CHAPTER 1

There once was a girl named Momo. She was from Ichinomiya, Japan. Her mother was a beautiful woman. Her father a gentle man.

Her mother spent her days in the rice fields. Her father at his saimin stand. Then each night at bedtime they'd tell Momo tales of a beautiful land.

"The mountains are so tall." said her mother. "They reach from the sea to the sky." "The ocean is so crystal blue and sometimes you can even hear whales cry."

"I want to go there," said Momo. "Please! When can we leave?" "I don't know if we can go." said her father. "But anything is possible if you just believe."

Upset with his answer Momo climbed into bed, angry she didn't get her way. "I'm sorry Momo." said her father. "Hopefully we get there someday."

"That night a great wave crashed upon the land destroying everything in sight."

Momo awoke on her bed in the ocean. She was scared and confused but alright.

A dolphin swam up beside her and said, "Hi! I'm Sera! How do you do?" Momo explained she was scared and lost. Sera said, "OK. Let me help you!"

"My name is Momo and I woke like this. Floating in the ocean on my bed." "Ok Momo. Do you know where you came from? I can take you there." Sera said.

"I'm from Japan." said Momo. "I don't know where that is." Sera said. "But there is land not far from here. I'll take you there! You rest your head."

"I miss my parents." said Momo. Sera said, "Yes. I understand. You'll be with them soon! You must believe! Life is not always what we plan."

Momo fell fast asleep and woke to a brand new face. He was a turtle and his name was Taito. Momo watched as he swam with such grace.

Taito asked, "How do you feel, Momo?" She said, "I'm so very afraid!" "Believe in great things," said Taito. "And don't let those thoughts fade."

Taito pulled Momo's little bed and they talked from day to night. When Momo woke in the morning she saw an unusual sight!
