About the Author

M.D. (Marcellus Davidson Smith, IV) was born in December 1940 in Birmingham a year before Pearl Harbor and remembers some of the "blackouts" of WWII at nearly age five. He learned fishing and hunting and gun safety from his father.

He has always been a bit of an outdoorsman and doing a lot of camping, hiking and every hobby you can imagine with his SEVEN sons as they grew up. His single daughter was wife Judy's primary charge, and Allison learned all the girl things from Judy, and tom-boy stuff from her older and younger brothers.

M.D. is a Graduate of the University of Alabama and majored in Broadcasting. He married Judy Chandler in 1961.

In 1962, he obtained his Amateur Radio License, WA4DXP, and has been on the air with 'ham' radio off and on ever since.

After graduating in 1963 from the University of Alabama with a two-month-old son, went into the family broadcasting AM Broadcasting business. He worked as Operations Manager, then General Manager for the next 36 years. He sold the TV station in 1999. M.D. III, as his father was called, and M.D. IV learned flying in 1965 and took many trips over the next 20 years, most in several models of a Piper Twin Aztec.

The author takes some of these experiences and combines them into the plot of the story. He has been writing short stories for thirty years, with over fifty of them published in several different magazines.
