I got this as a Christmas present for my cat-obsessed younger sister, and I can't wait to hear her thoughts on the book. It's a good book, very nice for a coffee table book that a guest would actually read while they're sitting waiting for you. It could also be a great discussion piece. :)

A completly comical recount of cats and their owners! The cats win in every situation. Well worth the read!

Lots of witty tidbits to be found, some content available from their website, some exclusive content, all worth it.

This book is full of outright hilarity.  It's Super-Punch-A-Dolphin funny and you should buy it. Or buy two.  You'll be twice as funny.

Hilarious! I bought this book as a Christmas present for a relative and before I wrapped it, I took a peek. Very funny! I now have to buy a copy for myself and all the other cat lovers in my life!

I was lured in by the title and thought it might be a fun book to share with my daughter. Lesson learned. Next time I will be sure to read the reviews. Interesting as the title may be to a cat lover it was not at all what I had expected. The pages are filled with cartoons and hardly any reading at all. Among the few words that fill the pages are enough expletives that keep this from being a child friendly book..... and frankly as an adult I would have been more impressed if the obscene language had been left out.

This book is funny but has crude humor that is not suitable for young kids recommended for people 15+

If you don't follow The Oatmeal, you won't get it.  And you'll find it offensive and rate it one star. Do some research before you purchase a book... Matt is hilarious, but if you don't already understand his humor, you may not find his book as entertaining.

Hi, guys. I bought this book and well... no. I mean i like it, but it swears and has very unnapropriate pictures, words and its defenetly NOT for children, so if you are under 13, DO NOT READ THIS BOOK! I do say it is funny, so I would give it 2 stars. Umm, yeah no. So stand clear of my messages for books, Hermy granger!

How To Tell If Your Cat Is Plotting To Kill You is a #1 NYT best seller by The Oatmeal. It’s a book of cartoons about cats: apart from the title chapter (which is also summarised on a pull-out poster, included), there are handy sections like “how to pet a kitty”, “Direction of the ears”, a comparison between sheltering a homeless man and a cat, Cat vs internet, High Speeds, The 3 ways to deal with cat litter, and six instalments of a cartoon called “The Bobcats” in which two cats, both named Bob, who wear neckties, “work” in an office. There’s a bit of insight into cat behaviour, but it’s a bit repetitive and not really that funny.

Ok you only get to preview a few pages & this book is horrible. It should have a rating of its contient. I'm not sure of how cats being gay & talking about sexual crap has to do with cats wanting to kill you. The book started funny then went to crap with "the Bob's". I want my $ back not worth $9.

I instantly took a liking to this because of my adoration for cats. :) A funny comic (and hilarious explanation) of your cat’s weird and sometimes peculiar behavior. BEWARE everyone. Haha.

My brother read this first and warned me of the PINK section. It was funny! I won't spoil it. But i do suggest reading it, buy it NOW! :)

Would have considered it moderately funny if there were not so many SWEAR words. I will be returning the book, as I would not share this with anyone else!

It’s complicated to review comic book like this because it really all comes down to someone’s sense of humor. There’s no coherent plot, because it’s just a set of humorous strips. Add to that the fact that Matthew Inman – aka The Oatmeal – is a web comic, then reading one of his books probably seems kind pointless, right? Why bother with the book when at least 75% of the content is available for free online? I’ve been following The Oatmeal for a decade and his comics have always made me smile. I’ve thought about acquiring one of his books for YEARS and just never got around to it. He actually just announced a new book, and so I figured, why not? Buying books like this is a great way to support the artist, and at any rate I tend to revisit comics when I’m feeling a little blue. How To Tell If Your Cat is Plotting to Kill You has some great comics, and some that weren’t to my taste. I will say that about 60% (possibly more) of this book is made up of a mini-series called the Bob Cats. I don’t like the Bob Cats. They’re two office cats who are basically major jerks. Sometimes, they do things that are catlike behavior, but for the most part, they’re just being jerks to the humans they work with. They would have been super fired in real life and I just didn’t find their sections funny. I was more bored and vaguely annoyed. My favorite panels in here are probably from the collections “How to Tell If Your Cat is Gay”. This section is so much more vibrant than the rest of the book, and there’s an actual point to the collection. A lot of How to Tell If Your Cat is Plotting to Kill You is just silliness and cat collections/panels (makes sense, given the book theme). This particular collection is a bit more educational in nature. In my opinion, Inman’s most successful comics in general are his more educational ones. Overall a fun, quick read. If you look at this as a full comic collection, I don’t think this is his strongest work, but like I said… I don’t like the Bob Cats and they made up more than half this book. So others may disagree with me. Still, it was funny, and I don’t regret owning the book.

How to Tell If Your Cat Is Plotting to Kill You by Matthew Inman, The Oatmeal is such a hilarious book that I sat and giggled the whole way through it. Anyone with cats will understand the craziness in this book. The author is a genius when it comes to putting the cat mind into cartoon form. Awesome work! I borrowed this from the library and going to check for more! Too funny!!

Bought the book for an 11 year old. Looked at it when I received it - ordered it on line - and returned it. Totally inappropriate for an 11 year old.
