Life is complicated and deeper than others can see from the outside. It is usually easy enough to get people to glass over the surface and accept what they see as enough. Under it all though, that is where we dive into the true story.
Hard to Love is a great example of this. We got to meet Seth and Laura in previous Cross brothers books, but you only saw the surface. You only saw the soldier in an army. Hard to Love breaks down the walls of what brought Seth to where we found him.
Willow Winters has done an amazing job with these characters. She has an ability to build these characters in such a way that will keep you wanting more and more of them. I cannot wait to read Desperate to Touch and get more of Seth and Laura. Their story is not one I would have ever expected.

HARD TO LOVE By Willow Winters
Wow, what a story! This is actually my favorite over Carter, and I didn’t ever see anyone taking his place. Willow Winters has the ability to spin a story that is so riveting and mesmerizing it is unreal. Drama, angst, intensity, passion, and darkness. I can’t wait for the next one to see what happens with Seth and Laura. This is a 5 star read, I wish I could give it more.

I am catching up on W. Winters Hard to Love series because she is will be releasing book four soon! I am addicted ya'all. Hard to Love has so much angst, my stomach felt like there was a lead ball in it. Laura and Seth's story is still a mystery. There is a lot we learn about the dark life, but so many unanswered questions. Like what is the deal with Laura's dad and her life style before? What happened to the eight years lost with our beloved characters. And the things the side characters go through are heart wrenching.
This is a love story about a couple who never stood a chance. The flame is barely alive until you reach the end. Then one flicker happens. The a couple of more. I am not sure what will happen with Laura and Seth. But I am ready for the next book and see what will happen next!

I liked this overall, but I didn’t love it as much as I thought I would. I’m giving it 2.5 out of 5 stars. This review is for an ARC, and reflects my honest opinion.
This was broken out into different sections, and included time jumps; in my opinion, the writing changed drastically during those moments. My least favorite parts were in the beginning, because 1) I was confused about what was going on, 2) I wasn’t sure how I felt about Laura and Seth’s “relationship”, and 3) there was quite a bit of repetition and long descriptions. I wanted to be immersed in the world, but sometimes I was in my own head too much when I focused on those things.
Seth was interesting. I don’t love him yet, but he definitely intrigued me. I wanted to see more of his world; we barely scratched the surface, but I’m sure there will be more to come in future books. I appreciated Laura’s character. Her ambition to become a nurse even with her not being good at school, how much she loved Seth, her friendship with Cami, etc. made me like her, but I also felt like I didn’t know her that well. I understood that only so much information could be shared in less than 200 pages, so the rest of the series will probably give readers deeper insight into the two main characters.
When I started this, I didn’t realize there were companion series that came before this. I’d be interested in seeing what I think of those men, and if they surpass Seth in my mind. This wasn’t a favorite book for me, but I’d recommend it to anyone who likes gang/mob stories, something a bit dark, and also more of an erotic romance.

I love this book the storyline is great and well written this book about a love that is so strong but when so much has happened to you in your life your love is not strong enough to keep you in the life that you thought you had

This story was hard to read. The writing was choppy, but more than that, it felt over dramatic. All the twists and turns were way too rushed, not giving the reader time to digest what was happening before moving on to the next thing, which made the whole story hard to follow. On top of all of that, the time jump in the end was poorly executed, and the fact that the first book ended without any semblance of resolution made it clear that the author cares more about selling books than she does actually telling the story. I am not a fan, and I will not be reading anything by this author ever again.

I can tell anyone that wants to listen that I will read every single book from this lady and think it's not enough. She knows what she's doing. She knows how to capture our attention as well as our heart.
Willow Winters is the best. Her books are to die for and it's Hard not To Love.
Her writing is raw and wild, intense and emotional with a touch of hotness and darkness. Just saying.
Hard To Love is her latest release and tells the stories of Seth and Laura.
I've been wanting to go to know more about Seth since the first book from the Merciless series. He's that enigmatic. This book will let us know more about him.
Seth is always surrounded by a dark cloud. Being inside the drugs and crime business will make that to any person. He doesn't think that he's capable of loving someone let alone be loved by anyone until Laura.
Laura is struggling. From a young age, she was used to fighting for what she wants and to help the ones she loves. Her grandma was her everything and after her death, her world crumbled. She thought that the love of her life was going to be there with her but sometimes...
I was so freaking mad when this book ended... Mad I tell you... Why Willow? Why? Why?
This book was perfect until it wasn't... Dayum... Why is it over? Why?
Superb plot, very well written, super engaging and intense. Darkness surrounded every page and it was nearly impossible to stop reading...
It was page after page of suspense, desire, and darkness. Jesus... I'm stunned...
I said that I was mad, but not in a bad way. This author can't write a story that I don't love. She can't.
Now I'm going to be insane waiting for the next one...
Willow... Oh, Willow... Why? Why woman? You're lucky that I love you... Just saying...

