Logan and Cass had amazing chemistry.  They met at a hotel bar.  He was the bartender and she was a customer.  They had one night together while Cass was staying there on business.  Two years later they meet again.  Only this time Cass has a baby girl that's just about the right age to make Logan think about their one night together.  Should she tell him he has a daugthter?  Does she want a bartender to be Olivia's father? The web of secrets and lies is woven so tight that you have to wonder if they'll survive it.  That old saying, "don't judge a book by it's cover" is completely appropriate for this story.  Logan is so far from being what Cass thinks he is but he can't tell her.  His job depends on secrecy.  Fantastic story line.  It flowed so well that before I knew it, the book was over and I wanted more!  I can't wait to read more from this fantastic author. Received in exchange for an honest review.

*ARC received from Entangled Publishing in return for an honest review* Her Secret His Surprise is a sexy, well-written romance about an undercover government agent (Logan) and a woman on a business trip (Cass), strangers who spend one night together resulting in baby Olivia. They are both surprised when they meet again two years later. He's undercover again and this time she is his boss. The real shock though, is when Logan gets a good look at toddler Olivia and realizes she's his daughter. Logan wants to be part of their lives but how can he convince Cass that he will be around for them when his undercover persona says the exact opposite? There's no explicit sex in this book but Logan and Cass have great chemistry that provides a lot of sexual tension. I especially loved the sweet moments with father and daughter. This book is a great way to spend a few hours.

Cass was a super strong independent woman with a precious baby girl. She is a woman I can really get behind. She made something of herself despite her family turning their backs on her. I admire that in a person and especially in a woman. Someone who perseveres, doesn't give up, and strives to do better. I loved the first meeting between Cass and Logan. They had an instant spark and it never went away. Their reunion was shocking in the beginning, but I enjoyed the way Logan fell for both Olivia and Cass. He was so sweet with Olivia, major swooning. And the ending was perfect, perfect in giving Cass what she always wanted. I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the publisher through Netgalley.

This was a great, short story that you can sit down with and before you know it, you are almost done with the book! Easy reading with a smooth flowing plot line that keeps your attention all the way through. Great characters that are well developed and independent. Cass is a young lady that has been dealt a rough life when her own father disowns her. Cass is determined to not let it get her down though and is a very independent woman. When Cass hooks up with a cute bartender for a one night stand, she never dreamed that she would end up being a single mom, but guess what!! Cass is also determined to make this single mom thing work. She went back to tell the father of her child, but he was not there and they said that they had never had anyone by that name that worked there. What was she to do when she had no idea where to find him? After all it was just a one night stand. Cass is an engineer and as you can imagine, it is hard to make it in a man's world for her. When she lands a good job with a military company, her position come with all kinds of hardships. Cass is determined to make a statement with her position in this company all while still being the single mom that she needs to be to Olivia. Cass has learned how to make it work and does it well! When Logan, the bartender from her one night stand, lands a job at the company Cass is working for, she has to decide now how she is going to tell him that Olivia is his daughter. The sparks are still there for Cass and Logan. Logan has to be undercover and is playing the part of a mooching grandson so that he can get the information that he needs for his undercover position and this ends up making Cass not want to be with him. She wants more than that for her daughter. Will these two figure out how to make things work for Olivia or will they just go their separate ways and Cass continue to be the single mom and sole provider for Olivia? You have to read this story to find out. There are lots of issues that Cass and Logan have to work through for themselves, but eventually they find a common ground. A great read that will keep you turning the pages quickly! I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion by Netgalley and Entangled Publishing! Thank you!

