Juan Dickens is a native of New York and a freelance writer of inspirational poems. He is also a retired US Army Veteran and retired federal police officer. Trained in counseling, hostage negotiation, and use of deadly force, he also served as a defensive tactical instructor for four years with a US government agency and has worked as a correctional officer and deputy sheriff for three years.
