Malchus
The assignment was simple. Accompany the Roman soldiers and the traitor to the secret location of the false prophet, then bring him back to Caiaphas for trial and excecution. None of the soldiers in the company saw the disciple's hand inch into his tunic until the sword blazed toward his head. Excruciating pain assulted every sense as blood flowed from the gaping hole where his ear had been severed. Then something incredible, even more unexpected happened. The man to be arrested said, "Put away your sword. He who lives by the sword shall die by the sword," and then the fake reached out and touched the mangled flesh that was once his ear. While soldiers stood frozen Malchus felt dream-like power envelope his body, the pain ceased, the blood stopped gushing and he was left in peace, completely healed. The high Priest commanded Malchus never to reveal what happened, that it would mean death to him and his family. But Malchus' life will never be the same. And his story will be told.