This review is for the closed door Bliss version of the story that was released in April 2016 rather than the original Red-hot Bliss released in 2014. This is a delectable, quick, easy read, well written second chance romance that I thoroughly enjoyed reading. It has a strong, independent female lead in Cassiopeia Stone who ran away from her home and domineering father at fifteen, only to be forced back until she finally left to follow her own dreams when she was eighteen. Now she’s a fully qualified engineer on her way up the corporate ladder. After a stupendous one-night stand left her pregnant, she did seek to contact the father, Logan Alexander, but he’s mysteriously disappeared so she maintains her independence but adds loving her gorgeous daughter in her life. When the one night stand turns up to work as her temporary administration assistant things are going to be fraught - especially as he’s staying with his grandmother who lives next door to Cass. How will he react to seeing his daughter? What’s with his mysterious past? Logan’s actually an undercover agent, trying to locate who is selling military ordinance information to foreign agents and can’t tell Cass what his real job is. She thinks he’s a loser, moving from one short term job to another. She’s also terrified how he’ll react to discovering his daughter . . . but the attraction between the two is still rampant but with so many secrets at stake, do they stand any chance of a HEA? This is a great read, one that keeps you turning pages and forgetting to look at the time! Cass has plenty of problems at work with ex-military misogynists, people not following secure procedures, making inaccurate assumptions about how she’s become head of department and, unknown to her, a spy in their midsts. Logan is fighting his need to be honest with Cass and his need to keep quiet about his true life until the security breech has been identified and closed - no wonder the tagline for it highlights the conflict of interest aspect! The story has a well paced flow that keeps your reading. Highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys a delightful second chance romance to escape into with well developed characters and a mystery to be solved. I was gifted a copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review.

I have read several "secret baby" books before but I loved this one because it was very light-hearted and fun. Enjoyable and very realistic in how the characters acted, this story made me want to read the author's other books. Great story.

One unforgettable night between strangers leads to plenty of surprises. Rebellious teen years left Cass unhappy, disowned and determined to prove to herself and her father that she can and will pave her own way. Not easy in a male charged work environment but she has faith. Logan is a chameleon of sorts. He does whatever it takes to make life easier for others. Sort of a tribute to fallen heroes. His world revolves around secrecy. I received an ARC of Her Secret, His Surprise by Paula Altenburg in exchange for an honest review. A fun intro to Ms. Altenburg's work. Comfort and escape set this couple on a course that ended up giving them the one thing they craved but were afraid to pursue. A family. This was a cute read.

As soon as I started this book, I knew I wouldn't be able to stop reading it until the end. There was some mystery and suspense, love, and two strong lead characters. Cass is an strong, independent, smart engineer. While at a work conference, she meets Logan, the hotel bartender and they spend the night together. When Cass realizes she's pregnant two months later, she can't find Logan. Fast forward two years and Logan shows up at Cass' job as her new assistant. Logan is an undercover intelligence agent and his current assignment at Cass' company has him investigating her and everyone she works with. Cass and Logan have amazing chemistry and challenge each other at every turn. Dual POV made connection to each character so easy. * I received a copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.*

If you are looking for an enjoyable, light-hearted romance – this one is it! This is a previously published book, but I just discovered it via Entangled Publishing recently. This is an Entangled Bliss story which always equates to sweet romance and this one does not disappoint. I found it refreshing as it wasn't a typical one night stand that leads to an "oops" baby with an unsuspecting baby daddy. This story revolves around Cass Stone and Logan Alexander who meet in an Ottawa bar and immediately click. One thing leads to another…which leads to a baby. Fast forward two years later when Logan meets Cass again as an undercover investigator – not only with her company, but looking into her department. His feelings for her are complicated enough, but things get more complicated once he meets their daughter, Olivia. Understandably, he can’t blow his cover, but he can’t help being pulled into their lives and wanting to know Olivia better. As they grow closer, Logan realizes that Cass may not be so forgiving to the fact that he’s lied to her from the beginning. On the one hand – he’s not the anti-commitment drifter she thinks he is, but can Cass open up to a man who’s lied to her from day one? I enjoyed that the story gave a little insight into both of their thoughts and it had drama to keep it interesting and heartfelt feelings and romance to keep your romantic heart happy as well. Received ARC from the Publisher via Net Galley for an honest review.

