Overview

When I go into a school and see behavior that needs attention, I try to address my feelings as well as those of the students who are affected. Rather than telling someone how to live their life, I'd rather show in words what my experiences have led me to believe. We all have the right to choose the path we wish to take, it's also good to know what our options are.

About the Author

Being an educator in the Chicago Public School system for over two decades, I have mentored and motivated many. This book of poetry allows me to continue doing what I love to do on my own terms. While substitute teaching at Chicago's Kenwood Academy a couple of years ago, PE students challenged me to write a rap by the end of the class period. By the end of the period I had written "GAME" and gave birth to a new voice. After two years of working on this new craft, I have now been pushed to publish. This book reflects my response to their new challenge. When I go into a school and see behavior that needs attention, I try to address my feelings as well as those of the students who are affected. Rather than telling someone how to live their life, I'd rather show in words what my experiences have led me to believe. We all have the right to choose the path we wish to take, it's also good to know what our options are. Helping someone make a good decision brings me great joy. If I can put a smile on your face or in your heart, then I have been gifted again. Traveling is my passion that has allowed me to realize how much we have been given to enjoy. It is not limited to physical places or conditions. This traveling through life brings "Growing Pains" that continue to shape me. Being a member of the Global Information Network encourages me to enjoy each moment and learn as much as I can about how to realize my dreams in order to share that with you. As long as we believe we can do better, we will try. As long as we try to do better, we can prevail. As long as we continue to prevail, we will succeed.
