Jada McLean is about to get married in nine days, when she walks in on her fiancé in a little more than a compromising position. Days later, she's on a trip that she intends to be relaxing and a prelude to her fresh start, when she runs into the rude, obnoxious, but gorgeous Jonathan Kole.

I received an ARC, from the author, in return for an honest review. I like a good romance story.  I like a good suspense story.  Therefore I love a good romantic suspense. Jada McLean has it all.  She had her own business.  A fantastic fiancé.  She was getting married in little over one week. Then she came home early, and her life was to be irrevocably changed forever.  In that moment, she lost not only her fiancé, but her best friend. After that Jada decided her best option was to leave the city for a while to lick her wounds out of the spotlight.  This is when she meets the arrogant D.A. Jonathon Kole.  Soon Jada's life is spinning out of control.  She is under the D.A.'s radar for more than one reason.  Their attraction is instant, even if Jada denies it.   On the whole, I enjoyed this story.  It had a good mixture of suspense and steamy romance.  However, I found the story to be overly detailed, in ways that were not relevant to the storyline, so I skimmed those particular sections.  That said, I found I was kept guessing about who the culprit was.  There were so many different things going on, I was riveted right up to the end.  For me a good suspense should never let the reader know the answers too early.  In my opinion Rebecca Rohman hit the spot with that.  She also hit many spots with her steamy scenes!  Man, they were hot!!  All in all, I did enjoy the book.  The characters were well written and the plot was good.   Sometimes I wanted to punch certain characters and sometimes I wanted to comfort them.  The ending however, well that just ripped my heart out!  The emotion was just poured off the page and seeped into my soul.  I found myself sobbing at how things turned out.

I am going to admit because of my overwhelming list of books to review, I almost passed up on this book. Almost. I am so glad I didn’t, or I would have missed out on a great read. Ms. Rohman wrote a very compelling story. From the very beginning, she grabbed my attention by evoking feelings of sympathy towards the heroine and the addition of suspense and mystery to the story kept me at the edge of my seat. Jada McLean is a self-made business owner. She is very independent and has her life all figured out; until she finds out her engagement was a sham. And to make matters worse, she will have legal troubles and she will gain a stalker that will put her life in danger. Jonathan Kole, also successful is now the D. A. for San Francisco. He has everything he ever wanted including this dream job he just landed. But after meeting Jada, he will have to make major decisions that will turn his well-planned life upside down. Love, Lies and the DA had me holding my breath at the twists and turns of the story line. From the beginning to end, Jada’s situations kept me a constant shock. Bad things kept happening to her, and as screwed up as it is, Jada actually handled the heartaches and misfortunes quite well. I give it to her; she stayed strong during the ordeals. And honestly, I’m glad she got rid of the fiancee and in return to meet a very handsome, very rich and powerful man, Jonathan. Jonathan as the D. A. and his family relations and business was put in a very compromising position. But his “white in shining armor” personality will of course make the right decisions. I was head over heels for this guy. He put up a few sigh-inducing choices that made me fall for him. He is quite a romantic!!! But what I love most is the nerve racking suspense and mystery that had me at the edge of my seat. Someone was always stalking and lingering. Though I suspected a few of the characters, I didn’t get it right. Several scenes also had my stomach in knots and I found my jaw constantly dropping to the floor. If you like romance with strong elements of mystery and suspense, I recommend this book. I was very impressed with this new to me author, and I cannot wait to read more of her work. Received an arc in exchange for an honest review. A full length romantic thriller that was as rich as the colour on the cover.  I really enjoyed Rebecca's writing. You get drawn in straight away, no waiting around for the action to kick off..... a whole heap of characters to get involved with. The main , Jada & Johnathan are both strong and start off on a bad footing... As Johnathan is a little arrogant. But, they keep running into each other, and he charms his way through  the flirting begins. I love the slow building relationship, as he is a D.A and she is under investigation , she is reluctant to get involved and Rebecca doesn't rush it, but it is Hot when it needs to be! Believe me!  The drama is twisting and turning and I had no idea who, what or why! I lam not going to say anymore as I don't want any beans to spill :-) but seriously. Damn!  I shed a few tears through the book, and towards the end......... Will be adding Rebecca to my Authors list.

