Purpose: This edition provides updates of techniques presented in the first edition and includes new techniques important in understanding cancer metastasis. Since improvements on old techniques and new techniques are always being invented, it is important to have an update such as this.
Audience: It is written for any researchers interested in cellular and molecular techniques relevant to cancer cells and tissue. The chapters are written by authorities in the field on each technique.
Features: This book describes immunohistochemistry, histopathological assessment of metastasis, PCR, SDS-PAGE, gelatin zymography, in situ hybridization, affinity measurement of biomolecular interactions, detection of cancer stem cells, methylation of microRNA, RNAi technology, and strategies for identifying metastasis-associated changes in glycosylation. The book thoroughly covers complex methodology in a user-friendly manner. The "Notes" section at the end of each chapter explains the techniques clearly, making it easy to perform an experiment for the first time.
Assessment: This is a great addition to any laboratory studying cancer metastasis.
