Not every story has to be an adventure. Not every hero has to be young, or noble, or mighty. When you dont have a Chosen One, anyones story can be important.
In these twelve stories, we meet a little old lady, several government clerks, a smelly shaman and the religious scholar who befriends him an oppressed servant, a man whose business is to help his neighbours help each other, and even someone whose only distinction is an unusual name. Every one of them finds a way to be a hero.

There's no Chosen One, no Big Baddie to fight--yet this collection of stories will send you on an emotional rollercoaster, peppered with humor, heartbreak, love, and conflict. Each story features characters who will resonate with you. My favorites were Fixer from "Fixer," Mistress Prudence from "Good Neighbours," and pretty much everyone from "Gnome Day." These stories have a fresh and interesting premise, and they're mostly set in the author's Gryphon Clerks world (see his novels). I'm very glad to have had the opportunity to read this!
