Knockout:Interviews with Doctors who are Curing Cancer--And how to Prevent Getting It in the First Place, by Suzanne Somers, is a must-read. The book begins with a foreword by Dr. Julian Whitaker who challenges the very paradigm of curing cancer--that is, of removing or destroying it--with surgery, radiation or chemotherapy, Instead, she writes, the challenge to curing cancer lies in stopping the cells from dividing; do that and the cancer disappears. Somers relates her harrowing story of her gross misdiagnosis that occurred in November 2008. She woke up covered in hives and was rushed to the hospital. She was told that she had cancer throughout her body. The hellishness of the experience prompted this book, because Somers explains that if she--a health advocate, best-selling author and famous person could get so mistreated, it can certainly happen to anyone. Shockingly, the medical community has made little strides in curing cancer in 60 years, and it will soon be the second leading cause of death in our country. The purpose of this book is to educate us on the alternatives to the traditional treatment of cancer--surgery, radiation and chemotherapy, and to prevent cancer from happening in the first place. As a cancer survivor, this is a topic close to Somers' heart. There are chapters on the sad state of Western medicine, and how most of us poison ourselves daily--with drugs, chemicals in our food and more. The crux of the book are the interviews with alternative doctors. They are divided into two sections--doctors curing cancer and on preventing it in the first place. Some examples from the interviews: * One doctor interviewed said that mamograms increase the risk of breast cancer. * Sugar and artificial sweeteners feed cancer and help it spread. * Tumeric is one of the most powerful cancer inhibitors. (One note on tumeric--several years ago, I read that there is a significantly low incidence of Alzheimer's Disease in India. Studies proved it was due to the high consumption of tumeric. Lately, I read that tumeric is great in preventing inflammation, increases memory, and a whole bunch of other fantastic qualities. You can buy it in capsule form if you don't eat much of it.) The final chapter is advice for those who do choose traditional treatment to combat cancer. The resources include integrative health practitioners listed by state. I appreciate that Somers interviews a variety of doctors to get all kinds of advice. For those suffering from cancer and for those hoping to prevent it, this book provides solid alternative choices to traditional therapies that don't seem to be working. This book provides hope. Highly recommend. By the author of HARMONIOUS ENVIRONMENT

What one who is diagnosed with cancer doesn't realize is that decisions do not need to be made overnight! It is not a death sentence unless you do not research and become your own advocate. Doctors are humans and make mistakes, some are just lousey, some are not thorough, some certainly are good and mean well, most do not have knowledge in holistic medicine, since the pharmaceutical companies financially support their medical schools, and their are those who, we are fortunate to know, who have devoted their time to finding answers and spending the time that is necessary to curing them (yes, CURING them). My advise is to research like Suzanne did!

This was a gift from my sister. It has made me even MORE aware of the food and nutrients I put into my body. The first chapter grabs you and, like a mystery novel, you keep reading. I have given this book as a gift and recommended it to several others.

People need to understand the medical profession is NOT looking for a cure for cancer. They are searching for a cure they can patent! Big Pharma owns the medical profession and they have let us down. Thank God for Suzanne Somers.

I am working on being a two time cancer survivor. Two very different types. My first experience I was paralyzed by fear and did not do the research I should have done. My second run in was 15 years later. Older and wiser, I read and studied, this book is a very good reference when looking at all the options coming your way. No one has all the answers ,but being the healthiest you can be during your fight can only help

Like her other books, this book is put together in an organized manner packed with terrific information for all who are concerned about educating themselves. The up to date information the doctors talk about with her is staggering. Pick it up - you'll be glad you did.

A must for anyone who wishes to educate themselves on new treatments for breast cancer. Ms. Somers gives us a thorough understanding through her interviews with Doctors and by way of sharing her own treatment options. As a nurse and a breast cancer survivor, I highly recommend anything by Suzanne Somers. I will be taking on bio-identical hormone replacement therapy myself soon as well as Iscador treatments. Women must always remember to do the research yourselves and make your own decisions about your care, just be educated in all options when you do.

I am a registered dietitian. I admire Suzanne Somers, she is always an advocate for the public. In sexy years, she shed the light on bio-identical hormones to the public. In Knockout, she takes on the cancer buisness. The book is well written and informative. The best way to prevent cancer is to eat healthy, balance hormones, and avoid toxins. An excellent book that I recommend to my patients is the Perfect 10 Diet. Knock out is an eye opening book, but the best way to prevent cancer is to start doing things right first.