Wow!!! Great romance, murder thriller. Very well written story. There were many twisted plots in the romance, murder thriller. You will laugh and cry. Unexpected ending. 400 pages of reading pleasure. Wish I could give it 10 stars. Will have to read moreof this author's books.

I received this as an ARC from the author for an honest review.  I enjoyed this book a lot. I've never really been into suspense stories much, but I loved this one.  I liked that it was written well and I was able to connect with the characters. Jada was one of my favorite characters because she held her own and didn't let anything get to her. She had so many things happen to her that  it would have been so easy to just let it all affect the way she was living. This book had me hooked from the beginning and kept me that way  until the last page. With so many twists and turns in the story line it kept me guessing until the end. To me this was also a  different kind of romance story and to me that is refreshing to read something different and not what you see in everything else out there.

This book was given to Book Worms as a gift from the Author for an honest review.  We gave this book 4 stars. This book Review was left by Carissa a Book Worms Reviewer.  Thank you Carissa.  I received this book from the author in exchange for my honest review. Love, Lies &the D.A. Stars: 4 Love, Lies, & the D.A. is a book that will constantly keep you on your toes. This book through things out that I was pretty sure the main character couldn't handle after all she had been through in the past but yet again Jada pulls through. Jada is a stubborn, independent, and intelligent woman. I really liked this character from the beginning and I was amazed at how she handled situations. Jonathon Kole was another story altogether, I wasn't sure about him until the beginning of the book but I fell in love with him nonetheless when he showed how caring, protective, and intelligent he really was. The more Jada and Jonathan were put together the more I wanted to see more from them.  This book had so many twists and turns and I was on the edge of my seat, though I will say this book took me longer than it should to read, I found it hard to feel the connection between Jonathan and Jada beyond a simplistic point. I wish there would have been more chemistry and passion between the two. I felt like I came up lacking when it came to both of them having "moments" between each other. Ultimately this was a great book and it certainly caught me by surprise many times. I like the way the two main characters took time to fall in love and how I got to see their hearts and souls rather than seeing more descriptions of their body parts. The last 250 pages or so had me hooked and I did not want to put the book down. I think this is one of the first books that I have read that balanced out mystery, suspense and romance in such a great and professional way.  I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for some mystery, suspense, and downright drama in their romance.

