Chapter One

It's All In The Knowing

A Key Question for This Chapter

"What is the "Knowing" that converts idiocy and lunacy into noble courage as men fight "unbeatable foes" and go "where the brave dare not go?"

Depression, fear, heartbreak and pain are not strangers to most of us. Stressed related diseases account for more sicknesses and deaths than in other cause in America today. In Luke 21:26, Jesus speaks of "Men's hearts failing them for fear...." The words of the late President Franklin D. Roosevelt seem to "fall on deaf ears" today! His First Inaugural Address which was spoken in1932 was marked with these words, "So, first of all, let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself—nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance." He knew that if fear or any other debilitating weakness of character was to run unchecked among the nation, America would retreat and the loss to her would change life in America as they knew it in that day—forever!

Our nemesis, Satan, also knows with even greater clarity then the wisest man on earth the consequences of the Church giving ground and losing the battle for the Kingdom of God to the hordes of Hell. So, the gauntlet is thrown! The challenge has been given and accepted! The battle is on! The great problem is that the battleground is the arena of the human mind and spirit! Though the trophies so hard fought for are often material and in equal measure, intangible, Satan's most sought after prizes are the relationship between God and man and ultimately—the souls of man! He well knows the emotional attachment mankind has with his earthly treasures be they "... of the flesh ... of the eyes ... or of the pride of life." (1 John 2:16)

It is a fact that the Saints of the Most High God are marked for persecution, tribulation and death. The writer of the epistle to the Hebrews observes, "Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin." (Heb. 12:4) The small but key word, "yet" is of prime importance for it speaks both of things past and things still to come! The understanding here is that up to this moment you have not resisted unto blood striving against sin! But the very clear implication is the day is sure to come when you shall taste your own blood and see it spilled for the name of Christ! The moment will arrive when you will be faced with the fateful decision to deny God and live or affirm him and die!

"Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin." The prophet, Jeremiah, very thoughtfully and with great insight, wonders and asks Israel, "If thou hast run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou contend with horses?" (Jer.12:5) The question begs to be asked, "If you couldn't handle the adversities that did not threaten your life—how will you survive the temptations in which both excruciating pain and death may result?

Thus, one may wonder, "How can anyone suffer the pain, the mental anguish and the fear of resisting "unto blood" and emerge victorious? What is it that must be known to cause one to struggle against seemingly impossible odds? What is the strength whereby reasonably thinking people dream to do unachievable deeds and strive to attain virtually unattainable goals? And, is it madness to harbor in the heart a hope that ever "springs eternal?" What is the "Knowing" that converts idiocy and lunacy into noble courage as men fight "unbeatable foes" and "go where the brave dare not go!" It is to this end that this book is written.

Chapter Two

The Anatomy of a "Knowing"—The Power Of Revelation

The Key Phrase of this Chapter

"... the crowning touch to growth is development or "becoming" and "becoming" is the direct result of a "knowing" at work!"

For the benefit of this treatise "The Knowing" is synonymous with "The Revelation."

The active ingredients of the mental process: thinking, learning, and knowledge do have value in their own rights. But they become infinitely more powerful and far reaching in their effects when they are blended with the divine catalyst—"a Knowing" (a Revelation)! A Knowing is truly a "motivational understanding!" God's desire is that you learn but not just so that you may know, rather, that you may become something you have never been and to become that more fully; more perfectly than you have ever known was possible. While many people who revere knowledge hang their hats on learning and growing as the ends all of maturity, God has revealed to me that the crowning touch to growth is development or "becoming" and "becoming" is the direct result of a knowing at work!

Some astute scholar of life has observed that "often better is the enemy of best." There are those people who will be satisfied to simply improve and will defend their acts by pointing out that "At least I am not as bad as I used to be!" They have not gotten it right but they can see progress and that is good enough for them! Contessa

Similarly, many times, knowledge and logic are enemies of Knowing and revelation! Because they are satisfied with their understanding of an issue, many people don't seek a revelation (a Knowing) and are thereby left with the mediocre and the average when they could have accomplished the splendid and the magnificent that only divine "Knowing" can provide!

