About the Author
Born 1948 in Chicago, Illinois, he is a Vietnam Navy Seabee vet. After Vietnam, Moen assisted in building and running a golf course and country club. He went on to create a line of sports clothing that generated a lot of money, yet Moen was haunted by the knowledge that he was seeking something else, something money couldn’t buy.
On a quest to determine this need, he began to focus on self-improvement and his own spirituality. From 1988 to 1995 he wrote inspirational books, published three of them, wrote music for meditation, and traveled the world looking for his Spiritual path. Once he understood it was inside of him the entire time, he became motivated to steward land in Hawaii. Moen continues to write and steward Kula Mana Farms.
He moved onto his Captain Cook, Kona coffee and macadamia farm July 1996. As he continued his Spiritual studies the screenplay Freedom Of Spirit was manifested. In keeping with the movie version of a healing village where Islanders can live freely, Moen has embarked on a mission to build such a place.

HOW TO USE THIS BOOK If you have never practiced guided imagery or meditation, do not be concerned. Everyone has visualized to some degree, and this book offers a variety of guided imageries that can be practiced by anyone following a few simple instructions. No special classes or courses are needed. If prayer is part of your life, then you have already experienced a kind of meditation. So relax and enjoy the journey. Types of Meditation While traditional meditation requires a quiet unoccupied mind, guided imagery creates a scene or group of scenes developed to fulfill the purpose of the imagery. An imagery designed to help you get ahead in your career might involve climbing a mountain or finding your way on a difficult jungle path. The object of the journey is to help psychologically orient yourself for achievement, healing, relaxation, or numerous other areas of change or growth. Where and When Should I Meditate? These journeys can be experienced by reading them silently or out loud alone or with a partner. You may wish to tape record journeys in your own voice and play them back at times best for you. You may also wish to share these journeys with a group. Visualization can really be done anywhere. While waiting in a doctor’s office, on an airplane, during a walk, or even sitting at your desk. However, these journeys are best practiced in a quiet place where you will not be interrupted and where you can be in a relaxed position: with eyes closed lying down, sitting in a chair, or perhaps sitting in a cross-legged manner with your back straight. Do not choose a position because you think you should; choose the one most comfortable for you. The best time for using a guided imagery is what is best for you. Often people will use uplifting, invigorating journeys to start their days; soothing, tension relieving imageries for midday breaks; and relaxing, creative visualizations for evenings. Group meditations are useful for promoting creativity in work projects and for encouraging people to pull together for business or community activities. An excitable, rambunctious group of children can be calmed down using imagery as well. Pauses Many journeys have one or more a “pauses.” The length of time you take at these pauses will depend on your own experiences: it can be a few minutes or an hour. You may determine the length of the pause before you begin or during the journey. What if I Fall Asleep? Some people have such relaxing experiences that they believe they may have fallen asleep. Usually they have not. But to be sure, you can place one of your elbows in a upright position so that if you start to doze off, your arm will wake you up as it falls. Music Music can enhance the journeys, providing it is quiet and does not contain abrupt changes in tempo or pitch. The tape “Creative Imagineering” is pure ambient music, which can develop or increase visualization abilities. An order form is located at the back of this book for this and other tapes. Breathing and Relaxation All of the exercises contained in this book provide basic instructions for deep breathing at the beginning of each journey. Be aware that this breathing is not gasping or hyperventilation but deep, slow, controlled inhales and exhales. Most people breathe from their mid- or upper chests, but deep relaxing breath comes from “belly breathing.” Inhale through your nose and expand your stomach. When you exhale, contract your stomach and gently force the air up through your lungs and out through your nose or mouth, whichever you prefer. But What if I Can’t Visualize? Give yourself permission to visualize. Allow your mind to play and create and expand on what images you do see. Be patient with yourself. Say to yourself “If I could visualize something what would it look like.” Begin by practicing with objects that are familiar to you. Imagine a room in your home, your favorite vacation spot, or the picture of a loved one. Add movement and color to the image and allow your mind to be free and wander through the pictures you are creating. Practice this as you would anything else and soon you will be able to visualize fantastic, imaginary scenes that will stimulate and enhance your guided journeys. Turn now to journeys in this book. Look through them and choose the ones that are best for you at this time. You may wish to begin by reading them silently to yourself, then aloud. Enjoy these journeys, their wonderful vivid images, their life-enhancing qualities, and their ability to help you achieve your goals and desires.
