Lovers and Players by Jackie Collins

Dangerous sex, family secrets, irresistible power, mega money and two murders equal one reckless week in New York. Lovers and Players takes you on a high-powered trip from Park Avenue to Brooklyn.

Jackie Collins is back—in her most deliciously scandalous novel yet. And she's giving her readers a revealing look into the private realms of her fabulously rich and sexy cast of characters.

In Lovers and Players, the Diamond family's power extends from coast to coast. Max—a real estate tycoon; Chris—a Hollywood lawyer; and Jett—a young, handsome ex-druggie, now a successful model in Italy, must finally come face to face with their tyrannical father, Red, who has been controlling their world for as long as they can remember.

Working as Red's housekeeper is Diahann, a beautiful black ex-singer. Her stunning bi-racial nineteen-year-old daughter, Liberty—a waitress who is a would-be singer herself—does not approve of her mother working as a housekeeper. Liberty has dreams of her own and while she pursues them, Damon P. Donnell, married hip-hop mogul supreme, pursues her.

Amy Scott-Simon, a beguilingly pretty young New York heiress, in engaged to marry Max Diamond. At her bachelorette party she runs into Jett, Max's younger brother. Jet has no idea who Amy is. She also doesn't realize who he is. A one-night fling leads to major complications.

As the lives of these characters intertwine, power, money, fame and love are the ties that bind—emotionally and otherwise—in this highly charged love story about family relationships and deadly choices.

About the Author

JACKIE COLLINS is one of the world's top-selling writers, with more than four hundred million copies of her books sold in more than forty countries. Her twenty-three bestselling novels have never been out of print. She lives in Beverly Hills, California.

There have been many imitators, but only Jackie Collins (1937-2015) can tell you what really goes on in the fastest lane of all. From Beverly Hills bedrooms to a raunchy prowl along the streets of Hollywood; from glittering rock parties and concerts to stretch limos and the mansions of power brokers—Jackie Collins chronicles the real truth from the inside looking out. Jackie Collins has been called a “raunchy moralist” by the late director Louis Malle and “Hollywood’s own Marcel Proust” by Vanity Fair magazine. With over 400 million copies of her books sold in more than forty countries, and with some twenty-seven New York Times bestsellers to her credit, Jackie Collins is one of the world’s top-selling novelists. She is known for giving her readers an unrivalled insider’s knowledge of Hollywood and the glamorous lives and loves of the rich, famous, and infamous. “I write about real people in disguise,” she says. “If anything, my characters are toned down -- the truth is much more bizarre.” Ms. Collins books include Poor Little Bitch Girl, A Santangelo Story and Drop Dead Beautiful. Jackie Collins was awarded an OBE by Queen Elizabeth II in 2013. She lived in Los Angeles, CA.

I enjoyed this book, which kept me intrigued all the way through... until the end. The end was a bit of a disappointment, as there was over 500 pages of details, only to end the book abruptly in about 2 pages. A bit predictable, but a good read nonetheless.

All I have to say is Jackie Collins is a great writer & she knows how to keep a reader focused & wanting more. My personal reading time is limited, but when I do have the chance, I love to get losted in one of her books. Even if it is only for a half an hour. Sure makes it hard to stop! Looking forward to anything new that comes along!

Great story..interesting characters..hooked me from the beginning! The typos are ridiculous though. Die instead of the....really? I am reading it on a nook so I do not know if it is an editing issue or a nook issue but it is damn annoying.

I didn't understand each and every one of this characters. The only that caught my attention didn't had a big role on the story. Didn't like the relationship results and I think that no one would like them. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME.

I haven't read a Jackie Collins book in awhile and this one did not disappoint. Some of the characters could have used a bit more fleshing out, but . . . I still enjoyed the read.
