Description: This is a companion text to the Harrison's textbook of the same name. Both the text and self-assessment book are based on the 20th edition. The book reflects all the specialties of internal medicine and presents hundreds of questions and answers in board-style format.
Purpose: The purpose is to assist in preparation for board or shelf exams.
Audience: This book is primarily targeted to internal medicine specialists in training, but is an excellent reference for all specialties because of the overlap of the clinician situations.
Features: The book is divided into 10 sections covering the traditional organ systems. Each section provides 100 questions representing typical questions one may find on the board examination. Each question has a clinical stem followed by multiple choice potential answers based on material found in the Harrison's textbook. After the questions, there is a section where the correct answer is discussed and the textbook chapter where the clinical information can be found.
Assessment: This is an outstanding companion book to the 20th edition of Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine textbook and a worthwhile investment for every internal medicine resident preparing for the board examination.
