me, and Snoopy is one of the most memorable fictional canines I've come across in all of my years of reading. But he was just one of the reasons why Getting Schooled was as great of a read as it was. I'm giving this five-plus stars and am already excitedly awaiting the rest of this series! ♥

Coming home again sometimes isn't as easy as you would think ?? When Callie Carpenter has to go home unexpectedly after finally getting the promotion in the theater she has been waiting her whole life for things get a little funky .. Never mind the reason why she has to go home will have you laughing so hard you will be crying and hoping your parents never get caught doing that at there age BUT when she sees her old and only love of her life, Garrett Daniels something deep down in her starts making her rethink living all the way across the country from the people and things she loves and never really thought she was missing .. And what can we say about Garrett Daniels ..he is still the Sexy Hot Boy Next Door we all grow to LOVE and the feelings he had and still have for Callie never have or will die .. But the story behind the story is something that when you read will make you feel like a little part of your self dies along with there's .. and don't get me started on Snoopy the albino beagle .. He will melts your heart too !! There are so many feeling you will go through with this installment you will fall in LOVE with them ALL !!

Who ever said you can't go home again never met Garrett and Callie. Due to the unfortunate accident her parents were involved in Callie has to leave her newly appointed position with her theatre company and come home to take care of them with her sister. Coming home means running into her high school boyfriend Garrett. She takes a position in the high school as theatre teacher filling in for the teacher who is now on maternity leave. The same school Garrett teaches history and is the varsity football coach. Its as though 17 years never went by. Garrett and Callie pick up right where they left off. Their feelings are now stronger. Both never married and for good reason. They both still never got over each other. The feelings and everything that went along with that are still there. A love story that held and survived through the years as well across the miles. Their story is such a true and pure love story. High school sweethearts, young and only finding themselves in what life is offering. Now mature they find their way back to one another and realize that they belong together and nothing is going to stop them from being together not even the miles across the country. Once again Emma Chase delivers a story you cannot help but fall in love with. From her characters to Snoopy and everything in between. A must read on everyone's list

The usual sexiness you expect, but also really, really sweet.