Seth and Laura story is perfect, I can say all the checklist the author said it had was exactly like that, second chance romance, with heart wrenching feelings, a delicious alpha male, mind - blowing twists and gripping, romantic suspense, yes I checked them all and added a phenomenal must read top list 2019 favorite book. It grabbed me, I was blown away, it has everything and the angst grabbed me and didn't let me go until the end. A masterpiece 5 star must read!

Reading the story of Seth and Laura when they were much younger, and seeing how they started out was both heartbreaking and a tearjerker. Seeing Seth in a different way than just as Jace Cross's right hand man brought him to life. There is so much richness in their story that tells of what made them who they were and why, that it was hard to put down my kindle. With romance, suspense, and the heartbreak of their story, it is a must read to see how they both evolved before getting involved with the Cross Brothers. It does end on a cliffhanger, and will be hard to wait for the next part of their story, but if this is the result, it will be worth the wait. **I was gifted a copy of "Hard to Love" without expectations and leave my honest opinion based on my reading. 5 Stars!**

I can't say enough about Hard to Love by Willow Winters. I love how Willow introduces us to various characters throughout her books and then tells their stories through follow up books. It was fun connecting the dots of what I knew about Seth and Laura from past books, and loved the "AH HA" moments that were revealed through this book. So many questions that were in my head of HOW Seth and Laura knew each other, and WHERE the large sum of money that Laura gave Bethany. I felt like a detective making the connections.
Hard to Love was intense. The back and forth of Seth and Laura's banter, stubbornness, strength, love and commitment towards and for each other was heart wrenching. I couldn't get enough of them and I want MORE!!!!! I am a die hard fan of alpha males that can be tamed by a strong, loving woman. That is what Seth and Laura represent in my eyes. It is their love for one another that is admirable, but also the cause for so much struggle, and pain. The battle between what one wants but also of what one needs for survival.
This is by far one of my favorite couples to date by Willow Winters. I can't get enough of Seth and Laura and am desperately waiting for Desperate to Touch to come out.

Willow Winters once again captivated me. Her ability to make words on pages capture your mind, heart and soul, always amazes me. It is so easy to love her characters as she brings them to life. Seth and Laura finally have their own story, and it was well worth the wait. We meet Seth through the Cross brothers and it was an amazing, emotional ride reading his story. Once again, I found myself yelling at the book, sitting on the edge of my seat and having difficulty breathing as the pages turned themselves. Even Superman has a weakness, kryptonite. Laura is Seth's kryptonite and he is hers as well. They are perfect together. But the ride is not smooth. In typical Willow fashion, this road has bumps, curves and potholes, believe me, you will feel each and every one of them as the characters do. This is a must read!

Seth and Laura's story was amazing! He's a ruthless, powerful man who rules with a strong iron fist, and she's a beautiful woman with sass and savvy. But Seth messed up when he pushed Laura away. Only now it's time to get her back, and he'll destroy anyone who gets in his way. The tension between them was heavy and thick, with their passion always simmering just beneath the surface. I loved this book! The tough street-smart king and his queen needed to find a way to cut through the shroud that kept them apart, and every time they got near each other, you could feel that undeniable chemistry! But the heartache and anguish, the tears just kept coming! Great suspense, great romance, with an awesome cast of characters!

Seth and Laura grew up in the life of crime but Laura doesn't enjoy it but she love Seth completely till the night she finds her world crumbling and Seth no where to be found . This is their story and what happens. I can't wait to see where this story ends up. Awesome

Heartbreaking and passionate...
If you've followed the Cross saga and loved the stories, then you'll love this one as well. This book tells the tale of how Seth and Laura met and their early relationship. There's so much history packed into this book. There's a lot of pain, but also a lot of passion. This story is not a stand-alone. It is the first part of their relationship and Seth is a standing character in the Cross saga as Jase Cross's right-hand man.
There's suspense, violence, and deep rooted love. While there are elements of the Cross storyline here, this book focuses on how Seth and Laura's relationship began. I loved seeing this other side of Seth. He's still strong and confident and the calm during the storm, but he's a very different man from the follow-orders guy we've met working alongside Jase in the series. And Laura is a strong character. She has her moments when life tries to beat her down, but there's an inner strength that refuses to surrender. The storyline fast-forwards years later and then intersects with the Cross series at a familiar point.
As with the other books in this long series, the same writing style and overall vibe continues here. There's an air of suspense that keeps you wondering what's going to happen next. And the author doesn't hold back with emotions or actions. No one is safe from pain in this series. The last portion of the book was heartbreaking and devastating and you feel each character's pain. But you can also feel the love pulsing between them. I can't wait for their next book.

This story is the beginning of how Laura and Seth came to be. Both have known Mafia life from a young age. Laura is known as the good girl; she is a good woman, a good friend, and she loves Seth with every beat of her heart. Laura yearns to know the secrets Seth keeps from her about his Mafia business. Seth's priority is to protect the only woman he has ever loved.
Phenomenal memorable page-turner read. Flashbacks give the reader insight into the character's lives. Praise-worthy characters shine in this read. I felt sincere compassion for Laura and Seth; I look forward to reading the rest of their story.