## Meh, just so-so for me. There were too many things I didn't like. The heroine is this super smart confident business woman who deals with government defense contracts, yet when she's nervous she stutters. Also, I didn't really care for the hero. He lied for a living and it came to him way too easily; He walked out every time the heroine wanted to talk; He was mad that he wasn't contacted when she was pregnant, however HE was the one who took off in the middle of the night with no last name and without giving her his number. And since he was once again conveniently "undercover" the hotel didn't know who he was. And I can't stand the instant forgiveness at the end. Some groveling was in order and we didn't get it. Bummer.

Cass Stone is career driven, totally committed woman with a wild, independent streak. When she wanted to assert her independence, she found that she didn't conform to her families ideals, and was cold-heartedly cast out at a young age. Cass then learned to survive on her own, making her own way in life on her own merits and I loved this strong, courageous woman that she had become. I really liked her. A one night stand changes her life forever and she became focused on her child, her whole career built around making a safe and happy environment for her little girl. After trying to track down her baby's father with little success, she is stunned to see Logan walk back into her life two years later. He is equally stunned to see this beautiful little girl with his eyes staring back at him. But Logan is undercover, trying to infiltrate the company that Cass works for to find who is selling top secret documents to the enemy. Because of this he must tread carefully with Cass and not reveal his true purpose for being there. But he can't stay away from Cass or Olivia. Logan's character was so likable. I sympathised with his predicament, the situation of finding out he has a daughter and then having to avoid talking to Cass about it until his assignment was finished. It tore at my heartstrings to see him in pain, but also endeared me to him when he found himself falling instantly in love with his little girl. Of course he was hot, but he was also thoughtful, considerate, loving and totally committed to pursuing life with his new family. The dialogue between these characters was really enjoyable, I loved the witty banter and humor they both showed and I could feel the magnetism between them. When Logan sets about his seduction of Cass, it was sensual and sweet, sexy and passionate and I really liked them together. Overall, I really enjoyed this book. The characters and storyline were easy to relate to. The growth of their characters and their relationship was heartwarming to see and both were very likable. It was a nice blend of romance and secrets with a little bit of angst that fitted in well. I will definitely be checking out this authors other titles

First time I read anything by this author and it won't be the last. I enjoyed the relationship between the two main characters and the fact that they had a past. The mystery of the workplace was kinda weak, but since the main focus was on how Logan and Cass were gonna fix their personal problems I could totally overlook that. I think the only thing missing was a nice little epilogue showing them settled in a little. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

When Cass Stone and Logan Alexander meet, it's not love at first sight. Both pretending to be someone that they're not, neither Cass nor Logan was looking for more than a fun night, with no strings, then they'd go their separate ways. Funny how things never go as planned. Fast forward two years. Cass is an independent successful woman, striving to be taken seriously in a field dominated by men. Life has not turned out exactly as she'd expected, but she is smart and secure enough in herself and her goals to roll with the changes that life has thrown her way. Finding herself a single mom, she has more than risen to the occasion, and is raising Olivia with the love that she never experienced in her own childhood. While Logan has spent the last two years dedicated to his job, he hasn't ever forgotten that night with Cass. When the two meet again, it's like the sexual tension has been simmering under the surface, and like they haven't been apart at all. Finding out that Cass (or Miss Mary, as he calls her; seriously sexy!) and he have a daughter rocks his world. Even though he is angry that she's kept Olivia from him (or so he thinks), he can't fight the attraction for Cass that's still as strong as ever. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. There is humor, intrigue (it's a spy story, after all!), passion, and so much love. The characters are well-developed and likeable, the kind of people that you absolutely want to hang out with. Paula Altenburg has written a book that drew me in and kept me reading, and I look forward to reading more from her.

