Two girls go missing. Only one will return.
The couple that offers the highest amount will see their daughter again. The losing couple will not. Make no mistake. One child will die.

When nine-year-old best friends Charlie and Amy disappear, two families are plunged into a living nightmare. A text message confirms the unthinkable; that the girls are the victims of a terrifying kidnapping.

And when a second text message pits the two families against each other for the life of their children, the clock starts ticking for D.I. Kim Stone and the squad.

Seemingly outwitted at every turn, as they uncover a trail of bodies, Stone realises that these ruthless killers might be the most deadly she has ever faced. And that their chances of bringing the girls home alive, are getting smaller by the hour…

Untangling a dark web of secrets from the families’ past might hold the key to solving this case. But can Kim stay alive long enough to do so? Or will someone’s child pay the ultimate price?

The latest utterly addictive thriller from the No.1 bestseller Angela Marsons.

Kudos to Angela Marsons for yet another great read! I am trying to catch up on the DI Kim Stone series. I thought I had read this one last year, but I found it on my to read shelf. I am never disappointed when I read a book in this series. I love the way layers are slowly peeling away from DI Kim Stone's past and personality. She presents such a tough exterior but in this book I felt like we see more of a soft interior. This book was even better than the first two in the series. I'm really looking forward to the next installment. These stories just keep getting better and better. If you like thrillers you will love this book. Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and Angela Marsons for a copy of this book in return for an honest review.

I requested this one because the two kids kidnapped and only one returns plot reminded me of one of my favorite Criminal Minds episodes. Boy, I wasn’t dissapointed in the least! The writing was excellent, the plot was brilliant and put me on the edge of my seat, and raised my heart beat to at least 150 for most of the book. The characters are amazing, the plot is fast-paced, the twists are surprising and all in all, this is an AMAZING book. If you love thrillers, I suggest you go read this one RIGHT now. I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

This does what it sets out to do .. it's a graphic thriller that charges along at quite a steady pace, although there were sections that seemed to drag a little & made it perhaps unnecessarily long. I read this as a 'second' book alongside others so that I could dip into some hard crime, mystery with an edgy feel (when required) & this satisfied that. As a mother it's a difficult story to read, my heart went out to the parents, how do you begin to comprehend a child being abducted! Kim Stone is a tough nut detective but she shows a gentler side in this especially nearer the end. It's a race against time to unearth the clues for two missing 9 year olds ... as the story unfolds you get pulled in so many directions trying to work out what the next step may be. This is the third book & I went into it blind not knowing anything about the previous ones .. I didn't feel as if I was missing anything by not reading those first. It's very well written & each member of the 'team' & public are described intensely to a point I felt as though I knew them. The thing that has lowered the star rating for me was the reference to kitten cruelty .. I know it is 'just a story' but it was unsettling & did make me dubious whether there would be other sections that might make uncomfortable reading, this is just my personal view & overall it's a cracking book. Thanks to the author, publisher & Netgalley for the opportunity to read it in exchange for my honest opinion.

I have read all books by this author, but had to stop several chapters in on this one. Child abduction is a disturbing subject anyway, without the need of graphic content that is in this book. Reader beware. Contains graphic hay sex,bad language, blood and gore. Was not needed to tell the story.

This is the third novel in the Detective Kim Stone series by this author but you don't need to have read the earlier two to be able to be enthralled by this superbly crafted, traumatic thriller. Indeed, you may well find (like me) that you'd really like to read the earlier ones - 'Silent Scream' and 'Evil Games' - after being so intrigued and moved by this one. When two nine year old friends are kidnapped, one of the parents requests that Kim is the Detective leading the investigation. It turns out that that parent and Kim were in foster care together as teenagers..... As the case unfolds, the kidnappers try to start a bidding war, promising to release unharmed the child whose parents pay the most. The parents had been close friends, too, but the stress of the events, the trauma, anxiety and uncertainty of the outcome all strain their relationships with their partners, the other couple and the police. There seem so many side issues, a similar earlier case doesn't have all the evidence or paperwork it should, new 'experts' are brought in to support the team whilst a blackout on information for everyone not directly involved is imposed. In the case thirteen months ago, only one girl was released. Does Kim stand any chance of successfully rescuing the girls? You'll just have to read it yourself to find out! This is a riveting story, told from multiple points of view. The characters are all complex, the painstaking slog to uncover evidence is a relentless race to save the girls before the kidnappers harm them. All the characters are superbly portrayed, the methodology, interactions and thought processes explored in an enthralling crime thriller, packed with mystery, suspense and drama. This is one of those brilliant stories where the reader really doesn't want to put the story down until they've found out just what happens and, even in the ending, there are surprises. Anyone who is a parent will find this particularly traumatic but it is still one I have no hesitation in highly recommending to anyone who enjoys well written crime thrillers with great human interest. Thanks to the Author, publisher and NetGalley, too, for letting me read an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I just finished Angela Marson’s Lost Girls. It is a D.I. Kim Stone Novel. Two nine year old girls have been abducted from Old Hill Leisure Centre (British spelling). Karen Timmins (one of the mums) has asked for Kim. After getting the details, Kim insists on being the Officer in Charge of the case. Kim will stop at nothing to get back Amy and Charlie (the little girls). The kidnappers are pitting the parents against each other by making them bid (like an auction). The highest bidder will get their child returned to them. The team works to identify the kidnappers and find out where they are keeping the girls. They have their work cut out for them if they are going to rescue these girls in time. Lost Girls is a riveting novel. It will hold your attention from the first page to the last. It is a great, well-written story. Angela Marson’s novels just keep getting better. I give Lost Girls 5 out of 5 stars. The only negative thing I have to say about Lost Girls is I wish the mystery had been a little more difficult. I was able to figure out who the mastermind was behind the kidnapping early in the book. However, that did not take away from my enjoyment of this novel (and I wanted to see if I was right). Please be aware that there is extreme violence in this book. I received a complimentary copy of Lost Girls from NetGalley (and the publisher) in exchange for an honest review.