ARC received by the author in exchange for an honest review As you know, I am not a writer myself, but I wholeheartedly believe that one of the most difficult genres to write must be romantic suspense. You have to do a whole lot of research, keep your reader interested in solving the mystery and, at the same time, make sure that the reader also feels invested in the romance between the main characters. I am very happy to say that this book must be one of the best I have ever read in this genre. Meet Jada McLean: a smart businesswoman, resilient, strong, yet with plenty of soft spots as well. After walking in on the worst situation imaginable - catching her fiancée, Richard, having sex with her best friend, Koto - she deals with her grief the only way she knows how, which is by leaving her business in very capable hands and licking her wounds at a beautiful location - Lake Tahoe - and doing this alone. She runs into Jonathan Kole one of her first days there, and let me just say that their encounter is less than friendly - but it still made me smile a bit. Soon after, Jada learns about the fact that her very ex-fiancée is very much dead, and, naturally, it comes as a big shock: who would kill Richard? And to make matters worse, she then becomes the prime murder subject! Thus follows a story ripe with suspicions, harassment, violence, and kidnapping. But let me not forget to add romance as well... I am being very vague about the storyline here, I know, and it is quite on purpose. You cannot really expect me to give away too much, because 1) it defies the purpose of a review, and 2) I would hate to accidentally give you any clues about the plot, hence ruining it for you. One of the things I love about this story is the fact that it is set over a rather long timespan, and Miss Rohman really makes you get to know both Jada and Jonathan. I enjoyed how the story was told from both of their point of views, and what I particularly love is that we are shown the different range of emotions that Jada goes through: grief, anger, betrayal, vulnerability, depression, insecurity - both in terms of her being a murder suspect, of course, but also when dealing with her feelings towards Jonathan. I found her to be a most appealing and believable character - especially when I learned about her photography: she is not a complete workaholic - and it was easy to connect with her. I would also like to stress that the fact that Jada holds herself back from exploring her feelings towards Jonathan is more than acceptable: remember, she has just suffered from experiencing the worst possible betrayal, only to find herself being framed for murder, so it is only natural that she does not believe in her instincts anymore. And Jonathan? From the very beginning, he sees something in Jada that he wants to explore further and he is rather protective of her early on. He can have quite a volatile temper - believe me, I wanted to throttle him more than once - but at the same time he is caring, sweet and, in many aspects, just as vulnerable as Jada. He falls hard for Jada, but her being unsure about herself in turn makes him feel insecure. Being the D. A. does present a whole set of problems for Jonathan and Jada ever becoming a couple, and I must say that I found their situation to be very realistic - and yes, even Jada's mistrust in Jonathan in the beginning is more than founded. Had these characters simply thrown caution to the wind immediately upon meeting, I would not have believed in them, and I would not rate the book as high as I have. At no point in time did I have the faintest idea about who the murderer was, or even why Richard was killed, and I must say that I applaud the author for having thought of every single detail, however small it may seem, and keeping me invested in the story from beginning to end. Miss Rohman gives the reader one small tidbit of information at a time, but the story never seems unnecessarily drawn out - every detail counts in order to make the pieces fit into the puzzle. At least that is how I feel. I want to conclude my review by saying, again, that this really is one of the best books I have ever read. Both Jada and Jonathan are likeable, honest, real people, and I love the fact that we get to experience the sweet, loving moments between them despite the severity of Jada's situation; the pacing of the story is perfect to me, and I love this author’s writing style. There is also a whole set of secondary characters which all play a part in the story without switching the focus away from Jada and what she is facing. And yes, to the readers who want to know: the sex scenes are very steamy and they will make you tingle in all the right places *wink*. I was feeling all kinds of emotions while reading this book, and my adrenaline really picked up quite a bit in the last 25-30% or so – Miss Rohmann had me extremely worried once or twice, which I liked, and I will most definitely be reading more of her work now.

Jada McLean is an amazingly strong & resilient woman, who has complete control of her life… that is until she is faced with the ULTIMATE! betrayal. Nothing shatters a woman’s dreams quite like finding her husband to be in flagrante delicto mere days before the wedding. And just to add insult to injury the only other person she truly trusts is the one he’s sticking it to…. Now I'm not usually a fan of being slapped in the face - so to speak - in the first chapter of a book. Mostly because I feel like it’s wasted on a reader that isn’t in deep enough to appreciate it. But, Rebecca Rohman sure knows how to do it right! my stomach plummeted and my heart broke for a character I had yet to fall in love with - which by the way didn't take long. Needing a break from the never-ending drama that is now her life, Jada moves to Lake Tahoe with the hopes of making a fresh start. Here she meets rude, obnoxious and Hot as all get out district attorney Jonathan Kole. Whoa! do sparks fly between Jada and Jonathan from the very beginning – though not always the good kind - The love hate relationship between these two characters is jaw dropping, hand over mouth, laugh out loud hilarious. With a back stabbing best friend, philandering dead ex fiancé and insufferable, hot-headed, sex-on-legs man meat all in the first chapter. I'm surprised I didn’t implode. After a series of events that seem to stem from her ex-fiancé’s less then stellar decision making skills, Jada finds herself on the wrong side of the law. And the one person she had hoped would restore her faith in love, trust & Happily Ever After just so happens to be the man who could be responsible for putting her behind bars. I was so very impressed with the calibre of character within this magnificent tale. Filled to the brim with strong and moral personalities tending loving and loyal relationships – crazy bed buddies and lying, cheating best friends & fiancé's aside of course. Jonathan finds himself forced to fight his growing feeling for Jada, to uphold his ingrained ethics and responsibility as San Francisco’s district attorney. Talk about a conflict of interest… His ostensible participation in the legal proceedings creates a fissure in their budding relationship that seems almost impossible to overcome. Meanwhile Jada is force to deal with a plethora of hidden secrets and accusing eyes around every corner. All while trying to keep from falling head over heels with the man that holds her fate in his hands. Oh..My! God… this storyline has more twists and turns than a rollercoaster ride. Rebecca Rohman has effortlessly brought to life these beautifully complex characters within a story that takes the reader on a living breathing journey - Kleenex is a must. Love, Lies and the DA was an absolute pleasure to read, with a unique blend of romance and suspense. Ms Rohman is an amazingly talented author, and I for one cannot wait for my next fix. Unputdownable Must Read!!!

