About the Author

Father John F. Harvey, O.S.F.S., was ordained to the priesthood in 1944. He holds a master's degree in experimental psychology and a doctorate in moral theology from the Catholic University of America, and served as professor of moral theology at De Sales School of Theology for thirty-eight years.
The author of "The Homosexual Person" (Ignatius, 1987), "The Truth About Homosexuality: The Cry of the Faithful" (Ignatius, 1996), and (with Gerard Bradley) "Same-Sex Attraction: A Parents' Guide" (St Augustine Press, 2003), Father Harvey has been giving counsel and guidance to persons with same-sex attraction for more than fifty years.
At the request of Terence Cardinal Cooke, Father Harvey became the first director of the Courage apostolate in 1980 and continues in this post. Meanwhile, Courage has grown from a local New York group to more than a hundred chapters throughout the world.
