"William Drexler the Third thrust his hand gently back into the darkness There was something else. It felt like leather.
He gripped it, cautious of its age and pulled it into the light.
A book.
With a long finger he began to lift the cover but the unbound pages began to slide out. He carried it over to the bed, set the lantern down beside him. Gingerly, he placed the book on his lap and with great care turned the cover back. Jagged bits of the original pages clung to the binding. Someone had torn out the pages of Jane Eyre and replaced them with their own work.
With her own work, William’s thoughts corrected.
