By fate and circumstance, five battle weary Guardian Cruisers found themselves far from home and positioned to oppose the main thrust of a Kreel invasion. Their new orders were to make a stand. While waiting for promised resupply, and the vague assurance of whatsoever limited additional Guardian Cruisers HQ might be able to send, the desperate defenders began seeking an elusive tactical edge that might permit them to survive the battle. As the five Cruisers were bracing for battle, nearly one-hundred light years distant, a single Guardian Cruiser on deep reconnaissance was executing its final two acts. Having come under attack by an elite Kreel force, outnumbered and heavily damaged, the Cruiser's single surviving crew was the ship's AI. The AI destroyed its remaining attackers and itself in one final defiant act. Moments before, the AI sent home a Cobalt Blue encrypted message detailing its pending self-destruction. Within the Cobalt Blue message was a mystery that, once solved, would reshape Guardian Force and draw it deep within the Kreel Empire on a covert intelligence mission. What could possibly go wrong?

About the Author

Determined to serve his country and contribute to its security, D. Arthur Gusner, at the young age of sixteen, “borrowed” his brother Jack’s draft card and joined the United States Army.
After three years of honorable service he then sought a formal education at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, where he earned degrees in chemistry and physics. His subsequent career as a physicist for the United States Navy, where he specialized in submarine warfare, inspired him to design and develop the world’s first successful submarine weapons systems integrated performance analysis capability.
At the end of the cold war he retired from the field of submarine warfare. He subsequently turned his attention to marine research and exploration, where he has focused on the search for and recovery of historical shipwrecks.
Author of a high adventure and military science fiction series, his extensive experience and submarine warfare background influenced his high adventure books Guardian Force, Earth Guardian, Guardian Probe, Guardian Strike, and Guardian Thunder.
D. Arthur Gusner and his yellow Labrador guide dog, Limo, currently live in Cambria on California’s Central Coast.