Knowledge only gives information—"Knowing and revelation" cause transformation and manifestation. To reiterate, information can produce knowledge but a Knowing produce s a transformation and a manifestation! Any truth that does not change you has not become a Knowing in your heart! The Knowing has a life and a power of its own! Words of The Knowing are anointed; infused with the Presence of God! Surely, as Jesus said with copious clarity, "... the words I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life!" (Joh.6:63b) The words of The Knowing do not only have spirit—they are spirit! The words of The Knowing do not only have life—they are life inducing!

For the word of God is quick.... (Heb 4:12)

1. The "Word," God, is presented in three different forms. There is the Essential "Word," God Himself Who is "... The Almighty God, The Everlasting Father and The Prince of Peace." (Isa. 9:6)

a. The Essential "Word" is (among other things) known as the "Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come." (Rev 1:8)

i. The Essential "Word" is the Creator Who spoke His Eternal and Infallible Word and said, "Let there be...." (Gen. 1:3 and 6)

ii. The Essential "Word" caused His Spoken "Word" to go out from Himself without leaving Himself (because there was absolutely no place for His Word to go but in Himself)!

iii. So, His "Word" went out from Him and into Him without leaving Him and became the epitome and the personification of His Divine Thought: earth, water, sun moon and stars etc.!

b. Then there is the Written "Word," meaning the Holy Scriptures.

i. Consider 2nd Peter 1:21, "For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." (2Pe 1:21)

ii. The Essential "Word" of God, by the agency, authority and Power of His Regenerative Word—inspired men both by writing His Word and by audibly speaking His Word to communicate His Word and His Will to His people."

c. The Regenerative "Word" of God is (in a word) "Christ!"

i. So it is that Christ Jesus is the Element in the nature of the Essential "Word" of God that is responsible for the divinely indwelt individual being able to hear the "Words" of the Regenerative "Word" of God. Note Rom. 10:17, "... faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." (

ii. The Regenerative "Word" of God is the aspect of the Essential "Word" that is the quality of His Omniscience, Omnipotence and His Omnipresence that creates the sinner anew by indwelling the sinner and empowering by living righteously and godly through the surrendered life.

iii. The Regenerative "Word" lives a Holy Lifestyle in the surrendered life.

iv. The Regenerative "Word" also lives as a god on earth through the life of the surrendered soul.

d. Then there is the Spoken "Word," the Word that God uttered.

i. Whenever God speaks—He changes something! Nothing that the Spoken "Word" of God says leaves the world just as it was before God spoke!

ii. For when He speaks

1. Laws are decreed!

2. The natural has been touched by the Supernatural!

3. Something is built up, torn down or protected from any change!

4. Deliverance is bestowed or devastation is wrought!

5. Peace is imparted or war is declared!

6. Life is given or life is forfeited!

7. But something is inexorably changed (to use a legal term) "with prejudice!"

iii. The worlds were not made from things that were visible or tangible but by the Infallible "Word" of God.

iv. Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. (Heb. 11:3)

e. The Spoken "Word" is that Authority that spangled the night with stars and set the sun blazing in the heavens.

That SpokenWord is quick! (See Heb. 4:12) The word "quick" is from the Greek word, "zao" that means "alive" and "live" and "quick." (Strong's #G2198) So, the word of God is not only life that causes things to come into existence and causes existing things to live, it also causes those things that are dead to come back to life! Thus, the Living Word effects what never was; what is and what used to be! Knowing this truth (having a revelation concerning this truth) places the most real and profound hope of resurrection in the deepest echelons of the believer's being!

Remember, Dear Student, Jesus said, "... the truth ..." (John 8:32) (The Knowing; the revelation) "... shall make you free!" But only the truth (The Knowing; the revelation) that you know! The power of Truth is frustrated and rendered null and void in the heart of the soul that is ignorant of truth! How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? (Rom 10:14) If they don't know the truth they shall remain in bondage!

