Richard Gimblett, Ph. D., est l’historien de la Marine canadienne et un ancien président de la Société canadienne pour la recherche nautique. Ancien officier de marine, il a contribué au premier volume de l’histoire officielle de la Marine royale du Canada (1867-1939); il a aussi dirigé la rédaction et rédigé un chapitre de Le Service naval du Canada, 1910-2010 : Cent ans d’histoire, que le présent ouvrage complète. Il vit à Ottawa.
Michael Hadley, Ph. D., est professeur émérite d’allemand et membre du comité de rédaction de la Société canadienne pour la recherche nautique; il a servi de nombreuses années comme officier dans la Réserve navale. Il a notamment écrit U-Boats against Canada, Tin-Pots and Pirate Ships (avec Roger Sarty) et Count Not the Dead: The Popular Image of the German Submarine. Il a contribué à A Nation’s Navy: In Quest of Canadian Naval Identity, qu’il a aussi dirigé. Il vit à Victoria (C.-B.).
