MATT--THE CALLAHAN BROTHERS (Brazos Bend, #2) by Emily March

They are the Bad Boys of Brazos Bend—Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John Callahan.

New York Times, USA Today, and Publishers Weekly bestselling author Emily March invites readers to travel from Eternity Springs to Brazos Bend, the small Hill Country hometown of the Callahan brothers.

Strong, independent Torie Bradshaw doesn’t like playing the damsel in distress, but when a stalker’s sadistic threats finally frighten her into running, she knows of only one hero to call on for help: Matt Callahan. The sinfully sexy spy had saved her once before. Surely he’ll play her champion again. If only they hadn’t parted under such…unfortunate circumstances.

Matt has barely recovered from the last time he tangled with Torie. When she invades his private sanctuary bringing danger, drama, and a designer dog with her, he wants nothing more than to send the beauty packing. He’s busy battling old ghosts and more recent wounds. But Matt can’t deny his protective instincts or the fact that this troublesome woman has gotten under his skin. So when a killer comes to call, Matt faces a startling reality—he’s about to  lose all the things he never thought he wanted.

Continuing the story of the Calahan brothers in James Bond style. It's nice to find the beginning to Gabe ' story from the Eternity Springs sagas.

I loved the first story in this series, and this audiobook was just as good. Ms March engages you from the moment you start the story. Both Torie Bradshaw, and Matt Callahan are strong, likable characters and the plot will keep you on the edge of your seat . Matt Callahan is a CIA agent and Torie Bradshaw , is a paparazzi , daughter of the general that Matt respects, and in big trouble. Someone wants her dead . The relationship of these two is tumultuous and the plot will keep you guessing . I specially loved all the references of James Bond. Aside from the main plot , we continue to get glimpses of the relationship or lack there of, between the Callahan brothers and their father. Giving us a better understanding of the dynamics of said relationship. So, get ready for a rollercoaster ride in this action filled romance. I was gifted this audiobook . The opinions expressed are solely my own.

March writes with descriptions that bring this picturesque world to life.  Her cenote was just as believable for me as the winery.  This lifelike story took me on a great many journeys with many twists along the way.  Suspense vies with chemistry at the forefront of this story.  I found myself trying to unravel the mystery of ‘who did it’ while at the same time trying to puzzle out how in the world the main characters would work out their differences.   Matt is stuck so far in the past, living with so many regrets and preconceived notions that he couldn’t see what was right in front of him if his life depended on it.  At the same time, he’s a very enchanting, alpha type male that will definitely give you something to dream about.  Paired with Torie, the antithesis of everything that Matt thinks he believes, and you have chemistry that leaps off of the pages.  All of the movie & book references were fantastic.  They added so much to Torie’s character.  You really got to know what her interests were and how she thinks just based on what she says, and what she relates each even to.   Even though this is Matt’s story, the entire family is involved.  Their lives are irrevocably joined, for better or for worse, as they should be.  I enjoyed the fact that this novel was so much bigger than simply a romance.  Everyone is important.  Mark’s story is so completely heartbreaking.  I can’t wait to see how he recovers in his story.   As a whole, this was a fantastic addition to the series.  March has definitely written a novel that is well worth reading.

As usually another great book by Emily March. I enjoyed each book of the Eternity Springs series and I think The Callahan Brothers series will be just as good. I have read the first two books and enjoyed them both. Looking forward to the next one.

'Matt: The Callahan Brothers (Brazos Bend Book 2) by Emily March is a page turner! WOW! This is the story of Matt 'Demon' Callahan and Victoria 'Torie' Bradshaw. This story is full of passion, drama, action, suspense, romance, and humor. I loved this story! Emily March has written another great story. I can't wait to see what happens next with the Callahan Brothers in Mark's story! I'll never think of James Bond the same way again! Highly recommend this series as well as Emily's other work to all fans of romance.

I loved this book! As a Emily March fan, I was anxious to read something she had written that wasn't of the Eternity Springs series. This was different and it was suspenseful and I thought the characters were great. So, I definitely get the next one and keep reading about those bad boys, the Callahans.

