Overview

Twelve year old Kelin Reid is visiting his Grandmother on a Missouri farm. His parents and siblings in California plan to join him in three weeks but before they can depart a deadly pandemic strikes. The world's population is decimated. Only tiny pockets of civilization remain and some of those are not so civil. Kelin and his friend Josh survive in quarantine on the farm but now they must cross 2000 miles of devastated America in search of his family.

About the Author

The author grew up on a small Iowa farm and has worked in fields as diverse as farm labor to banking, and aviation to network consulting. Presently he lives in Reno, Nevada, where he plays golf, poker and writes.

Editorial Reviews

This was a great post-apocalypse book about two boys, Kelin and Josh, after a worldwide epidemic wipes out most of the world's population. The author did a superior job in capturing the voices and actions of the two boys. "Kelin's Journey" is detail oriented, plausible, frightening because of its plausibility, encouraging but also heartbreaking. Evans did a good job at keeping this story exciting but not so descriptive that a younger reader can't read it. I will be keeping it for my library.