This book was AMAZING! Must read if someone you love has cancer! 18 months ago we got the news my healthy, never sick, very active husband had aggressive Stage 4 cancer, I didn't know where to begin to understand what we were facing. All the Drs. just wanted to start him on a very aggressive chemo treatment, then wait and hope for the best! Are you kidding me??? That wasn't good enough and certainly didn't give us any choices! And there was no discussion to do anything to build up the body with good healthy cells at the same time as chemo! That was not their specialty! Knockout was the beginning of our own fight for my husband being healthy again! Yes, he did the chemo, but we went the extra mile on our own as Suzanne suggested to consult with a integrative Dr at the same time. Immediately we found an excellent Dr in her book to help us! We followed all the steps to Knockout Cancer by following a very aggressive approach with a daily regimen of supplements, NO SUGAR, nutrient IVs and peptide injections. My husbands story is next to a miracle according to all the Drs. and everyone that knows him! Suzanne and her book Knockout deserves so much of the credit to our success story! This book provided knowledge and resources that I would never have found. She makes it easy to understand that we have choices! Knockout helped ME cope and was a big part of my husband getting back to a healthy life! He is playing golf 3 - 4 days a week and doing great! And still following the advice to stay healthy everyday! Knockout was a blessing!

There is powerful information from scientists and doctors working in the daily fight against cancer. Easy to understand causes and explanations of how the body works. Dedicated healers expose the current standard of care for cancer as the barbaric money generating system that it is. Common sense, non-lethal treatments do exist and work. It points out the fact that the nutrition we put in our bodies is responsible for the outcome of our health. We would not put chemicals in our gas tank not meant for our expensive car, but we will put chemicals and non-foods in our bodies and expect it to continue running at high performance. That is insanity. People need to know that they have the final say in their health. Following some medical standard of care treatment without researching it and blindly following the advice of a doctor that would not use the same treatments on his family is insane. It is about money...huge amounts of money in the prescribed cancer treatments. I appreciate the research that Suzanne has done and the huge risks she takes in putting her reputation on the line. I have studied numerous research papers on cancer research and find she presents some very well documented cases.

I went for my annual mammogram in February and after a week went by, I got a letter from the Radiologist saying I should contact my Doctor so that he could order a second Mammogram for me for the right breast only. I called the Doctor's office to let the Nurse know that I had received the letter and would wait for the Doctor's order and notification when I should return for the second Mammogram. After a month went by I got notification from my Doctor that I was scheduled for a second Mammogram. The second Mammogram showed three small nodes that needed to be 'checked out'. My Doctor's office called me and said they had made me an appointment with a Surgical Group for an independent exam and check. The Doctor did a physical exam as well as ordering another Mammogram and an Ultra Sound. After the Ultra Sound, I was told they needed to perform a needle Biopsy in those three areas so that the Pathologist could evaluate the tissue. That's where my problem began to get cloudy. At first the Pathologist said two of the nodes were definitely benign but the third was possibly malignant. He however, sent the same to a second Pathologist for another evaluation. The second Pathologist came back and said that the nodes were all benign but since there was conflict between the two Pathological Reports he recommended that a surgical biopsy be scheduled. I talked with the Surgeon and was told that a frozen section would be given to the Pathologist immediately after surgery so that a definite diagnosis could be made. The Pathologist could not make a diagnosis using the frozen tissue so while I was on the operating table my Surgeon surgically removed all three nodes so the samples could be sent off for diagnosed. It was during this timeframe that I read KNOCKOUT. The Pathologist finally returned his diagnosis and said two nodes were definitely benign. He said that the third node was DCIS, and Non-Invasive. The Surgeon made me an appointment with an Onocologist and Radiologist at the Cancer Center. I had already decided, after reading KNOCKOUT that I would not submit to Chemo, but decided to err on the side of caution to take a 'few' sessions of Radiation. My 'few' sessions was determined to be six weeks long with an added 4 days for a 'Boost???' When I talked to the Onocologist, I was told that my Cancer was 'LOW RISK' and Non-Invasive and that I did not need to take Chemo but would need to go on Hormone Theraphy. I have never been in so much pain....I am seriously beginning to pursue an Alternative Treatment. Knockout was so revealing...

A great learning book about the current Traditional Medicine that everybody should read. Once read, I believe most intelligent people would support the efforts being made in the Alternative Medicine field. I have heard a lot of people say you shouldn't believe everything you read. That may be true in a lot of cases, but not this book. The subject it too important. Unfortunately this book if probably read after someone has been diagnosed with Cancer, but there is a lot of Cancer Prevention information in this book that should be read before a serious diagnosis is made. Suzanne did a great job with this book.

To all the people that want the truth. Medical doctors plainly do not care for their patients like in the past. It is all about numbers and how many patients they can move.It is greed among most of the physicans. There are physicans that do want to help the patients and I have found those doctors. It took some time to find them, but I did.I want a doctor that understands and cares what is really going on with the patients health.

Do you want to be Cured? Then learn from it. Knowledge is the understanding of truth. Facts are there is a world that does not want people to know what is in this book and others that can heal. Understanding the truth will help with that. In cancer I believe many come to learn there are foundational principles to truth. Sad but sometimes it takes the focus that reading and praying will help one find. Anything can be overcome. Recommend "The Gerson Therapy: The Amazing Nutritional Program for Cancer and Other Illnesses".

Suzanne Somers has an uncanny ability to seek out fine medical minds to help people understand their own health, often against traditioanal practices. Her books have helped many of my patients understand the role of diet and hormone replacement to recovering their joy of life. As the author of the Malia and Teacup self-esteem building adventure books for children, isn't better mental and physical health our wish for children everywhere?