Matt – The Callahan Brothers Review 9/18/14 Matt Callahan has been sent to Soledad Island to confront Dr. Helen Bradshaw about her fiancé and finds her running for her life from gun toting terrorists. Rescuing her and getting her to safety he finds that it’s not Helen with him, but her “evil” twin Torie. Helen was off the island when Torie arrived to surprise her and thought she’d relax on the beach and take some pictures. Except the pictures she took were of Tori’s fiancé, on a boat with another woman, and then of him being executed. Eighteen months later, after Matt recovers from an accidental gunshot wound inflicted by Torie, Torie finds herself being stalked and terrorized by an unknown someone. She flees LA and runs right to Matt Callahan for help. Matt’s not looking for involvement, but Torie brings adventure, excitement and unwelcome and unexpected love into his live while he is trying to protect her from and uncover whoever is terrorizing her. This is a great story, the second in The Callahans Series, and a wonderful read. I read this book in its original form, and loved revisiting it in its newest release.

Brazos Bend - Matt. Emily March has done it again. The second book of her Brazos Bend series is even better than the first, and it was great. Victoria "Torie" Bradshaw is on the run; in the wrong place at the wrong time, after she saw something she shouldn't have and has the photos to prove it. Matt Callahan has been sent, by her father, to rescue her only Torie is not who Matt was sent to get. He thinks she's her twin Helen.... OOPS. Matt is Torie’s James Bond, everything he does and how he looks reminds her about her favorite super spy.. and she does like James Bond… Torie survives a dunking, a trek through the jungle, and Matt’s kisses (to keep her quiet) and on the ride home she shoots him.. Say What?? Yikes! Skip forward : Matt is angry, he hasn't recovered from the shooting as well as he thought, another mission proves it. He returns to his Winery in Brazos Bend exhausted and disgusted with the situation and himself. Then who should show up out of the blue? "That Woman", the one who is the cause for all his anger and angst. Torie is being stalked and she can’t think of anyone else to run to. Matt doesn’t believe her, doesn’t want anything to do with her, and yet… Things escalate and soon Matt begins to realize that she truly is being stalked, Matt asks his brother Mark to check on some things at Torie’s apartment, and Mark accidently triggers a bomb, meant for Torie. Matt and Torie have their ups and downs, emotions and passions flare. She is driving him crazy, but Matt finally figures it out, he needs to help, he has to help, because if he doesn’t he is going to lose what he really wants.. Torie! This is a story that will keep you engaged until the very last page. Read #2, Matt of Brazos Bend, welcome back…

I love Emily Richard’s books, and this one certainly did not disappoint! Although I was frustrated with the ‘helplessness’ of Torie, and her tendency to let Matt walk all over her initially, I loved the book and kept reading long after I should have been asleep! It was suspenseful, sexy, full of action, and kept me guessing.

Victoria is so misunderstood. Everybody thinks she is the evil twin. The only person she can count on to love her is her twin. At first Matt thinks she is her twin sister, Helen, and rescues her. In the process of the rescue Matt is hurt and blames Victoria for everything. So what  else is new. Even Victoria's father thinks she is evil. Victoria needs help and the only person who may be able to help her doesn't want anything to do with her. Finally Matt realizes there is more to Victoria than what he  had been told, but can he overlook her profession? Sparks fly.

Another winner from Emily March! A perfect combination of romance, fun and humor making this second title in the series a fun-filled light and most enjoyable read that entertains on each and every page. Thank you once again for allowing me to escape and enjoy this delightful and delicious Callahan Brother Series. Can't wait for Mark's story!

