He saw her die in a vision...

Before five years ago, Gabriel had never met Vega, but he knows how she's going to die. He knows he'll be involved... unless he can make sure they never meet, never cross paths, so that his vision will never come true. So he left his pack behind, joined the Stavros pack and was determined to never let that future play out. To never meet her at all. Fate had other plans--and she walked right into his life when he least expected it. For the last five years he's avoided Vega whenever possible even while trying to keep an eye on her. But when she gets cagey with her pack and disappears, he has no choice but to follow her. Now, circumstances are forcing them to work together and he's determined to protect her against any threat. If that means dying for her, he's more than willing to. But she doesn't want his protection. If anything, she's determined to prove she's stronger than everyone thinks.

She's writing her own future...

Vega isn't the same moody teenager who came to live with the Stavros pack all those years ago. With college behind her, she's been recruited by a division of the government's supernatural Black Ops. Trained and more than ready for her first mission, she doesn't expect Gabriel to crash her assignment. To save her cover, they pretend to be a couple. But soon lines are blurred and neither can deny the incendiary attraction between them. As they race to stop a man who wants to sell out their people to the highest bidder, they find themselves fighting for a future together. With time running out, she has no choice but to rely on the irresistible male who's turned her world upside down. Unfortunately, in order to save the woman he loves, Gabriel has to give her up.

This is another amazing book by Katie Reus. Guardian of Darkness is Gabriel and Vega story. Gabriel watched Vega die, so he is intent on preventing that from ever happening. Keeping the person you love at arms legth, so you can try and save them. When that dose not work what will you do? Gabriel and Vega have such amazing chemistry. This book has been long awaited and it didnt disappoint. A must read for all fans of Katie Reus.

I was so excited for this next book in this fantastic series... This story we get Vega the daughter of Alpha Finn and his mate Lyra. We saw the feelings for Gabriel aka Guardian of the pack and Vega grow through the last few books. Now that she is a woman Gabriel is finding it hard to keep his distance. But because of something he saw in his past he must keep his distance.... Can he? Vega has become a woman on a mission. She has taken on her first job and hasn't shared this with any of her family or pack. Things take a turn however when the one she has been trying to avoid shows up. We get action in this book, suspense, betrayal and of course we get a visit from one of my favorites the Dragons. The author gives us what I am hoping is a look into the next characters book perhaps or it's my wishful thinking.. I just love this series and this by far has been my favorite.

The book was okay but was written more for teenagers. I apologize for the bad review, I don't like giving a bad review on a book but I was disappointed in this. It could have been so much 'like better but unless your 17 and airheaded the writing style is hard to take seriously. The best I can say for it is it was okay.

"Guardian of Darkness" is Gabriel and Vega's romance. There are so many great elements to their story, it is a bit hard to put into words without giving too much of their story away. It is not just a shifter story, but has many paranormal elements, great characters both old and new, and is fast paced with many twists and turns along the way. Gabriel being an alpha male fights not just the elements in the story, but must fight with himself for what he believes is the future for him and Vega. Although nothing comes easily for them, this story is a real page turner with lots of suspense, action, and romance that brings a HEA for Gabriel and Vega. This is a standalone read I couldn't put down, and one I recommend for Shifter/Paranormal readers. I would like to thank NetGalley and KR Press LLC for gifting me "Guardian of Darkness". My opinion is my own. This is mine. 4.5 Stars!

Vega and Gabriel are a great couple. The story just flows - hard to put down. Well worth the wait and extra time and space needed to make it a more compelling read. Thanks Katie!

Gabriel and Veg boy they really went through lots of stuff together and separate. It took a major event for Gabriel to get his head out of his butt. Once he did well you will have to read to see what happens.

