The nation's greatest need is not wealth but to find citizens who have the moral courage and ethical integrity, trustworthiness, uprightness, consistency, and dependability to govern society. Integrity is a devotion to honesty and is profoundly imperative in society, leadership, and governance. Integrity matters and is highly needed in African countries' public leadership and governance to achieve the desired development goals. Truth matters in everything but is rare in public leadership and governance, demonstrating integrity gaps in government. The problem is that politicians who govern a country are dishonest and lie all the time because of a lack of integrity. For instance, the beauty of integrity is that it leads to transparency, accountable leadership, and better governance, which is broadly lacking in many African countries' political leadership. A morally broken nation lacks the integrity of trust, uprightness, and ethical standing of reliability. Anything in government that lacks integrity has fingerprints of corruption and evil. Without integrity, society is exposed to the risk of corruption and abuses of power. In this case, corrupt politicians, crooks, and rogue public servants who work for the government will have the opportunity to fleece us all blind. Moreover, a morally broken nation produces morally bankrupted citizens who will not pay attention to integrity and honesty in society as a critical requirement of public leadership and better governance.
We are not technology, but it has just become us, making our lives overwhelmingly open books with or without any restraining order. Our dependence on technology has become new immoral world order, ferociously controlling our lives, intruding in everything around us, exposing our dirty laundries, testing and challenging our fragile integrity, dangerously causing costly technological mental illness for old and young children, especially teenagers. Consequently, technological mental illness and immortality threaten human privacy and impeach people's integrity. The challenge is that an ethically broken leadership lacks the integrity of trust, uprightness, and reliability to govern with positive outcomes. Integrity is fundamentally central to better governance, transparency, and accountability. African countries should have gone beyond or reached a more significant economic, political and social development milestone than if they had leaders who operate with integrity and honesty.
However, the problem is that a lack of integrity causes the government and society to submerge into corruption. The point is that a nation is vulnerable to corruption, evil, abuse of power, and fleecing if politicians, leaders, and those that work for the government lack integrity in public responsibilities. Unfortunately, many African politicians are severely corrupt and cannot govern or function without conflict of interest because they lack integrity. Integrity matters and is needed in every facet of society's livelihood, leadership, and governance. However, integrity is not measured or judged by people's wealth, education, religion, and status but by character, honesty, sound values, and principles that cannot be impeached or bought and sold in any circumstance. It must be trusted, dependable, consistent, transparent, and accountable. We are the watchdog or security guards of our integrity and morals.
