About the Author

Larry Matthews is a former broadcast journalist who covered the major events of the last part of the 20th Century, including riots, anti war demonstrations, presidents and Congress. His career in broadcasting was chronicled in his memoir "I Used To Be In Radio." His award-winning investigative reporting sent him undercover to research homelessness, illegal drugs, crime and other social issues. Early in his career he worked as a small town country music disc jockey in Virginia. His experience forms part of the story in Healing Charles and its sequel, Saving Charles.