Review: This is the seventh book in the series and just as fresh as the first book. Each of these books can be read as stand alone titles, but I highly recommend reading them in order for maximum reading enjoyment. In this story we finally get Gabriel's and Vega's story. I know I was just waiting for the day when they finally acted on their feelings. Vega is finally grown up and goes to work undercover unknown to her parents, but Gabriel knows and stays close to protect her. Of course that leads to a lot of sexual tension and a final admitting of their feelings and acting on them. Which is very satisfying to read. This story like the others includes an ensemble of interesting characters, so old and some new if you have read the series. It is full of action, drama, heart and sexiness. Truly, if you have not read the series I would highly recommend that you do. 4.5Stars I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book provided by the Author.*

Vega is determined to take control of her life. She knows that her parents love her but she wants freedom to become her own woman. After all she's a hybrid vampire-wolf shifter who has enormous powers. I liked that she became an operative in a government sponsored Black Ops group. A strong woman who can take charge in any situation makes a powerful story. I was hooked. Her chemistry with Gabriel is very sensual, but he's determined to keep his distance. He thinks that he's protecting her. I loved how caring and self sacrificing he is. When they go on a mission together, things get complicated. I loved seeing them work together. They make a formidable couple. I enjoyed Guardian of Darkness. I was happy to catch up with the Stavros pack. I've been waiting for Vega and Gabriel's story and it was worth the wait. Katie Reus has written an exciting and suspenseful story that left me wanting more. I wonder what will happen next? I received a copy of this book which I voluntarily read and reviewed. My comments are my honest opinion.

Seems like we waited a long time to finally get Vega and Gabriel ' s story. I love how the author marries all the history from the previous stories to enhance this one. Wished it were a little longer and just a bit sexier, but with new characters introduced we at least have promised if more stories ahead. Well-written, suspenseful, and exciting.

This book had me all tense and wanting to finish it. I loved the story. I could not put it down. From the start until the end, I was hooked. Gabriel had seen how she was going to die. He was on a mission to make sure that it never happened. If he was no where near where it was going to take place then he was safe. So he left his pack behind. Only to meet Vega. The one he saw die. Gabriel was still determined to make sure she lived, even by pushing her out of his life. Vega wants to live her life. She does not want to be just the pack's "princess". She has a secret that makes Gabriel come back into her life. Will they be able to work together? Or will Gabriel's vision come true? This book is one of the bests. It has stuck with me since I have read it. I have reread it twice now. I think it will be one of my favorites.

I love the darkness series. This book is no exception for me. If you love shifters then this is the series for you. Even though each book can be read alone it is better to read all in order to enjoy the returning characters and their history together.

Gabriel and Vega have been among my favorites from the beginning. Now Vega is all grown up and Gabriel is still trying to fight his attraction. He knows that she is his mate but is determined to deny himself that connection due his vision. Vega is determined to be her own person away from the pack. Going undercover with Gabriel pretending to be a couple was never part of the plan Vega and the team had discussed but that's exactly what happens. Will they be able to complete the mission and not let the pretense become real? In addition to the developing relationship of Gabriel and Vega, there is lots of suspense and a few surprises.

As a fan of the Darkness series, I've been waiting for this story for awhile. I just knew Vega was going to be a badass and her mate would be a bigger badass to keep up with her. Gabriel fits the mold to a T. Old and new characters help round out this story (maybe a spinoff series?). One of things I've come to love about Paranormal romances are the sense of family, these characters have. The "abilities" are just a side note. The sacrifices these characters are willing to make for each other without a thought just goes to show that even in fiction, there is good in the world. Love the book, love the series. ARC provided by author in exchange for an honest review.