This book is fantastic! It’s a love story, a tragedy, and a suspense all wrapped up into one. Seth and Laura’s story is like no other. There are so many twists and turns in this ENTIRE series, you won’t be able to read them fast enough! I highly recommend all of Willow’s book.

I was intrigued from the beginning, & as the story unfolded I was entranced with the tension, love, violence and heart break. I loved every minute of it! After everything Laura has been through, she is stronger than she realizes & I felt for her so many times. Seth is a dichotomy - he is powerful & ruthless when he needs to be in business but adores Laura. Their relationship is beautiful...or a beautiful disaster?! You decide, because I recommend this book! Can’t wait to read the next book since that was a cliffhanger ending!

Willow Winters delivers the dramatically tragic and heartbreaking beginnings of Seth and Laura in Hard To Love. These characters were introduced in The Irresistible Attraction Series and while I had an inkling that they had a past, I had no idea how deeply connected their souls were or the tragedy they had both endured.
No one is ever safe in the world of drug trafficking; No one can be trusted. There is only so much a person can endure before they are faced with unthinkable decisions; Decisions that will define their future. Decisions that have the power to break you. Seth and Laura may be in love but is it enough?
Parts of this story were passionate, steamy, and gripping while other parts tore my heart apart with the painful, unfair, and dangerous reality of the life of a drug lord. I loved getting to know Seth and Laura and all about their lives before the Cross brothers. Getting to know how deeply they loved; how hard they fell.
There is a lot more story to be uncovered, more pain and heartbreak to endure along with more steam and passion and in true Willow fashion, she leaves us hanging on the edge just as we are getting ready for the sparks to fly. I can't help but be filled with excitement and anticipation to continue the journey with them. Their reunion is bound to be filled with fireworks and passion like no other.

Yeah, I've been waiting and hoping that we'd get more of Seth and fortunately...we did! Seth is a legitimate businessman, but not, and his story is fabulous. Love the chemistry that he has with his friends and especially with Laura...such a great look into the past. Willow Winters has once again given us a "grab you by the throat and take you down" story that leaves you wanting more...more stories and more characters...love it! Thank you Ms. Winters for sharing your amazing imagination with us! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

Another enthralling book from this world that is compulsive and compelling. You meet Seth in previous books from this world, however Seth and Laura mainly feature in Jase's book, however there is so much more to Seth and Laura's story.
The book was beautifully written with emotion. It has a fantastic storyline and great characters and is a great addition to this series of books based around this world.
This is a great read, even if you are not familiar with the books in this world.

Please prepare yourself because this book is going to make your heartache. Seth and Laura's story will quickly suck you in, pull you under and leave you breathless. If you are familiar with the Irresistible Attraction series these characters will be known to you and If not, you are still fine because this book is a perfect jumping in point. This is a book that hits the ground running and keeps a energetic pace that doesn't cease until you reach the cliffhanger at the end of the book. Your own emotions will go on a wild roller coaster ride as you learn the rich history of these two characters and the painful past they share. The gripping storyline will have your nerves stretched to the breaking point as you read this brilliant blend of intensity, drama, tension, sweetness, emotional turmoil, suspense, danger, passion and love. Hard to Love is a gripping, intense, powerful story of pain and betrayal. Seth is a criminal who runs the streets in his territory. Is he a good man? Not really, but he is good to Laura, the woman he loves passionately, his escape from the dangerous world he lives in. Seth is Laura's rock, her protector, the man who owns her heart, but when Seth's way of life brings death and destruction to her door, the price is too high and the aftermath is their shattered love.
Seth appears in several of the Cross brothers books but is not a major character. This is his backstory which covers the years prior to the Cross's. The one thing that really stands out for me is how desperately he loves and needs Laura. I know she loves him deeply but everyone has their breaking point and this poor woman is pushed to hers. I have great sympathy for her. I really care about these characters and their love for each other is just so breathtaking. For me, this book is the best so far of all the ones set in the Cross brothers world. Every sentence, every word is perfect. It's searing, emotional, and engrossing and ends in a very climactic moment. I am so needing the next book, like right now dammit!

Hard To Love by Willow Winter is the riveting, dangerously sexy, emotional story of Seth and Laura. If you have read Willow’s Irresistible Attraction Series you met Seth King as Jase Cross’s right hand man and Laura Roth as Bethany’s best friend. You do not have to read the Irresistible Attraction Series prior to reading Hard To Love.
This book is different from her other books set in the Merciless World. Hard To Love takes place mostly in the past prior to Seth joining forces with Jase and Laura meeting Bethany.
Throughout the book, there is a lot of sexiness mixed with secrets and danger lurking around every page turned. I have loved all of Willow’s books set in their Merciless World but I have to say, this is one of my favorites. She has gone deeper into the mindset of her characters than in her previous books. All the raw emotions are mixed with steamy chemistry. Reading the back story of Seth and Laura gives a new perspective on who they are and why they feel the way they do. Hard To Love does end with a cliffhanger that will be continued in Desperate To Touch. Hard To Love is a MUST READ addition to your personal library.
