I spent the most wonderful evening reading Colleen Anderson's Missing: Mrs. Cornblossom. What a beautiful book. I was transported back to my childhood of fireflies and late-night freeze tag when our neighbors were just extended family. Mrs. Cornblossom, Toothbucket, and Inchbald were like all those nurturing porch-sitters who taught me about the natural world, about how to make cookies, about music, charity, compassion, and fairness. There is so much magic in these pages, in these characters who ache for lost friends, in the children who are hungry for adventure and understanding. I hope there are still places like Arlington Court in the world. If not, I know I can find it in this book, a place of warmth and nostalgia that I’ll visit again and again.

Colleen Anderson's book is a beautiful collection of vignettes on the stability of life in the midst of change.  Her writing is poetic and lyrical.  As a therapist, I often deal with loss and change.  This book is a beautiful reminder of how to find comfort and stability in the midst of change.  I treasure this book and will keep it as I would a favorite poem or photo. I have no idea of what one must do to reach a young audience. I do sense that a "children's book" is, like a good-looking cat food, one that adult humans would want to eat themselves. Well, I want to eat this book. And of course it seems like kids would be intrigued. I certainly felt like one when I was reading it. Perhaps that is a good indicator of Colleen's success.

This lovely story encompasses all the senses, intrigue, mystery, sadness, compassion and joy.  Those of us who live in the area where Colleen Anderson found her inspiration for this book, are  delighted to have such a talent in our midst.  Kathryn A. Stone