Happy-Dance. I love Guardian-Protector heroes. Vega Marius Stavros doesn't need any man to protect her even if she's a wolf-vampire hybrid with powerful hell gate magic in her blood. Gabriel, wolf shifter, disagrees. He had a vision of her death before he knew of her existence and was determined to never meet her. He left his pack and moved to become the Guardian of the Stavros pack. When the Alpha of the pack discovers he has a teen aged daughter who comes to live with the pack, Gabriel knows to his bones she was the one he saw, his mate. Now he's determined to never mate her and to keep her from his old pack as that's where she died. The best laid plans...Vega, who strives to be independent of the protection she's grown up with, has been recruited into a secret government paranormal black ops unit. They trained her to be strong and independent, honing the paranormal gifts she was born with. When she takes off on her first mission, well trained and ready, Gabriel follows. Oh I loved their journey to passion and commitment. It was filled with intrigue, spies, paranormal creatures and my very favorite, dragons! This is 200 well packed pages that were oh so satisfying, as opposed to the ARC I read just before it that was 300+ pages of the same thing but missed the mark. Thank you Katie for this ARC for an honest review. Your stories are always top shelf!

This is book 7 of the Darkness series and I would absolutely read the previous books before reading this one. Yes, this one "could" be read as a standalone but it makes a lot more sense if you know what happened in the previous books. This one is about Vega, who is the daughter of the Alpha of the Stavros pack and Gabriel, who is the Guardian of the same pack. Gabriel had a vision while he was still with his original pack of a woman dying in his arms in location on that pack's lands. He had never met this woman but believed if he left pack lands that he could change the outcome. That he would never meet and there would be no chance for the vision to come true. But once he meets Vega and knows she is the woman from the vision, he tries to keep his distance. Until she starts hiding things and he must figure out what is going on. Vega has been recruited to a Black Ops paranormal group and is about to go on her first mission. All without telling her parents exactly what she is doing. When But Gabriel finds out and inserts himself into the mission to try to ensure her safety. And that is when things change for them. I loved this book! Gabriel is very protective alpha male who is trying to keep his distance from a woman he has seen die. His version of trying to protect her is to push her away. Vega has grown from the teen we originally saw in the previous books to a kick butt woman! She knows what she wants to do with her life and she doesn't want her parents or any of their pack to stand in the way of what she feels is right for her. I loved how things played out between them. Yes, Gabriel should have stepped forward and explained his reasons for what he was doing from the get go but when he fully understands and realizes what he could have missed? It was excellent! And then you throw in the great side characters? I loved them too! I hope they get their own books, including the sisters!!

Destiny will not be thwarted no matter your intentions… This is the seventh book in the Darkness series that can be read as a stand-alone. Years ago a vision was forced on the wolf shifter Gabriel, it showed him how the woman he was mated to would die and where, on the land belonging to his own pack. A strong protector by nature he couldn’t let that happen and believed if they never met she would be safe so he left his pack with that objective and became the Guardian of the Stavros pack. No matter how much he wants to protect the woman he would let go you can never really thwart destiny and when a young female joined the Stavros pack, the daughter of the Alpha, he knew to keep his distance, rationalizing if they never mated she would still be safe. As she grew up they were friends until she matured and the attraction he could not deny became problematic to his objective of saving her life. He remained outside of her sphere until she strangely doesn’t return to the pack with no good explanation, worrying her parents and him. She’s up to something that’s unusually secretive and the Guardian will find out what it is. Being the hybrid, half vampire and half wolf shifter, daughter of the Stavros pack alpha was a change from the life Vega Marius Stavros had known alone with her mother and also something to live up to as an adult. Always treated as the princess of the pack she longs to make her own way in life and so joins a risky profession when recruited by the government’s supernatural black ops division. She’s trained while away at college and is psyched for her first mission which occurs during the holiday season so she’ll miss the time spent with her family and she cannot tell them the reason why. She should have expected that the Guardian would track her down, he’s always been there to protect her even when he couldn’t be seen but she’s not the young girl she once was and his presence has always been a distraction with her unrequited feelings for him. Vega’s mission is critical, a former agent has turned traitor ready to auction the names of undercover agents to the highest bidder and must be stopped. Gabriel joins the operation as he will not allow her to go it alone. It will not be hard for them to pose as lovers with the heat that emanates from them when they are together. Can Gabriel keep his control and not risk the vision coming true? This book has everything to keep a paranormal romantic suspense reader turning the pages. The plot flows seamlessly from pack issues to special psychic abilities, waking hibernating dragons, an open hell gate, government supernatural black ops, and a romance destined to happen no matter what the hero did. The heroine was strong and coming into her own with a need to prove herself to no one but herself which was a sign of maturity. I loved the letters never sent that the protagonists wrote to each other as a form of personal therapy, coalescing the past and the present time lines. There are plot threads woven throughout that reference events in prior books but necessary information is provided so that this book can stand-alone, the reading is enhanced if you’ve followed the series. This was another most entertaining read, a great addition to the series. An advanced reading copy was obtained from the author. 4.5 stars

