Overview

This is a true story about "The Sister's Avenger" in New York City in 1895. Its dramatic events made headlines which astounded all New Yorkers. Women cheered the avenger in the street. It's climax is breathtaking. The "Alienist" of Jack The Ripper, the "Aesop" of the "Magical Monarch of Mo," and America's foremost female impersonator, all get into the act, as does Police Commissioner Theodore Roosevelt.
Combining historical accounts with the personal recollections of the author's great-grandmother, "Hannigan's Wake" reveals life in Manhattan like never before. Its eye-witness illustrations are cinematic and modern.