Love, Lies and the D.A. is the latest release from author Rebecca Rohman and the first of her work I have read.  Well, Rebecca has a new fan in this blogger.  This book was wonderful. Young, beautiful, smart, savvy and über successful businesswoman Jada McLean has worked hard at building her popular up-and-coming hotel chain and is now just a week away from the next meaningful chapter in her life….her wedding.  It’s in preparation for that day that she heads home early one afternoon and finds her fiancée and her best friend in a very compromising position.  A very naked, bent over her desk, hot and sweaty compromising position.  Immediately Jada calls off the wedding and cuts her now EX-fiancée and EX-best friend out of her life.  Trying to seek some solace and time alone, Jada heads to Lake Tahoe and almost immediately upon arriving meets an arrogant man who irritates her every time they run into one another.  Unfortunately that seems to be an awful lot.  Just when she can’t imagine things getting much worse, she gets the horrible news that her ex-fiancée has been murdered.  Now, instead of mending a broken heart, Jada finds herself a suspect in his murder investigation.  Jada also finds herself getting closer and feeling a bit warmer to the irritating man, who just happens to be the D.A. Jonathan Kole has just been appointed to the position of D.A. and he couldn’t be happier.  He’s smart, handsome and things seem to be going well…unless you count how many times he’s put his foot in his mouth with the beautiful new face around town in Lake Tahoe.  It seems he can’t manage to stop being a jerk around him and he needs to change that.  He gets his chance when she becomes his father’s law firm’s client and he starts seeing more and more of her.  Jonathan also realizes that she is completely off-limits and could be career suicide considering her suspected role in a murder but he can’t help it.  She needs a shoulder to lean on and dammit; he wants to be the one.  Is she worth risking it all? What starts out as a relationship of annoyance between them slowly builds into more when Jada and Jonathan find themselves in the middle of some intense situations.  Murder, kidnapping, theft, and deceit, just to name a few.  But can something good and true come from such an impure origin?  Only time will tell. This story started out with a one-two punch in chapter one and just got better from that point on.  Jada has ben dealt quite a crappy hand and needs to pick up the pieces.  That proves to be easier said than done and the hits just keep coming for her.  Luckily, even though Jada and Jonathan’s relationship started out a bit strained, they find out pretty quickly that the attraction they feel is something that shouldn’t be pushed aside.  In the meantime, the investigation into Jada’s ex-fiancée’s murder leads to some incredible findings that involve many more players in a plot that I never expected.  I can’t give anything away but I will tell you this:  You will be on the edge of your seat until the very end. Oh, and the epilogue?  Simply perfect.  I had a big grin when I read it and let out a happy sigh. If you enjoy romantic suspense with every emotion packed into the pages, this is definitely a book for you!  Thank you, Rebecca, for an amazing story!