Years ago Gabriel was forced by a seer to see his future. A future where his mate died. Fast forward a few years and he meets that mate while she is a young teen. As guardian of her father’s pack he watches out for Vega and befriends her. But once she grows into a woman he knows he must separate himself from her or risk mating and then losing her forever. Vega has quite an exotic background when it comes to her supernatural abilities. Graduating from college she joins a covert group that helps to protect not only the government but supernaturals as well. Her heart was broken when Gabriel essentially walked out of her life, dismissing their friendship and keeping distance between them. Now he’s stepped into her business and has become a part of her first assignment. I loved Gabriel and Vega. Loved them when I first met them and loved them even more now that I’ve read their story. Poor Gabriel. He was struggling against his very nature in order to protect Vega and in the process unknowingly breaking her heart. I loved the way he was committed to her even when he knew he could never mate her. The storyline here was engaging and fast paced as a wolf shifter has stolen information and plans to sell it to the highest bidder, putting all supernaturals at risk. The secondary characters help to build the story, alleviate tension and lay the ground work for future books. The steam factor is a bit low but fit with the story in the only way that would work. This book was perfect in so many ways. If you enjoy paranormal, shifter books, you definitely need to check out this series or at least this book. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

4.5 stars-- GUARDIAN OF DARKNESS is the seventh full-length instalment in Katie Reus’ contemporary, adult DARKNESS paranormal, fantasy romance series. This is wolf shifter and Stavros Pack guardian Gabriel, and vampire/wolf hybrid Vega Stavros’ story line. GUARDIAN OF DARKNESS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary although I recommend reading the series in order for backstory and cohesion. Told from several third person points of view including Gabriel and Vega, using present day and ‘letters’ from the past, GUARDIAN OF DARKNESS follows the hunt for a traitor, a shifter willing to sell secrets of the paranormal to the highest bidder. Vega Stravros is the newest member of the government’s supernatural Black Ops team, a position she has trained for the past few years. When her father’s Guardian, the man that calls to her heart but a man that refuses to acknowledge their attraction, walks in on Vega’s latest assignment, our heroine must come to terms that not everything is as it seems. Enter Gabriel, her one-time bodyguard, and the man with whom Vega is still in love. What ensues is the ‘pretend’ lovers relationship between Vega and Gabriel as the couple must go undercover in an effort to ferret out the traitor hiding in a place Gabriel knows only too well. Gabriel walked away from Vega two years earlier when a seer showed our hero the future-a future wherein Vega would die in Gabriel’s arms. Gabriel intends to keep his distance believing he can change the future, a future he knows will break his heart. Vega Stavros has no idea why the man that she loved walked away without a backward glance. Intending to move forward without the man she believed was her intended mate, Vega will come to learn the truth about the past, the present and their future. There is a large ensemble cast of colorful secondary and supporting characters, most are familiar but with the re-introduction of the Black Ops Team including August McGuire, Neema and Eli, and Gabriel’s cousin Judoc McGrath and his Pack, there is the potential for many more story lines especially with the discovery of a long, lost ancient. GUARDIAN OF DARKNESS is a sexy thrill ride with sassy characters and an intriguing plot. The premise is entertaining and engaging; the characters are familiar and intense; the romance is fated and seductive.