What happens when you mix one high-powered female corporate executive on the fast track with major daddy issues and a bartender who is not all as he appears?  In author Paula Altenburg’s newest novel, Her Secret, His Surprise, Cass Stone and Logan Alexander have a night they intended to be care-free fun, but the night leaves them both with unexpected consequences. Her Secret, His Surprise is Paula Altenburg’s second romance novel released under Entangled Bliss. I was excited to read this novel because I enjoyed the novels of another Bliss author, Rachel Harris. This was the first book I read by Paula Altenburg, so I was interested to see what its pages would bring. After spending her formative years under the rule of her controlling father, Cassiopeia “Cass” Stone has finally figured out what she wants in her life. After getting through college on scholarships, she is flying up the ranks at Kramer Aerospace and Defence. Cass is sure her life is perfect, at least until she spends a night with Logan Alexander, the bartender at the hotel where Cass is attending a conference to represent Kramer. Once home, Cass quickly discovers she left the conference with a permanent reminder of the bartender, arriving in nine months. She tried to contact Logan, but after failing, comes to terms with the fact her daughter will not know her father. Imagine Cass’s surprise when, after her usual assistant has a family emergency, her new temporary assistant is none other than Logan Alexander. Logan Alexander was an undercover Canadian Security Intelligence Service agent working as a bartender at the conference where Cass was sent to represent her company. After their one night together, Cass returned back to Kramer. Logan went onto his next assignment. Two years later, Logan received an assignment, only to wind up as Cass’ assistant. Not only that, he was staying with his grandmother, who lived next door to Cass and her almost two year old daughter. Everything would have been fine, except he was investigating Cass and everyone in her department for espionage and the fact her daughter looks exactly like him. It leaves Logan to wonder if their night was as carefree as he had thought. Her Secret, His Surprise was a decent book, but was not great. As I was reading, my attention would shift away from the book in a few spots. It had all of the romance novel clichés with a small mystery thrown in. I did find it interesting how Paula Altenburg brought all of the clichés into one book, added a mystery element on top of it all, and managed to keep the plot moving forward at a decent pace. There probably aren’t many authors who could make it flow as well as she did. The emotions of the characters seemed genuine overall. Out of all the characters, Logan seemed the most “real” with the most relatable emotions in a given situation. Her Secret, His Surprise by Paula Altenburg is a good light read for anyone who is a fan of fluffy romance novels or anyone who wants a light summer read. While not my favorite story, I understand the appeal it has to others. Paula Altenburg is a good author, and I look forward to reading another one of her books in the future.

The idea of the secret baby and the undercover male character in this book got me curious about how the story will unfold. The story started with how Cass and Logan met in the bar and their attraction led to one night with Logan and everything changed for Cass. A baby was coming on board but she couldn't contact Logan, who seem to disappear. The staff at the bar didn't know anyone by his name. How shocking! Two years later, they met again under some shocking situation--he's her new assistant. Another surprise--he's actually the grandson of her kind neighbour! Paula Altenburg creates relateable characters. I can understand how Cass emotions through the words, about her protectiveness towards her daughter Olivia and her wariness of Logan. Although I understand Logan's need for secrecy at times, it frustrates me to read that he's keeping a barrier when it's kind of obvious how she felt about him and him with Olivia. Logan's grandmother is a darling! I was touched that she was actually keeping a lookout for Cass! Overall, this was a cute read for me! Olivia is adorable and so are Logan's reactions to seeing and interacting with her. Looking forward to reading other works by the author. I received a review copy in exchange for an honest review.

This book was so much better than I had expected. Its a well written book that had me hooked from star till end. All the characters are superbly created and the story flows effortlessly which makes it so much more fun to read. Most importantly its pace is exactly what it should have been, no slow/annoying parts. It is book that every romance lover will enjoy reading for sure. I did! :) Cass and Logan turned out to be an awesome fictitious couple. Cass, who ran away from home as a teenager and then was disowned by her father, is strong and independent woman. She does not like men who have no ambitions and live a life less than what they can easily have. Logan is pretending to be just that guy. So there was no way that Cass will take him seriously. She had learnt her lesson and tend to be wary of people lacking direction. Still she cannot deny the attraction she feels for him.... Logan is pretending to be someone he isn't but he cannot reveal who he truly is. It does make things complicating between him and Cass. He will have to wait for the right time to let her in on his secret. He just hopes that its not too late to salvage what little connection they have. After all its not just Cass but his daughter as well, who needs him.
