This is the story of Shirley Mason and her sister, Viola Dana, and brings to life their Hollywood experience, making movies and having fun. Viola and Buster Keaton were "Hollywood's Hottest Couple!" It illustrates the adventures Bernard Durning and his assistant, Wild Bill Wellman-- whom Nancy Reagan adored-- making action-packed movies starring Buck Jones and Dustin Farnum. The King of the Stuntmen, Dick Grace, and Adolphe Menjou-- whom TCM refers to as an "Arch-Conservative"-- play prominent roles in this true adventure story of love and thrills.Bernard Durning's starring roles with Lon Chaney, including the newly discovered, "WHEN BEARCAT WENT DRY" (1919) , and "THE GIFT SUPREME" (1920) are shown in new light. Alec Baldwin narrates "WILD BILL: HOLLYWOOD MAVERICK" (1995), which proves how Clint Eastwood learned from the Bernard Durning System through William Wellman.. About the Author

Bernard Durning is a writer and artist and grand-nephew of "the first John Wayne" Bernard Durning. He is the grandson of Harry M. Durning, the Collector of Customs for the Port of New York in the Franklin D.Roosevelt and Harry S. Truman administrations. He studied American history with Ferenc M. Szasz, Amertican literature with Hamlin Hill, James Joyce with Mary Jane Power, and Twentieth Century Photography with Beaumont Newhall, professors at the Universtity of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM. Originally from Highbridge, the Bronx, where he first learned about his Hollywood uncle who had "walked on the wings of airplanes for Douglas Fairbanks." His early movie favorite was Lon Chaney, Jr., so he was fascinated to learn that his uncle had made movies with Lon Chaney. He is currently trying to get their blockbuster, "When Bearcat Went Dry" restored and shown on TCM. Also to get a new musical score by the singer Twinkle Schascle Yochim.
He is also writing other books, including two for his "Times Square Roots" trilogy, (the first book published is "Hannigan's Wake") and books on the adventures of the astounding American musician Michael Gerard "Little Mike" Miera and on David "Redtruck" Yeaman, the amazing American artist, who taught the author how to paint (oil paintings). The author-artist is also painting a series of new movie posters for silent films and portraits.