Emily March has written another great story. The first page caught my attention and I couldn’t stop until the last. I find that when Emily March develops her characters she creates unique personalities that create great emotional connection with the reader. The heroine Torie is brave, funny, smart, feisty, and misunderstood. The hero, Matt is strong, stubborn, and courageous. The story starts off with Tories running for her life, you feel her fear and determination, and you find yourself hoping for a miracle. Entering the wished for miracle, Matt, who is returning a favor he owes to her father, but it is not to rescue Torie, but her sister. These characters, as well as others, are well blended together in this storyline. I found myself liking the personalities of all the characters, but I found a soft spot for Les and Gigi. They added spice to the story. You have a rescue, gunshot, stalker and mistaken identity, love and frustration. You will be gripping the edge of your seat one moment and giggling the next. This story will introduce you to a suspense, love and dramatic descriptions that will entertain you from the first page to the very last, it will leaving you waiting for the next.

Emily March books allow me to step into the book and feel apart of what is going on. The way Torie met Matt had me sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happened next. As Torie goes from one problem to the next she knows she can count on Matt to save her. Even if he is not sure himself if he wants to. I was so into the story I could not put it down until I had it read. I am looking forward to the next book . I loved this book and will be recommending it to others.

Fans of Emily March’s Eternity Springs series will LOVE her Brazos Bend books: Luke, Matt & Mark Callahan. Emily creates characters you want to root for and small towns you’ll want to visit again and again. Matt and Torie get off to a rocky start (and that’s putting it mildly) when they first meet so when Torie shows up at Matt’s door with a dangerous stalker hot on her trail, he’s reluctant to help her again. His protective instincts win out, however, and the two set off on an exciting and at times hilarious (try to count the number of nicknames Torie and Matt give each other in the book: “Evil Twin”, “Dr. Delectable” to name a few…) adventure set in the heart of Texas hill country. For those who knew the story under the title GIVE HIM THE SLIP, Emily’s updated and edited the story so that you’ll want to go back and re-experience this story. Don’t miss this epic romantic suspense!

Settle in with this thrill ride of an adventure that has non-stop action throughout. From Soledad Island off the coast of South America to Los Angeles and the rolling hills of Brazos Bend, Texas, someone is out to stalk and kill Torie Bradshaw, daughter of a general and twin sister to Helen. Matt Callahan chooses to help her out, along with his brothers Luke and Mark. Torie and Matt’s interactions are explosive and wild. Their feisty bantering causes fireworks between them when they touch. Matt, aka “Double-oh-Jerkface,” “Mr. Smooth,” and “Mr. Silent-and-Sort-of-Snotty” and Torie, aka “That Damned Woman,” “The Evil Twin,” “Bimbo,” “Fluff-headed bimbo,” “Fluff-headed, picture-taking bimbo,” and “Shutterbug” equals excitement. There is murder. There are gun shots, broken bones, explosions, and thrilling boat rides. This stalker is relentless and will stop at nothing to get Torie or anyone else in her path. With the Torie’s photographic Paparazzi skills and Matt’s CIA experience, both are equally relentless in ridding of this maniac. I definitely recommend this book, will backtrack to read Luke’s story, and look forward to Mark’s adventures.

I received this book for free to post an honest review.  I have enjoyed all of Emily's books, and this one didn't disappoint.  I enjoyed the mystery that appears in this one more so than the story about Luke (in my opinion). I loved the interaction between Matt and Torie--I laughed-out-loud MANY times.  I cannot wait to read the final story about Mark!

I enjoyed this book so much that I stayed up until after 4am to finish!  This is the story of Matt Callahan and Victoria (Torie) Bradshaw. We met Matt's family and explored his hometown of Brazos Bend in the first book of the series. Note that you do not need to read Luke The Callahan Brothers Brazos Bend 1 before starting this one. This is a great stand alone story as well! Of course, I am sure that you will want to read Luke's story once you get a taste of Brazos Bend if you haven't already! ;) Hopefully none of us will experience the dangerous type of adventure that these two find themselves in. We certainly can relate to their feelings and emotions tho! This is one of Ms. March's gifts to us. She is amazingly talented at capturing and making us feel what her characters do. I found myself laughing and crying with Victoria.  Let us not forget the true stars of the story - Gigi and Paco! You will have to read the story to decide if you are TeamGigi, TeamPaco.. or even TeamKnucklehead from Luke's story! ;)