"... shall make you free!" By Divine ordination,Truth should not merely be—it should live; it should make you; it should effect change and it should influence! In other words, The Knowing will cause you to "become" because The Knowing is possessive! It has a life of its own and if left uninterrupted and to its own agenda—it will work the works of the Lord in our lives!

(Isa 55:9) For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

A "Knowing" is a Divine Thought and a Way that is so Heavenly and so much higher than man's thoughts and man's ways of doing things that God has to uniquely and singularly reveal the Thought and the Way to the mind that God has prepared to receive it. To perhaps make the "Knowing" more easily understood, a "Knowing" is a "Revelatory Word of God;"

* a "Word of God" that has its origin in the Heart of God

* a "Word of God" that reveals the essence of both the intent and the spirit of God's perfect Will

* a "Word of God" that He prepares man to receive; a "Word of God" that He expresses to man;

* a "Word of God" that He clarifies to man; a "Word of God" that is received by man and

* a "Word of God" that should be (by man) given free rein in the heart of man.

As long as Truth lives in obscurity and ambiguity and as long as Divine Reality is hidden in confusion and perplexity—THERE IS NO KNOWING! THERE IS NO REVELATION! THERE IS NO KNOWN TRUTH! And until the Light of Veracity is revealed and the facts have been freed from behind the veneer of enigma, secrecy and mystery—THERE IS NO KNOWING!

Chapter Three

The Cost of Knowing—the Cost of the Walk

The Key Phrase of this Chapter

"And the price paid is usually equal to the value of the knowledge gained!"

It has been said that the best knowledge is "bought" knowledge! In other words, there is always a price that is paid for knowledge! And the price paid is usually equal to the value of the knowledge gained! Information, however, is usually more cheaply received than knowledge. Quite often, information is freely given while knowledge is often obtained either from one "going through hard trials" with God or enduring the harsh realities of life in this earth realm. Suffice it to say that "Knowing" may be acquired at a premium cost!

Heb. 10:32 But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions;

Pointing church members to their life before their redemption, the Lord admonishes them to remember when "... after ye were illuminated ...," God "called you out of darkness into his marvelous light...." (1 Pet.2:9 KJV) He wanted them to remember how they bore great hardship and endured intolerable things while they suffered unmentionable loss. It was then that they learned that although salvation is free you will pay a great price to get to Heaven! It will cost everything; your identity; your own aspirations; your finances and all of your treasures! All must be either given up for God or given over to God if one would walk with the King!"

33 Partly, whilst ye were made a gazingstock both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, whilst ye became companions of them that were so used.

Now hear God speaking through the writer's heart saying, "You knew some of your misery and distress while you were being gawked at because you were suffering the reproaches and afflictions of vile men who "speak evil of dignities." (See Jude 1:8b) You also became a spectacle by being verbally and physically attacked and you had to live under constraints that were far beneath what you believed was reasonable. Other of your turmoil was lived as you joined yourself to the plight and the suffering of your spiritual yokefellows." Throughout scripture it can be seen that you are in very good company who are so minded to do the same. Note Moses' example, "By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward. By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible. Through faith he kept the passover, and the sprinkling of blood, lest he that destroyed the firstborn should touch them." (Heb 11:24-28)

Now, please consider Heb. 10:34 "For ye had compassion of me in my bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in yourselves that ye have in heaven a better and an enduring substance."

The learned apostle to the Jews, is asserting here, "You cared, sympathized and knew a godly pride in me for the stand I took in times of horrific personal sacrifice for the Gospel. Bolstered and supported by my example, you cheerfully and with much bliss accepted the ruination of your treasures. You were fortified by the assurances and the certainties of a glorious eternity with our Savior and His Saints. You were more than willing to make the trade of temporal treasures on earth for the prizes of wealth and riches in Heaven where no depreciation or erosion can affect their worth. For the immeasurable joy and the exquisite delight of finally basking in His Eternal Presence, you gleefully and with many praises took the "wrong for the right!" And while suffering indignities that were the measure of man's inhumanity to man—you walked purposefully and boldly into the fires of adversity.
