About the Author

Frelisha Moneá Jefferson was born and raised in Arlington,

Texas where she has taught toddlers and 2-year-olds at Texas

Rising Star Daycare for four years. Frelisha’s love of young

people motivated her to write to share some of her expertise

gained over ten years of working with youth. From the age of

nine, Frelisha began helping her aunt run a home daycare. As

a teen, Frelisha worked with youth as a youth leader at a local

church and a stylist at Cool Cuts for Kids. Frelisha believes

that teachers at daycares and preschools are children’s first

teachers other than their parents. Preschool teachers don’t just baby sit, they teach

them all the basic needs and skills they need to know before they get to kindergarten.
