Overview

How many times must a gentleman ruin a lady before he offers for her hand....

She waited for the temptation held in his gaze. He refused to give into his desire to court her. Can a ruination of a lady lead toward a love to last a lifetime?

Every ball Dallis MacPherson attended, she saved a spot on her dance card for a certain gentleman. Many balls later and still no offer, prompts her to pursue the earl. When she encounters him on a darkened balcony, he steals a kiss and warns her away. His stolen kiss promises a passion she wants to explore. At every occasion he attends, she tempts him with her own promise. Soon the earl falls for her charms and sends her down a path of ruination with one incident after another. Can Dallis overcome the scandal of the earl's pursuit?

Roderick Beckwith watched the Scottish beauty from afar. He lost his heart the moment he set eyes upon her. Throughout the season every gentleman offered her a dance, but him. With his financial affairs on the brink of disaster, he couldn't provide her with the life she deserved. When his mother introduces his sworn enemy to his heart's desire, he must set aside his pride. However, his courtship is less than ideal. At every opportunity he brings scandal to her name. Can Rory redeem himself and prove to Dallis that he is a gentleman worth loving?

With every glance, Dallis pulls Rory in deeper. His stolen kisses forces him to make her an offer of marriage. As they prepare for their wedding, he acts as the perfect gentleman. However, the proper gentleman was not who Dallis desired. Will her scoundrel show himself before they say I do?

I Shall Love the Earl is the third book in the Tricking the Scoundrels series. This was such a sweet Christmas story. I haven’t read all the books in the series yet (but hope to soon) but I loved all the characters that appear from the previous books. They provide support to the main characters and humor to the book. Lord Rory Beckwith fell in love at first sight with Lady Dallis MacPherson. He didn’t feel like he was worthy to court her because he wasn’t financial stable. His father had died and left Rory’s family in financial trouble. All he could do was admire her from afar and wish. Dallis was intrigued by Rory but couldn’t understand why he watched her but never approached her. With some subtle help from their friends and a few indiscretions, Dallis’s grandmother insists they marry. Can Rory let go of some of his pride to keep Dallis? The book was fast paced and easy to read. The characters were perfect for each other. I loved all the witty humor and banter between the characters. I can’t wait to read Kathleen’s story and find out Lord Holdenburg’s huge secret. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

It was love at first sight for Rory, when he laid eyes on Lady Dallis MacPherson. Dallis had already noticed him and when he stepped out to rescue her from the Duke, she could only think of him as a hero. But Dallis's grandmother refused her to dance with him. When their eyes met it seemed they spoke to each other, but Rory would not be able to keep her in the style she was accustomed to because he was broke. It would take him a few years to regain what was lost. But it was a cat and mouse game. He could not stay away from her and seemed to be everywhere she was and she turned the tables and did the same to him. What would happen? An intriguing journey of instant attraction that battles to find a love that will was meant to be! Delightful! Lori D

Pride Holds Him Back 3.5*. Roderick Beckwith is enamoured of a beautiful Scottish lass but lack of funds means that he cannot honourably court her. So rather than avoid her, which is difficult as he has to escort his mother and sister to Society functions, he gazes at her intensely but never asks her to dance, causing the ton to gossip. However there is scandal to follow after he drinks too much...... and then more scandal, until at last they are forced to marry. Was distracted by the use of American words which pulled me out of both England and the time period, and also found the story overly long meaning that it did not hold my attention (my preference is to read a book in one sitting). I also felt Rory was a bit of a cad in his treatment of Dallis. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
