Preface
Everyone in the world believes, loves and hopes for something. in my case, since I was 7 years old I didn't know any language beside the Mandaic language. That was ray dream to write and read different languages. When I came to the United States in 1968, I settled here and started my life to make my dream come true. I wrote my first book the Drosa D ihih. My second and third book was also Drosa D ihih. Then I wrote the Ginzarba, Sidra, D Nismata, Aspar Maluasa, Galalta Hu Hran Gauaita, Alpatrasar Siala, with 6 parts, Diuan Mhita, u asuta, Diuan Asuta U Mhita, Sarh ahba D Mania, Biuma D Paruanaih, Sarh D Qabin D Sislam Rba, (Srh D Trasa D Taga D Sislam Rba) Diuan Abbur- Apras D Pagra-Diuan Masbuta, D Hiblziua, Qlista U Pasuk Qlista-Sidra D Masbuta D Mandaia- Eniania, Diuan Masiqta D Sitil Br Adam, U Babhata, Diuan Alma D Risaia, and the last book Diuan Malkuta. Alaita. These are the 22 books I wrote by hand; Along with the books I started the Mandaean Calendar. The first 13 years I was making a yearly calendar, after that and until now I have been making a to 2 year calendar. Thanks Mr. Michael kapelpw Helping me computerize the calendar all this years.
I have spent the last 20 years collecting new Mandiac words. I add it to my growing list. to 1990 I took a trip to Iran, where I had meeting with Mr. Salem Chohily He is a teacher in Mandiac language and President of the Mandiac Organization of Ahwas, Iran. I thank him for his advice and helpe we to write my Mandaic-English, Mandiac-Arabic, and Mandiac-Farsi two sided-Dictionary. Twenty years of hard work and many nights in front of the computer, collecting and building this dictionary. Collecting new words for the Mandiac Language to expand the Mandean dictionary. The languages are in a constant process of change. Thus, the arrangement and presentations of the translation is also based on our Generation. Another notable feature is the hundreds of new words, systematically caller by me. It is not easy to find the Mandaean words and comparison.
The Mandaean Alphabet consists of 24 letters because start with A and end by A which are written from right to left. In the area where the Mandaic languages was "ohm, known as West Aramaic I the Jerusalem (1) Region during the Mandaean killing period and immigration to the Mesopotamian, Babylon am changed the Mandaic languages, to the West Aramaic, thus divided the Aramaic languages in Fast Aramic and West Aramic. In the past time the classic Mandaean Handbook Dictionary from Lady E. Drower and professor Dr. R. Much 1972 survived the Mandaean languages for the scientists. The Dictionary was special far the Linguistic Scientists. Thus I have put the effort to join the normal public and Linguistic people. The arrangement and treatment of the entry works am still unequaled at the present time, because in due neighborhood there are many terms that exist. Recently I saw a thousand new words. New words for the everyday language. Professional Language known and serve by professor Dr. R. Much. Lady E.D.S Drower. Lidzbraski Theodor Noldecke Jorunn J. buckly and thus home save they Worthily deserve appreciation for letting Mandaean languages still alive.
My hope was to, build the Mandiac language for the Mandaean people and anyone that is interested in learning a new language. I hope my efforts will be successful. Only time will tell. and a the end I like to thanks all the friend who helped me in this Dictionary. Dakhil A. Shooshtary
