About the Author

Rich Bulger is the CEO of RecirQ Global, a pioneering sustainability company dedicated to developing strategies that facilitate the profitable and eco-friendly transfer of products from one user to another. His career is a testament to his commitment to sustainable business practices and innovative logistics solutions. Rich’s journey began in the U.S. Army, where he served from 1996 to 1999, laying the groundwork for his disciplined approach to leadership and strategic thinking. Following his military service, he started as a temporary employee and embarked on a remarkable seventeen-year tenure at Verizon. Rich’s innate talent and determination saw him rapidly ascend to various roles, including sales, management, and district management. His leadership skills were further recognized in his appointment to three directorial positions, covering operations, marketing, and, notably, reverse logistics. In 2009, Rich spearheaded Verizon’s inaugural store trade-in program, a groundbreaking initiative that transformed the company’s approach to product lifecycle management. Under his stewardship, the program flourished, generating $1.6 billion annually from the sale of used handsets. He was instrumental in processing 15 million handsets through a centralized returns and testing center (CRTC), showcasing his expertise in managing complex logistics operations at scale. Rich’s expertise was further honed at Cisco, where he managed global reverse logistics locations. During his tenure at Cisco, the team consistently earned the prestigious Gartner Top Supply Chain award, a recognition of their collective effective leadership and innovative strategies. Rich played a key role in fostering a collaborative and forward-thinking environment that contributed significantly to these achievements. Apart from his corporate achievements, Rich also contributed his insights and experience as a member of the advisory board for the Reverse Logistics Association. His commitment to continuous learning and professional development culminated in earning a master’s degree in Reverse Logistics Management. Rich Bulger’s career is characterized by a relentless pursuit of excellence in sustainability and logistics. His leadership at RecirQ continues to drive positive change, demonstrating that sustainable business practices can also be profitable and efficient. Rich is happily married to Naomi Bulger, and they live together with their two children, Riley and Bryce, who he proudly acknowledges as being smarter and better looking than himself.