I was excited alongside the characters right from the beginning. I thoroughly enjoyed the multiple perspectives shown throughout this novel. The story flips back and forth without the character headings that tend to break the story’s forward flow, yet at the same time everything is quite clear and enticing. The main character was so easy to identify with emotionally that it made the story very approachable. This is one of those books that you can picture living through. It’s emotionally raw and vividly real. I felt like I was watching a drama unfold rather than simply reading a novel.  The female lead in this novel is so interesting. I love that she’s self-made rather than from old money. It shines through everything that she does. It’s really nice to see a character who cares about more than just herself or her relationship. Not only that, but she is also so real. I appreciate how strong she is, yet still able to depend on others and ask them for help. It’s the best of both worlds. Because of the shifting perspectives and the fact that the story is written in the 1st person, present tense you really get a feel for who she is and how she appears to others. This story is so personal. The monologues from each character give you an in-depth look, understanding, and feel for who they are. I really love the random thoughts that flit through; it makes everyone seem so real. Even though these individuals are about as dissimilar from me as they come I could still feel for and identify with them.  The fact that Rohman writes this story in the 1st person, present solidifies the urgency present throughout the story. This story had my heart tied in knots and my mind racing a million miles an hour. Rohman has taken the romantic suspense genre and given it a bit of a twist to produce something eloquent and unforgettable. This isn’t a quick, flippant romance novel. It’s about real life and unimaginable, yet real, situations and was intensely thought provoking. Rohman’s well written, flowing descriptions illuminate the entire story. Even her romantic and erotic scenes are written in a very unique manner. They aren’t just fluff or page filler.  This novel was a rollercoaster that took me through a gamut of emotions. It had me on edge, made me laugh, brought tears to my eyes, and made me want to live a little. I didn’t read it all in 1 sitting, there just aren’t enough hours in a day, but I definitely couldn’t stop thinking about it and was dying to get back to it. It was a trip that I’d definitely recommend, and read again. Please note that I received this novel free of charge from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Looking for a romantic suspense that will take your emotions on a rollercoaster? This book is for you. I liked Jade. She was a young entrepreneur, polite, caring, compassionate and cheeky around Jonathan. The heroine's initial “tough cookie” attitude seemed to be the first and last display from her for the rest of the story. Every scary incident made her sway, shake or nauseous, and I felt that she didn’t really take all the threats against her seriously enough. As for her interaction with the hero, I understood her motivations for not rushing into things with a man who intrigued her but who she barely knew. She was smart about those choices and it was a realistic expectation. What I loved the most about her character was her no-nonsense approach to communication. She spoke what was on her mind, whether it was something trivial or when she was opening up to Jonathan. Jonathan did not make a good first impression, nor a second, nor a third. He was an arrogant jerk up until the point he learned of her legal troubles and when his father got involved. From then on he underwent a character arc that kept climbing steadily until even I fell in love with him. I loved his growth from entitled playboy to a loving, caring, protective and patient man. Story Flow/Pacing/Plot - This story was told in the first person from both the hero and heroine’s POV which once in a while bordered on the hero repeating what I'd already read. Even though I couldn’t put the book down, there were passages that got quite wordy: their daily routines were always the same pattern. Interspersed with those were the suspense portions which, in my option, were just too many (twelve separate incidents in all). Also, none of those incidents were orchestrated by the true villain of this story. I enjoyed the plot of this story because it married quite a few different obstacles: falling for the person whose job it might become to tear you apart in a court of law, and the idea of being so horribly betrayed by someone you were supposed to love and marry. Not just the cheating, but getting caught in a web of illegal activity not of your own doing. That is what drew me to this story. For well over half of the book, the intimacy was contained to make-out sessions and a lot of sexual tension. That was realistically in line with the development of their characters. The few scenes that came much later felt like a huge exhale. I loved seeing this couple get to that place where they were ready to take the next step. The Bottom Line - Yes, I had some problems with this book, but my review is based on what I read – an uncorrected proof. Despite my consternation with certain sections, the emotional journey of this couple kind of made up for it. It wasn’t badly written by any means. What the author did extremely well was evoke a gamut of emotions. That was most evident during the climax of the story which broke my heart a little. I can’t even claim that the ending was predictable or that I knew what the outcome was going to be. If you’re looking for a story filled with danger and anxiety and a lovely love story weaved throughout, you should definitely give this book a try. I would read more from this author. With proper editing in place, I would have given this a 4-4.5. As it stands, my rating of this ARC is 3 stars. Disclaimer: I received an ARC from the author for the purpose of an honest review.