We met Vega in the first book in the series. She used to be a rebel child but not anymore. She’s found her own path and now works for a special force that takes out rogue supernatural beings. I really liked this side of her. She came off as the strong, independent, sensible heroine she’s supposed to be. Gabriel, knowing what he knew of their future, always proceeded with caution but was never overbearing or possessive. The romance trope was kind of fated mates however it was sweet and believable with a high dose of pure passion and explosive chemistry. During their mission, Vega and Gabriel always behaved as the true partners and the professionals they were supposed to be while keeping their emotions on check. I always love it when an author keeps the plot real yet knows when it should be about the romance. There was only a little scene that made me think “Uhm, why are they doing this now?” Then again that scene gave continuation to the arc so I guess it wasn’t so bad. We also get to meet new characters and the story digs further into the paranormal world. I think we may be seeing more humans in the future since it seems supernatural and human beings are working together to keep peace all around. All in all it was a great book and I recommend it to anyone looking for a fast-paced, entertaining read. 3.5 stars rounded to 4. *** I received this book at no cost to me and I volunteered to read it; this is my honest opinion and given without any influence by the author or publisher.***

This author has given me yet another reason to track down and read each and every book of this mostly new to me paranormal series. Having loved Book 6, Saved by Darkness, I had high hopes Book 7, Guardian of Darkness, would be equally entertaining. Katie Reus did not disappoint, folks. If you are into wolf/vampire/dragon shifter romances, you’ll likely feel the same. Actually, even if you have never read this paranormal genre, there is a good chance Ms. Reus’ writing style will appeal to you, as well. Her good guy alpha protective heroes will do anything for their destined to be together, strong, sassy lady loves and vice versa. These lady shifters got game, folks. They stand side by side their soul mates as they fight to ward off evil villains. Gabriel and Vega were no exception. Proving you can’t always predict the future, Gabriel’s good intentions of trying to keep Vega safe taught him a valuable lesson. Grab the goodness of life while you can, because you never know when or if it will be ripped away from you. Destiny will continue to happen whether you try to deny it or not, and time is too precious to waste. Though starting off at a relative slow pace, life-threatening, unfolding, multi-pronged action packed scenes take over and forces join together to save the day. With a conclusion that clearly sets the stage for continuing this series in a whole new direction, we can be sure Ms. Reus has more romantic tales and drama up her sleeves. Afterall, we are given two new female dragon shifters to add to the mix, folks. I can’t wait to read what happens next. Title: Guardian of Darkness, Series: Darkness (Book 7), Author: Katie Reus, Pages: 250, stand-alone but part of a series, HEA, alpha protective wolf shifter hero, alpha psychic vamp-wolf shifter/virgin heroine, some very steamy scenes, romance safe, bloody battling evil scenes, celibate hero, no love triangle, no cheating, no OW/OM drama. Book 1 - Darkness Awakened (Finn & Lyra), Pages: 161, 11/3/13 Book 2 - Taste of Darkness (Drake & Victoria), Pages: 265, 7/24/14 Book 3 - Beyond the Darkness (Keelin & Bran), Pages: 345, 3/10/15 Book 4 - Hunted by Darkness (Nyx & Bo), Pages: 209, 2/9/16 Book 5 - Into the Darkness (Rhea & Conall), Pages: 350, 4/5/16 Book 6 - Saved by Darkness (Ian & Fiona), Pages: 304, 2/21/17 Book 7 - Guardian of Darkness (Gabriel & Vega), Pages: 250, 3/20/18 (I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book via NetGalley. I really enjoy reading this series and this may just be my favorite yet. This is an awesome PNR filled with all the things I look for in a good PNR; thrills, fun, steam and of course, romance. I love Gabriel and Vega and was rooting for them from the get-go. This is such a great story line and it seems that Katie Reus can do no wrong with where she takes this series. Can’t wait for more!!
