Overview

Mary is your typical student, your typical homebody. She doesn’t know what to do with her life and doesn’t expect much out of the days to follow until things suddenly change for her. A serial killer is on the loose and kidnaps her off the streets with the intent of ending her life. But then his plans change. Instead, he keeps her like a pet, chained up in his apartment.

Abuse follows as well as the manipulative games he plays. He toys with her, slowly diminishing the hope she has at being found and at being saved, while his own feelings of what seem to be love begin to blossom for her. All while he battles his own urges—it’s them or us.

Kole, Mary’s brother, searches for her with the help of Steven and Carl, two detectives frantically running into dead ends with what little clues this killer leaves behind.

Can Mary survive, even as Stockholm syndrome begins to take hold?

If Kole finds her, will she ever be the same?

Enjoy this psychological thriller set in the 1980s, said to be gripping and emotional that will leave you turning pages until the very end.

Why is this not a best seller?

The way this author writes situations through this book is like watching a movie in your head. Its enthralling and just detailed enough to leave to the imagination. I grew quickly attached to the characters, even the killer, and was on the edge of my seat hoping that they would find Mary throughout this entire book. Like everyone says, the ending was a twist, and left me shell shocked. I would love to see more from this new author, and I hope she puts more out in the future for me to read, I am surely a big fan.

Beautifully written and breath taking scenes. This book was amazing. I would recommend this to anyone who loves the horror genre. It kept me on the edge of my seat. The twists and plot turns destroyed me, and made me want to finish the book. The author wove a story so compelling it was hard to put down. Get your copy and get in on this. This is a book you will definitely not be able to put down and won't be able to stop talking about it.

This book was a very interesting read and very, very hard to put down once I started it! I was up till 3am reading it before I knew it! Haha. The killer creeped me out and I felt so bad for Mary, but I was NOT expecting the ending at all. I sat in my chair and had to process everything for a good hour before I could move on. I love this book and I would suggest it to anyone that loves thrillers and murder mysteries. I want to see a sequel!

This new authors unique writing style kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the whole book. A rollercoaster of emotions followed the main characters through their trials and tribulations, never taking them in predictable directions. Personally, I have not been much for murder/mystery books, instead having read mostly sci-fi and fantasy, but the story-telling, and scene-building that Ms. Lindemann portrays in this book really grabbed me and held me in until the very last page. All in all, a very enjoyable read, and I can't wait to read what she will publish next.

This book is an awesome summer read! I highly recommend it to anyone in love with thrillers. It has seduction, death and just keeps you on a roller coaster from beginning to end. Anyone know if she has any other books out? I've looked but cant seem to find anything yet.

I could not put this book down. I am not one for murder mysteries, but for some reason this caught my eye. As I read I started feeling for the main character Mary. This book takes many turns, and is a page turner for sure. I also look forward to reading what this author puts out in the future.

This book was given to me as a gift but I plan on purchasing at least two more copies and passing along this great thriller. Like all the reviews say, the ending will leave your jaw on the floor. I was floored by the story. Amazing book over all, I just wish there was a sequel.

I found this book recently and to say I was enthralled while reading it is an understatement. I felt a deep connection to the character, Michael, and though that may seem odd to some, he was truly captivating. I loved how this author captures his psychosis and made him a believable killer, instead of far fetched like a lot of novels and movies seem to make them out to be. He was honestly a scary character, on a deeper level than most, because he seemed so staked in reality. The Stockholm syndrome that Mary suffers from in this book is also very accurate, and scarily true to what one would go through without giving away spoilers to this story. It was an interesting read from start to finish, and I was impressed by the ending. Not many times have I been left feeling lost but eager to know more when finishing a story, and this one delivers.

I'm awaiting this book on order from my local store, but I have the ebook. I'm hoping that this author has a book signing sometime nearby as I live in Hawaii. This has become my new favorite. Does she has anything else out? As I would love to purchase more of her work.

Amazing book, though I wish it had been longer. It's not a bad thing it was short, I was just that invested and wanted to know more. It really creeped me out, and the characters themselves were beyond intriguing. I'm truly excited for the second in the series of this book, as I'm hoping it'll go into further detail about them and the world they live in.
